      I already managed to snag a 3090, near MSRP back in 2020, which I use to make hundreds of iterations of objects using Blender's geometry nodes and rendering them out as concept art. If I had that laptop I would do it while on the move! I also do a lot of 2D/3D hybrid animation in Blender so I opted instead for an i7 Surface Laptop Studio instead because I need both a GPU and integrated Stylus support that is "Good Enough". If only Razer licensed Wacom's EMS technology, but at least I have a desktop that I can send stuff to render on.

      @@samuelmoser Would still take ages on that laptop, I believe rendering still works better on a desktop cuz u can put even more power into it. I got a laptop like this and you still render for hours upon hours for medium scenes.

      @@yarugatyger1603 I know. But I have a PC with a gtx 960 and I want to upgrade. But I cannot afford it. And that just sucks. So my definition of big scene is probably a bit different than yours. But you are right for really big scenes you would need Quadros

    From a 3D rendering perspective (GPU and CPU) this laptop would be faster than a R7 5800X with a 3070ti. The highest desktop combo it could beat to its respective parts. As for your Houdini demo with the GPU it will show an improvement if you do volume calculations with OpenGL turned on or you use a 3rd party renderer that supports GPU rendering (Arnold, Redshift, V-ray, Octane or Renderman)

    Definitely would love to own one. My only fear is that it will overheat after heavy use and eventually the graphical card will die . My previous experience with using laptops as a developer only got one full year out of it. If this comes with a serious lifetime warranty. I’d invest. Just need that peace of mind to help me make that consideration. I know any company will not offer that kinda warranty.

The 3080Ti has 16Gb VRAM as opposed to the 8Gb of the 4060 so it should be a winner for rendering I would have thought but the 4060 is newer...have you got any thoughts on this? Thanks a lot!

    I'm really stuck between the 17" and the 15" version of this laptop. 17" is definitely a better desktop replacement laptop for 3D work and game dev but the 15" still has some respectable power and is more portable. I just wonder how big the noticeable performance difference is between the two when it comes to 3D modeling, texturing, and working in Unreal.

    Razor Blade laptops are awesome, I'm typing on a Blade 15 (2018). BUTTttt.. make sure you have a solid warrenty and don't plan to move too far from the service centre / country where its located. If there's a problem. Whicccchhhh there may well be one.. you will need to post the laptop back and it could take a couple of weeks without your machine to receive the fixed product. I moved to another country and the battery expanded in the chassis to the point where I had to remove the battery completely. After sending photo evidence and explaining my situation they were asking me to send the machine back to my home country which was pretty much impossible as I was working from the system. I also had the webcam and built in mic fail and they still don't work. SoooOOo.. great machines but like any performance slim line product they are prone to failure. PS, the battery issue was likely due to inadequate cooling in the chassis and being in a tropical country.

    Awesome video, but just felt to me like an Nvidia (the sponsors) very long commercial rather than a proper review. Like with the RTX 3090 video, I can tell that you are honestly excited about this technology, but a proper review I would trust does go deeper than just talking about how amazing the product is. Is not that a commercial instead? With all, thanks for your videos. As 3D creator I really appreciate seeing this type of technology used for 3D creation rather than just videogames FPS, etc.

    • @SirWade
      @SirWade  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Fair points, though this wasn’t really meant to be a true review. For me, there’s a difference between the 3090 video and this because while I was provided both pieces of hardware by NVIDIA, I wasn’t paid for the 3090 video so it made sense to review it. I did get paid through a video sponsorship here, so this was more of a “check out this cool new tech!” and therefore more of a product showcase, which may feel a bit commercial-y if I fail to keep the video interesting enough. That said, I do plan on making an actual product review of my own for the laptop and hardware using requests and questions in the comments as a guide to what everyone is wondering :) It makes sense to me at least, hopefully it tracks for others!

    Blender,s metal which allows you to enable apple M1 chips still needs some improvement

    • @JohnSlaughterND
      @JohnSlaughterND 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      They haven’t finished implementing Apple’s Metal submits, so I would expect performance to be miserable still. I think they are aiming for initial support in 3.1, and optimized support after that.

    After owning a laptop and now a PC user, I noticed that though laptops are getting more and more powerful.
    There will always be a downside, the first one is the upgrade process, it's quite hard upgrading part on a laptop.
    The second one is the cleaning process, when dust gets in, it becomes a nightmare, too many screws and if you are not an expert you could be destroying a 2000 euros laptop.
    On the PC this process is so easier.
    3days ago my pc was so dusty, all it took was 4 screws to remove the glass panel and a dust blower.

    Which mo-cap suit did you get. I recently got the perception neuron 3 suit and I like it so far. I have a 3090 and am in the market for a laptop as we speak. I am not sure whether to get a laptop with an OLED screen (which I have now) or just get the most power I can for the price. Any suggestions? Looking at the MSI creator z16 3060 120hz screen, Gigabyte Aero 15 with 3070 (OLED) or Asus Zephyrus G15 3080 QHD
