The best example is probably Danger Days, the story is incredible and it’s followed up by incredible comic books!
all their albums are concept albums. Although Black Parade arguably has the best concept. I personally think Three Cheers has the best concept; while Danger Days has the most coherent/creative concept with the comic and all. Bullets has the loosest concept of all. This excludes Conventional Weapons, of course. That was more of a compilation than anything

Fun fact; the voice of “Mama” in this song is Liza Minnelli. Shes Judy Garland’s daughter and a major star in her own right. She was Gerard and Mikey’s grandmother’s favorite singer, so they approached her to be featured in this song

Her little verse is one of the best parts of Mama too. You get an even more vivid snapshot of what the narrator’s mother and her callousness/narcissism is like than you would otherwise. These theatrical touches make the song absurdly memorable.
I wish they had gotten her on stage at least once. Maybe for the Black Parade is Dead. Also they Way parents also did a few vocals in there also.

I got the bug and was going even without my boys, youngest nicknamed me ‘emomom’ not as a compliment lol but I did the same, warped tour, projekt revolution, knot fest. Fun fact: I used to take the piss out of this band and laugh at everyone who listened to them back when I was in secondary school for no reason at all. Then about 2 years ago I heard a song from them that’s on a movie and decided to just give them a try. One a the best bands I’ve heard it’s weird how life works

i wouldn't doubt that its both that for the most part his thoughts as he writes he letter to the mom and a the things he's hearing around him (tho they have a bad relationship and she rejects him) and the chorus is to mother war the mother who embraced him

One of my top five favorite My Chem songs right there.
Also, fun fact (because I’m full of those when it comes to MCR): Mama is played by Liza Minnelli. When asked who they wanted to sing the line, Gerard jokingly said “It would awesome to get Liza Minnelli”, because he wanted a theater veteran who was an outisider but very motherly. The band didn’t think that they would be able to get someone as prolific as her to sing on the record, but their producer said “I can do that” and called her assistant. Gerard even made sure that she was aware of and okay with the line immediately after hers being ‘one of the filthiest lines on the whole record’.
I haven't listened to My Chemical Romance since I was 12 but their songs are amazing and have a very deep meaning to them

Honestly, if you’re gonna react to their entire discography you should start at the very beginning and listen to every album as a whole. Since they’re all concept albums it would make the most sense.
Also start with their first album I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love and work your way up to Danger Days (or Conventional Weapons.. it’s basically an album of scrapped songs they did before Danger Days but released shortly before their break up in 2013. It’s a 10 song album and was released as 5 singles with 2 songs each).
When you listen to the albums in chronological order you’ll notice their improvement and style change better and you won’t set your hopes too high because The Black Parade is, objectively, their musically best album, has the (imo) best concept of all and it shows their wide range and inspirations and so on. (Tho my favorite is Three Cheers... but best≠favorite)
Also.... Please listen to Heaven Help Us. It’s a B-Side of The Black Parade and extremely underrated. It also matches the entire concept of TBP better than some songs on that album (I’m looking at you Teenagers).
Zero Percent is also a great and criminally underrated song released as a B-Side of their last album.
I’d generally recommend all their B-Sides. They’re amazing.
S.C.A.R.E.C.R.O.W. is my favorite song from the 4th album. The concept is a post apocalyptic world run by corporations. Scarecrow specifically is about a mother telling her child about what to do when a nuclear war happens. Also the last song released by MCR Fake Your Death is an interesting one.
Think they were trying to tell us what they saw in store? Label it as a concept album and you can't be held liable of accusations. Smart move🤷♀️😊
I remember listening to this in cd and the song was a secret track at the end of the album. Was a minute and a half of silence before mama started. Such a surprise as I'd left the cd playing not knowing it was not finished. 😅
Yes, please react to their discography, from the beginning to the end. MCR is my favorite band of all time. Not saying they are the best cause there are many great bands out there. I just really enjoy their music for how deep their lyrics can be. And not to mention The Black Parade is a musical masterpiece.

Ambulance by MCR it's not on any of their main albums but it's a single release off Conventional Weapons. Been a fan of My Chemical Romance for almost 15 years ! They are epic so glad they got back together and got tickets to their concert( when it's allowed) !
I think a lot of it is in his head too (possibly symbolism of traumatic stress). Also the part you were talking about is either about his mom saying don't come home, or it is him thinking that his mother would be ashamed of the things he has done and would not want him to come home. Also the part where he says "you should have raised a baby girl" he is referring to being drafted for the military and that if he was a woman he would have dodged the draft. I catch new things lyrically with this band all the time when listening to it over and over.
Just listen to the entire album Black Parade. It is a masterpiece.

Ugh god this song... it’s probably my favorite song off the album just from the raw power it has. There’s so much going on but it molds together in literally one of the best songs I’ve ever heard. It’s on its own level of awesomeness. FUN FACT! The band actually got members of their family to sing that last section of the song with them INCLUDING the lead singers actual mama. 👌🏼

From how I’ve interpreted it, it is actually not a soldier dying on the battlefield, it is the patient dying of cancer and on his death bed he writes this letter out of pure anger, in the second verse it even seems he’s wishing she died, he truly hates his mom, the shit that he’s done with that fuck of a gun has made her disown him, and now that he’s dying he decides to get his revenge. The guest vocals are Mother War, the patient’s mom and also the mom of Fear and Regret which are two other characters from this album, which is pretty poetic if you ask me, war lead to fear and regret.
Yeah the whole album is the view from a cancer patient more than likely a vet from the sounds of it
i wish i could be experiencing all these songs for the first tike like you are. i remember listening to the black parade album and falling in love with it, listening to the rest of the albums and in turn mcr became my favorite band.

My Mom loved My Chemical Romance!! She passed away from Pancreatic cancer 3yrs ago. She was a survivor for 15yrs so she is Seriously a rock star!!!
