When MCR first started out, the band rehearsed at his grandmother's home... Just one of many reasons why his grandmother was so important to him.
The last "If you carry on this way" during the pallbearer scene is still one of the hardest-hitting vocals I've ever heard.

I've always noticed that but now can understand why a lot better now having found out its not only about his grandma dying but also anger he has for himself. It's this way for me as well now since 2017 when my grandma passed away and god now this hasy crying
"I'm Not Okay" is a bop. The video is pretty dang fun, too. I'd suggest that one next, though all of their videos are worth checking out.

This song makes me sob uncontrollably for a few reasons, especially today. Today is the four year anniversary of my brother's ex girlfriends death. They had a child together and never married, but I still considered my sister in law. Her name just so happened to be Helena. When I heard this song a couple of weeks after I found out she was dead, I had to stop half way through the song and cry until I fell asleep. Every year on this day I listen to this song, and take a couple minutes to think about the good times we had. I love this song so much, but anytime I hear it I cry.

This song is so powerful for me because it's definitely one of my favourite songs and also my Mother's name. She is still here but it always invokes strong emotions in me knowing that she won't be here one day and knowing the meaning behind this masterpiece of a song...

Those are exactly the feelings that I felt when my mother passed away, especially why I could not be with her in her last moments on this earthly plane.
But there is another song that makes me see that event in a more obtimistic way. That song is Rose Of Sharyn from the band killswitch Engage, if you are not reacting to that song I recommend it 100%

While I can't imagine someone not being familiar with MCR as they have been my favorite band since my spooky emo kid days, I love seeing the joy of someone discovering them for the first time. Many of their songs still give me chills after all these years. I highly recommend checking out their songs "Cancer" and "I Don't Love You."

Holy shit your commentary at the end hit me hard. Made me cry. It’s my late grandmas bday. Just lost her 2 yrs ago. I still cry spontaneously but can usually gather myself quickly. You had me balling in my kitchen on a Sunday morning while I’m cleaning. This 33 yr old grown ass women couldn’t keep it together. 😭
The song is about how his grandma died and he wasn’t able to see her in her final moments and he regrets not being there with her. His grandma’s name was Helen, so it was an easy change to Helena. You should do The Sharpest Lives next. Glad you’re finally getting around to MCR!

My Papa died in 05, this song came out in 04. I was 12 and lost the person I was closest with and I became hopelessly depressed & suicidal. I still miss him & still struggle with depression but I'm still here & songs like this were huge coping mechanisms.
