Great great move but the difference is he knows he's not gonna win without it, he has nothing to lose sharp contrast with domnick abate who was so close to win
They should've given the EoE castaways more screen time and see how they fared throughout the game, especially since the winner was sitting with them. Maybe a special episode just about them, give Chris more confessionals to see us how he stayed after being with Reem and the others for so long. Or maybe give them the chance to control the game and create potential partnerships when one of them gets back by allowing them to give an advantage to remaining players in the game a single day. Edit: Okay, I rescind the last part about giving the EoE castaways power, it sounds like a bad idea, but I still think they should have gotten an entire episode.
Chris wrote the book on how to win despite being voted off. The fact that Natalie put her foot off the gas just proves how much Chris deserved even more for making a move as ballsy as this
Natalie not only took her foot off that gas, she put it in park and hopped out to get a shitty truck stop egg salad. With Tony driving by as she was, waving to her leaving her in the dust
Looking back at this you can tell that Gavin knew whoever won that fire making challenge was most likely going to win the season. Devens was an absolute MONSTER this season, whose resume was much more extensive than Gavin’s and Julie’s. And Chris taking such a ballsy move on the 38th night by not only giving up immunity, but also saying “I’m going to be the one who takes down the Goliath of the season”, and actually doing so was probably the biggest move anyone’s made in survivor history.
To be fair, Gavin did get four votes, which is the second most for a runner up ever (behind only Dominic), so he did put up a good fight despite the loss
Even if Chris was on EoE for most of the season, the fact he pulled out a Power move like this, AND WON was the best possible move he could've made. he made the best impression with the tools and time had. I haven't watched survivor in a long time, sadly, but if I got to see this on TV when it aired, It would've been so hype.
I was SHAKING while watching this. This was the moment I told myself, if Chris wins this fire making challenge, he deserves to win the game. If Devens won this fire making challenge, he definitely deserved to win the game too.
What's so satisfying abt this elimination is that this F4 twist was originally set for a production fav (ie Ben) to win, and now this backfires and eliminates the production fav (Devens) (tho the moment Devens didn't win final immunity he would've been gone with the old format) Anyways just cancel this twist already
Production could have stepped in - Chris is allowed to give up his necklace but he's not allowed to give up his necklace and then dictate who goes to the fire making challenge. The person who's holding the necklace decides that. So Julie could have chosen Rick and Gavin if she wanted. I think the whole thing was a set up for drama in ignorance of their own rules.
@@Highwind452 Than why didn't Julie say anything? She had the perfect chance to take control of the game for once and make a move that might have actually won her some votes, but just kept quiet and conceded to Chris's plan. Or...she thought about it, but knew Chris was a better fire maker than Gavin, and didn't want to take the risk of Devens winning.
idk why the hate for rick, he just wanted to survive, and he did a lot. found idols, won immunities, made 2 fake idols. whoever said he's ben 2.0 is wrong. he's far more likeable and entertaining than ben. and don't forget without him we wouldn't get that tribal council where julia got voted out. if there's anyone to blame, it should be the production for planting lots of idols and advantages. and kinda like what aubry said in the ponderosa, having advantages is also a big responsibility, they knew rick is good at finding advantages yet they always made him the obvious target. maybe by trying to blindside him or tryna search for the idols too would work in their favor.
I agree however what we really dont know is this. Did production really plant a lot more idols this season and season 35 (Hustlers, Healers, and Heros) or was there the same strategy by production of planting idols for all the seasons before season 41 and Rick and Ben went out of there way to find them where in all the other seasons did the cast members just not look as hard and not find them making it look like less idols were out there? Thats the real question bc Ben and Rick busted their asses to find them, in other seasons we didnt have anyone look really as hard as they did, plus they only get out back into circulation if they get played so who really knows
He’s Ben 2.0 because he was basically handed a bunch of idols by production near the end of the game...flashing his idols at TC was a big reason he made it as far as he did.
Ignacio Joel Nexlson Cañas I hope to god he doesn’t make it far in the winners season I mean he was pretty well devens the only reason he made it was because he kept finding idols that’s not good gameplay there is no gameplay in it it’s being handed the game and it’s not right you should have to compete to win not rely on idols
I mean, if you have such a poor social game that you need an idol at every tribal, I think that says how much you deserve to win. If you need the immunity necklace and rely off of that, then it really depends as to the reasoning
So I had a chat with Victoria about this a few weeks ago (she plays in my dodgeball league) and she was saying how while she doesn't regret voting for Chris to win, she also said she still was frustrated that 1. he was able to come back to the game at final 6 with a strong shot of making final 4, 2. that this was a plan created by wardog and not Chris himself, something she felt should have been mentioned, and 3. that she felt compelled to vote for Chris over Gavin despite how close the two of them were all season. Personally I get all of that, I think the edge made more sense in WAW since it meant we got more time with these iconic players even if they went our premerge, but this was still thrilling to watch conclude and I think it makes sense that Chris had to do this to win given his position of being absent for most of it, and I agree with those who think Natalie should have done the same in WAW. As for 43, people say Cassidy or Owen needed to go to fire to beat Jesse to have a shot at winning, but frankly I think Cassidy had a great resume to win regardless, and even if Owen claims he needed to go to fire to win too, i am not sure I think he needed to do that either!
Jesus Christ people! Rick isnt isn’t as bad as Ben. Sure, production tried to rig the game for him, but at least he was likeable , Ben wasn’t. Rick could actually win challenges, he didn’t have to rely on his gifted idols as much as Ben did. Rick was more socially capable than Ben was, meaning he could win over the jury for better reasons to win. Ben’s reasons were being a veteran and playing idols that were handed to him. Don’t get me wrong, I didn’t wanna see Rick win as it would have been boring and predictable, but he was a great player to watch and I hope to see him on the show again.
man, my jaw dropped when Chris offered the Immunity to Julie. i say that the EoE twist came in very late and compromised Deven's possible Win but yeah it was still part of the Game and Chris had to make a lot of impressive moves in just 3 days so i guess taking out Rick the way he did makes him a deserving winner. Gavin was too play safe and just as he said, he just went to where the majority of the votes are going, his name was never written down either he was never considered as a threat or he was very likable. i still think that Chris deserved that win , Gavin just didnt make an impressive resume.
@@kristophercampbell5640 not necessarily, if she beats Tony she possibly wins the game. If she lets someone else beat them her chances go down simply because if tony wins like he did he is winning the game and if sarah wins she probably wins the game.
It's moments like this that make me question what some people are doing on survivor. Devens should have practiced making fire before coming on the show, and even moreso while he's approaching the end. Chris was smart, he clearly practiced making fire for a long time, and this allowed him to beat Devens who started practicing far too late.
This, pretty much. I'm just a fan and I've practiced making fire countless times even though I will never be on the show (I am on the opposite side of the world)
I have a feeling that give it another season or two and the f4 fire making mechanic will be broken and it’ll either be replaced or just go back to being a traditional vote. Everyone will either try to win immunity to have the say in what they want to have happen of just let whoever everyone wants to sit next to at the end win immunity and just throw it because there’s this taboo with being taken to the end and a major resume booster if you earn your way to the end via fire making. Plus it nullifies the importance of the final immunity challenge.
Saddest moment of the season. Loved Rick from day 1, was my winner pick and to see him go so close to final three and a million dollars is hard to watch. Still love him though and hope to see him play again.
"Saddest moment" lol. It was the happiest moment of the season for me. I can't blame Rick finding idols with him being the same person always being saved every episode but I find him to be unlikable cocky and arrogant.

rendy giovanni he’s more successful and loved than you’ll ever be in your pathetic life
alpha move
Xander should of done this in Survivor Season 41
the curse of orange/red stations..
I have no idea how that worked out in his favor.
Can we please go back to the way it was and eliminate the fire making? PLEASE?
I’m glad Chris won but when he gave his immunity to Julie he decided he wanted to make fire doesn’t Julie have to decide.
That's why it was a mental ballsy move. Who wouldn't want a free trip into the Top 3. Trust me, if Julie wanted to make the fire, they would've let her.
Ballsy move. Chris needed to do that to win.
I dont see how Rick is Ben in any way infact I say he is more of a Mike. He cane from eoe made flashy moves and earned it this far. Honestly if Chris was winning they should have concentrated more on him than Reem or the returnees. Him winning is so pathetic, Rick is the star and has grown to become one of my faves
Yeah! I see Mike more than Ben!
Mike was likable though
Wow so much hate in this comment section,
guys tbh the game is dying with all the idols, advantages, "twists".... That's the main issue of modern survivor
AHAHAHAHAHAHHAHA BYE DEVENS

Devons was one of the greatest players, definitely the greatest on this season. So for a bunch of self proclaimed “survivor fans” to be crapping over a great player in the comments shows just how hypocritical they are. Sad…🤦🏾♂️
Devens will be back.
JULIEEEEE
wait what about Victoria
Lucas Lima she got voted out...
I absolutely love Devens
My favorite survivor player ever
Him, Ben and Mike Holloway are my 3 favirite survivor players ever
What’s with all the Rick haters
Honestly looking at this I dont think either of them should have won,, no one played hard enough in my opinion-
THANK GOD RICK LOST!!!!
Unpopular opinion but I hate Chris for that move now
