IM ACTUALLY FUCKING SHOCKED THAT HE WON. Not the greatest winner, but I love it so much that he actually won. Out of that final four he’s my favorite by soooo far. Probably a bottom ten winner but it’s aight, I still love the guy. Gavin and Julie would’ve been worse winners honestly. Love his story, this season was great other than the Ron and Aurora episodes with the screentime being terrible.

I don't think a lot of people fully grasp the sheer amount of skill and precision it took for Chris to pull this win off.
1. If Chris just won all three immunity challenges and made it to the finals without any real strategic hustling, he does not win.
2. If Chris is in the finals against any of his three greatest threats, Victoria, Lauren, or Rick, he does not win.
3. If he did not convince the right number of people that Victoria was a bigger threat than him (which is technically only a half truth, cause she was way more beatable in challenges and they could've taken her out at 5 after Chris), he doesn't win.
4. If he didn't convince Lauren to give him her idol (like seriously, how does a girl who worships the hell out of Parvati ultimately end up pulling an Eric) he doesn't win.
4. If he doesn't convince Rick to give back the second half of his EoE idol (a move that DOESN'T benefit Rick at all) he doesn't win.
5. If Rick doesn't make it into the final 4, and someone else got credit for taking him out, he doesn't win.
6. If Chris doesn't win the final immunity challenge, and someone else decided who competed in the fire making, he does not win.
7. If Chris does not then give up that very immunity he won to take on the greatest competitor of that season and ultimately defeat Rick Devens himself, he Definitely. Does. Not. Win.
Oh yeah, one more:
0. If he did not defeat 10 other competitors in a do or die challenge, one of which being Joey Amazing, the Greatest Challenge Beast in Survivor History, guess whose not winning.
I feel like we are in Avengers Infinity War territory. With millions of possible variables and outcomes of how this season could have ended, and in only ONE of those, where each and every one of these actions had to happen exactly the way it did, does Chris Underwood become the Soul Survivor of Survivor Edge of Extinction.
I call that a perfect final four days.

That was the weakest round of applause I have ever heard. You can tell the audience was not impressed. They usually also play the theme song whenever the winner is announced. They didn’t do it this time.

Chriswas given HALF an idol not an idol. He convinced Lauren to play hers for him (she didn't have to). He convinced Rick to give the half back (he didn't have to). He won final immunity. He TOOK OFF THE NECKLACE to personally slay Devens. Gavin and Julie coasted. Put Rick Vic or even Lauren in final 3 and everything changes but Chris deserved to win against Julie and Gavin.

@@RyanM95 I am very satisfied. He's a very deserving winner in my books, just because he wasn't seen on TV doesn't mean that he did not work. I watched all episode so I know for a fact that he wasn't just a random dude. He was on EOE and everyone knows the dynamics of this season. EOE was part of the game and he used it well. Every circumstance there was part of the game. HE WAS THE BETTER PLAYER, u just didn't see it on TV. Beside what's the point of EOE if you don't want from someone in there to win? He won it fair and square.

looking at it the edge of extinction twist was really unfair to the players actively in the game and who had to survive way more elements.
It's not really unfair when it was literally the theme of the season.
Plus the edge of extinction was essentially monotonous hell.
Chris give up immunity to make sure devins does not make it to the end makes him a winner. Somehow he did his dues.
The Innovator the theme itself was inherently unfair to the people who didnt get voted off. chris got to hang out with the jury for a month, while some of the people on the jury had never even spoken to gavin or julie prior to final tribal.
Except both Gavin and Julie did shit all, if he won over someone like devens or even Victoria then it would be stupid but he deserved to win over the other goats
Nothing against Chris, but this didn’t feel like the end of the season. It’s just *plop* and victory
if anyone plans on re-watching this season, all you gotta do is watch episodes 1-3 and the finale. literally every other episode has no relevance to the season
Terrible theme
This season was a big waste of my time! I would have used those 60 minutes to do something else on Wednesday nights.

Thats stupid. If you dont watch throughout, then you dont get impressed by rick devens. then how can you fathom it is THE ultimate decisive move chris made by beating him at the fire making challenge, that won him this season.

I feel bad for Rick cause he played so hard while Chris just got back in WITH an idol, but you gotta applaud Chris he could’ve lifted that mass so long ago and been last place, but him winning made this season a little bit better for me since Rick looked like the obvious winner.
Besides, Chris is the first winner to win and get snuffed in the same season. Survivor history right there.

Parsimmon Leoni well he made the jury laugh sometimes, sure the idols were fishy, but he won so many immunities but still being at the bottom.
Matt from redemption island almost did that the only thing is he was not made to play survivor atleast on the strategical part of it.
They both got a second chance. Victoria and Lauren never got a second chance that is why these things are unfair.

Well that was the most disappointing final 3 in history and the worst winner.
Victora, RIck and Lauren games were screwed by Chris returning and having jury infromation. Any of those 3 would have been a good winner.
Victoria, Rick and Wardog were my favorite new players. I also hated Ron for most of the time but i started liking him near the end he was a fun character.
And I can't blame Chris tbh, he played with the hands he was dealt with. If anything, the editors, the producers and Jeff deserves the hate and mockery for this clusterf of a season. I hope this twist never return ever but seeing what next season is, it's looking they haven't learned a lot

While I personally was rooting for Rick, I cannot deny that what Chris achieved in only the very last episode was gutsy, unexpected, and just flat-out amazing. And I'm really happy most of the jury felt the same.
That said, Kudos to Gavin for getting 4 votes. I liked Rick's and Chris's games better, but Gavin definitely played a solid game as well and earned those votes.
Rick is still the true winner to me. He won 4 individual immunity. Found and played idols. Returned from the dead. Made it to final 4 with basically everyone wanting him out for awhile. He only got out after Chris made the move that Dominick didn't do. Taking off his necklace and beating rick at fire in a epic fire making showdown.
I believe rick will come back in season 40. He probably won't win with the full returnee cast but I want to see him again because he is good TV.

Dark Umbreon I just watched the finale and honestly I don't think so. A bad ending would be for a deserving winner to lose at ftc. Gavin played 39 days and controlled nothing, he was so irrelevant he couldn't even get his number one ally's vote lol. Julie was... Julie! Chris played 12 days and made great moves at f6, f5 and an epic move at f4. For some people that's enough. Tbh if Devens was the greatest player this season then Chris deserves to win for playing him at f5 then taking him out at f4.
ali ka i think he should get a lot of props for making the biggest move of the season at f4, but he wasn’t in the game for a month. all he had to do was make friends and not piss people off on extinction, then he came back and was handed an idol.

Winning Survivor is about who's sitting next to you. I agree it's not the best f3 combination, but out of the three Chris was the most deserving. I also can't help but blame Lauren and Rick for their losses. They were simply outplayed. Honestly Vic was the only player that didn't make a mistake in this final yet again I can't say someone was robbed when they got voted out at f6! Simply this is a traditional "Not best player but better than the other two winner" season.
Dark Umbreon Nothing in the entire world can justify Lauren wasting her idol on someone who's not even an ally at f6. Chris wasn't given an idol, he NEEDED Devens to give him the other half back and he did, which tells me Devens was gonna use his own idol on Chris anyway if they didn't have the one they shared. Vic played a flawless game and was kinda screwed by the twist but that doesn't make this season the worst considering she was probably gonna lose at f4 anyway. Again Chris was 4th out of the final 6 playes. However, he was sitting next to 5th and 6th.
Terrible ending. Oh well. I liked Aurora, Devens, Lauren, Wentworth.

I missed the first 6 episodes of this season, so I didn't get to really see David, but I like him. He always has a good answer to everything Jeff asks him.

What an absolute joke. He got to bond with the jury for 20 plus days and is immediately given an idol at the final 6. How does that equal the winner of a season?

I agree. He was given a month to kiss ass to all the jury and then given an idol and dropped into the game way too late. I like the edge of extinction idea. It allowed people from the beginning to participate until the very end. If they keep the idea, I hope they bring the player in a bit sooner. Great season. Rick is the only player that has come close to entertaining me the way Tony did.

I have a feeling most of that was just because they were rooting for Rick, probably the most popular character of the season for the general public, and Chris was pretty much the sole reason Rick didn't win
Aubry and David voting for Chris really rubs me the wrong way. They praise the strategical part of Survivor, yet vote for the person who failed at not getting voted out. Once again Queen Michele deserved her win. I used to like Aubry, but I’m completely over her.

I knew Lauren was a bad player. She is easily manipulated. When she went against Victoria, her game went downhill fast.
Most of the people don't like Sophie as a winner. After this season and hvshvsh i realized that she was good winner. . She was strategic
To be honest, I am really happy that Chris won, as his story arc was interesting and very unique. He played really well once he got himself back into the game, and I’m glad that someone used the theme of the show to actually win the game. Only negative is that if they all knew that someone from the edge would win, why was there basically no footage during episodes on what was going on at the edge. I don’t think we had seen a confessional from Chris since episode 4 or 5! The twist set up for a challenge beast to come back in late and take the glory, and that’s exactly what happened. Hats off to Chris, well played!

Weaponized Rick People are hating because Chris only played 12 days of Survivor and had a huge advantage with the jury being on the Island for practically the entire game.

I think there are past winners who are worse than Chris despite the disparity of the number of days playing the actual game, people like Bob Crowley, Natalie White, and Fabio come to mind. I’m tempted to add Sophie to that list because she only won because of Coach blowing it at FTC but there may be a case against that.

Dude only played 13 days of survivor. He got to get voted out before having to make any tough decisions. Didn't have to stab people in the back or make false promises. I mean obviously people are going to like the person who never had to wrong you. The whole appeal of survivor is the jury is full of people you had a hand in voting out and they get to ultimately decide your fate. Thats what makes survivor interesting. Chris got to hang out with the entire jury and befriend them before coming back. The Jury clearly wanted someone from EoE to win because they could relate to them. Seems like survivor rewarded you for getting booted early. Just seems stupid to me.
Wardog is a moron and a disgrace to actual players who respect the game. No self-described fan would ever vote for a looser like (redacted). Maybe Gavin wasn't the most compelling player ever, but he did play for 39 days, which the bare minimum requirement for winning.

I agree; he played a great game-and it was the first time on Survivor where he gave up his idol to have a fire challenge with Rick. He said it was to earn his way back in the game. It was insane! I liked his confidence and he took a HUGE risk--and it payed off; he played his ass off and most of THE JURY AGREED.

Yeah gotta say this is really frustrating given the fact that Chris had access to tons of info about the game before he won his way back in. In addition, he essentially played 6 or so days in the actual game, and while I agree that it's pretty impressive what he did accomplish, he had a free idol and knew who to go to for the other one because of Kelley.
Lets compare that to Gavin's game. Okay, sure, you can say that Vic made all the moves for him, which is still pretty untrue, but even if that's the case, Gavin managed his threat level much better and made sure that she'd be voted out before him, which is what happened. In addition, Gavin never found an idol, but managed to convince someone to use one on him when he really had no bargaining chips to work with. Gavin never had his name written down, even in the premerge, and played for a full 39 days.
Yes, Chris still was "in the game" per say, but living at the EoE is a lot less stressful than being in the game itself. He did make a huge move at the end that took guts, but I don't think it stacks up to the overall and complete game that Gavin played.
Just to add to it because i agree with you that Gavin deserved more:
Chris had around 4 weeks on the edge to build bonds with members who are going to be voting for the winner. That is a HUGE advantage and to his credit he cashed in on it.
Gavin however also made really good social bonds and that's despite staying in the game which is arguably tougher than Edge as while you get slightly more food compared to Edge you never get to rest like in Edge. In Edge you can just chill and talk with others while in the game you have to worry about strategy, alliances, idols , advantages etc etc (this was said by Rick Devans himself) Coming back to Gavin he had an incredible social game whilst still being in the game and never getting his name written down once. Not only that he convinced Rick to play an idol on him as you mentioned and in addition to that when Aurora lost her vote and thus decided to give her Extra vote to someone almost everyone in her group unanimously agreed on Gavin because they all trusted him. That's really difficult to do in survivor. If i have to compare it with Survivor legends i would say it's pretty similar to the game Sandra played in season 7 and 20 and how Michelle played in Season 32.
Very happy Rick D won $100, 000 Sia award for most entertaining player. He deserved to win the game but still got 2nd place money$$$
So that’s why Rick’s edit was shoved down our throats. So that Sia’s fav would be production’s fav since he didn’t win.
So we got two seasons of survivor back-to-back which lived up to their respective themes. David (Nick) slaying Goliath's to win. Chris returning from Edge of Extinction to win. Wow, great job producers!
So you’re telling me I wasted a whole season watching people actually play the game and then have someone (who got to know the jury for a long time, sat around, Compete in one challenge and given an idol) to come in at the end to win it all? I even forgot Chris existed until this finale.

It was really unfortunate for Devens. It was an easy win for him if he made it to final 3. I must say, Chris needed that move in order for him to prove that he deserved that million dollars. It was an awesome season. I had blast watching it and lookin forward to season 39.
Gavin is the most robbed finalist ever. He played the entire game with 0 votes against him and had two immunity wins. This show isn’t Survivor anymore.
Literally as soon as Chris won I knew this is the worst season of Survivor. Also as I expected the jury were a bunch of gamebotty dumbasses who thought that the guy who only played the guy for like 12 days deserves it over someone who has played an overall clean game. I wanna hope that production will get their act together but judging by the fact that we got 5 seasons in a Dark age (even tho I liked DvG), Im convinced they will never learn.
In a season that was all about targeting the biggest threat, Gavin not getting votes showed his game. He had a good social game but he was always latching on to someone else's plan. Plus he got the majority votes, so obviously he deserved it. Skupin didn't get any votes all season and made it to f3, was he robbed? Not really a good argument for why someone deserves to win.
sosaki smm Compared to someone who played only 13 days of Survivor and Julie, he absolutely deserved it. And you don’t want to make yourself a big target, that’s stupid. This show is not always about big moves, it’s about the right ones. Players like Rick would be seen as jokes in older seasons of Survivor.

EOE was so unfair, while Gavin and Julie were playing the game and surviving the votes, Chris was bonding with all the jury for 20/25 days. Something that Gavin and Julie couldnt

The real best player of the season was Victoria, someone who made it all the way to the final five without getting a vote and voted correctly each time, only to get her phenomenal game ruined because of a twist that never should've existed. Rick should've stayed a premerge flop just like Victoria should've been the winner. The only reason why Victoria was voted out was because everyone on the Edge agreed that she was playing the best game - not Rick and that because the Edge stupidly allowed that information to get back to the players in the game, she was unjustly voted out and robbed of her Survivor win. That is why Victoria is the best player this season and Rick is easily the worst. Get your facts straight.

One of my favorite winners. Very fitting of the title of survivor edge of extinction sole Survivor as he experienced the edge and won at the end. Truly deserving indeed

Everyone was complaining about all the idols Rick found... He was typically the first one to start looking and sometimes was the only one looking... At least it was shown like that. Its not that its rigged its just no one else wanted to look as much.
I can’t fault Chris for exploiting the Edge of Extinction twist’s benefits as he did what he had to do. But Getting a free pass to the final six, being gifted a half an idol, and spending weeks bonding with the jury is such an unfair advantage. He never had to betray people like Gavin or Julie since they were never voted out. We, as fans, spent weeks developing an attachment to the players still in the game and all then the third boot gets thrown back in... And bam! He wins. I feel like I wasted my time with this season.

Im not saying chris didnt play a good game in his 4 or so days, but he was essentially playing with nothing to lose, and he had made personal connections with the entire jury on EoE in a non game context which puts him at a huge advantage for jury votes. I would argue its much easier to make it through the end when nobody on the island knows ur game cuz you had no game up until that point. Like everyone else knew who the liars were and who had no chance of winning so they planned their game around that, but chris was just a big question mark which was a huge advantage. Of course i still stand by the fact that every winner deserved their win, but I think this time chris only deserved it because the game itself, or at least the season itself, was broken

I wish Devens won he played a PHENOMENAL game but wow what a comeback for Chris. It is probably so hard to come back in with absolutely no social game with the other players. He was an easy out. But man he is a beast at challenges. Imagine being on the Edge of Extinction, starving, emotionally and physically beat up and then put back in and gave it his all. Well deserved
Rick Devens should have won for sureeeeee. He was the only person who actually did anything smh. The fact that he survived for as long as he did on the bottom makes him deserve the win over any other player that season. He found idols, made big moves, and won several immunity challenges. We better see him back in later seasons.

When Chris won his way back in, it was insanely surprising and quite sad. Beating Joe and saying “I did it!” was quite memorable to me. Risking his game to go against the biggest threat in the game, Rick. And beating him was pretty memorable. Could have been better people at the ftc, but overall a 7/10 season. 👍🏽
Idc what anyone says Chris deserved to win, he caught fish for everyone on the edge of extinction and was nice to everyone there, Those who were on the edge for a while bonded better with him than anyone in the final 3. Also take into account Chris won one edge of extinction challenge, one individual immunity, one fire making challenge which he ended up pulling himself out of a punched ticket to FTC to take on the biggest threat in the game and knock him out. That is better than Gavin’s small fixated amount of people he was loyal to who were on the jury which included Lauren, Vic, Julia and uhhh that’s about it, he had connections with the Kamas but he inevitably cut all of their throats which obviously means he sucked at jury management, I mean I guess he made a big move on Erik but there wasn’t a lot of flash in that since the move wasn’t strictly his only and Julia had a big day on it as well. Chris made moves in the game that were strictly his. Manipulating Lauren to play an idol for him which costed Lauren a guaranteed final 4 spot. He also created a tight aluminum bond with Rick which is the reason that he gave it back rather than just kept it as a souvenir. After all these shenanigans, Chris wasn’t done, he then betrayed Rick by making him go against the best person at fire making, his own self. Yes Chris was in isolation for a lot of the game but he had that time for jury management. It exposed his social game, his physical game obviously through catching fish and winning various challenges more than Gavin or Julie individual-wise and he played a better game in 12 days(13 if u include day 39) than Gavin or Julie could in 39 days. Pretty impressive.

I am just happy that Chris and Gavin made it to the end, I was so torn by which one was gonna win and I am so happy that the two of them made it to the end, Congrats to Gavin and Chris for making it to the end, even though Gavin didn't, I think that if you made it to the last tribal council, you are still a sole survivor at heart.

I'm a big big fan of Survivor, Chris win wouldn't sink in. I really felt he's undeserving and he won due to luck. What has he done, nothing.
Good season, enjoyed Chris as the winner even though he had a clear advantage going into the final tribal. Kinda silly how after Devens got back in everyone got a chance to go back into the game, they should've been the pre merge boots. Overall the edge was as bullshit as I initially thought but good moments make this season a 5 for me
I'm confused. The comments on Aurora's vote out seemed to suggest that Rick was "Ben 2". And now he was robbed? Rick lost fair and square, and Chris won fair and square. Gavin never really was in control or responsible for big moves, and Julie was.. well she didn't do much, so why is it that Chris is the "the worst winner". Like I'm actually very happy with this season and it's ending but, I guess that's just me.

I can see why people are upset that he won, but he made a bold move at the very last second and he played against the best and won. Devins definitely deserved to win too, but he did get a little bit cocky and his overconfidence got him in the end
Gavin played a really good game and tried his best, it’s cool that Chris won after his struggle at the island
David VS Goliath was epic, and this season totally let me down.

David vs Goliath was consistently wild good while Edge of Extinction progressively got better after each episode! I liked both seasons and both winners!

Then Chris won his way back in and made the moves he made the short time he had. Crazy, unpredictable, and fun to watch. Felt bad for Devens but congrats to Chris.
MrJkomaroff no need to feel bad for devens, he got the Sia Award of $100K. But I'm glad finally someone who wasn't previewed in the trailer won the game. Because the past 3 winners were all the ones who was featured in their respective previews (also first to speak).

I’m really torn on how I feel tbh. On one hand I enjoyed that final hurrah from Chris where he gave up his immunity necklace so he’d have to build fire against Devins.... but Devins was the freaking MVP this season. Ngl, the first half of his game play was meh. But he came back from edge of extinction with guns blazing. He fought tooth and nail to stay in the game each week, even with everyone a) not wanting to work with him & b) not even hiding their attempts at gunning for him. He was public enemy 1# but he didn’t give up. He outwitted a lot of the jury members by flushing idols, throwing some fake idols into the mix, etc.

@John Sonia the biggest strategic move in the game was Aubry psychologically tricking Taj to flip on Scott and Jason. Aubry was behind every good move post merge despite losing her two closest allies Neal and Joe due to medical evacuations.
