Thank you! This is the exact lens comparison I’ve been searching for and haven’t been able to find until now. I know it’s not a super common comparison many will ask for but there are definitely some of us who want exactly what you’ve made here, so DOUBLE thank you! I’ve owned the 16-35 GM for years, I started out with a stills focus but now I’m shooting way more video than stills. Recently got the Zhiyun Crane M3 and was very happy to see you use that in this video. I love its small, discrete form factor but it won’t handle the 16-35 GM. I’m thinking of selling the GM to pick up this new F4. My big concerns are possible decrease in image quality and lowlight performance, which you addressed and said it wasn’t anything to worry about-so thank you! The 16-35 GM is a fantastic lens for stills but personally I’ve been frustrated with my shaky handheld videos. I also have the Sony 24mm f1.4 GM which works on my gimbal and gives me the smooth video I want, but often I’m missing the convenience of the 16-35 zoom. I’m not inclined to get a bigger gimbal to handle the GM, I feel it attracts too much attention when I just want to film for personal use in public AND the more hassle there is in packing bigger gear, the less frequently I want to even take out and use that gear. So what then is the point of having a “superior” GM lens if I end up using it much less? This is the debate I’m having
Nice practical review. Gonna keep my 20mm 1.8 G tho, got a shortcut button for clear image zoom (1,5x zoom making it a 30mm lens, but you knew that!). Love that powerzoom function tho on this new lens. Here's an umbrella for that monsoon☂️📷✨!
Ahh yes, gotta love those TX thunderstorms! Thanks again for letting me tag along, I'd say lens testing and storm dodging was a perfect first time vlogging experience! 😂 Can't wait to add this lens to the kit - that power zoom is too good!
@@PaulFeinberg woah, thanks so much Paul! It is a lot of work but so fun! Working to start getting videos out more consistently now so a lot coming up! Thanks again, man! 🙏 love your vids btw!
It finally uploaded!!! hahaha Worth the wait. Nice video especially with the GM lens comparison bit. Hope yall stayed safe with the crazy storms yesterday!
hello, please help me, I bought this lens.. I noticed that the zoom inside the lens moves when you turn it up or down.. like an hourglass... is this normal? was he supposed to be quiet... still?
I just sold my Zeiss 16-35mm f4 for Sony 20mm f1.8 a week ago. Wish this lens came out earlier. Lol. Do you think I should keep the Sony 20mm or return it for this lens?
I already got A7mk1 + 50 1.8 but I am thinking of getting FE 16-35g vs Zeiss 16-35. I want to shoot travel, landscape, street photography please give me a recommendation?
I want get 16-35gm but it doesn’t have OSS. Do I need OSS if no how to setup my A7mk1 with no ibis for landscape and video please give me a recommendation? I will get a A7iv after I get the lens.
finally have some experience using pro equipment, and it ain't easy, talk about weight! manually focusing a HEAVY and yuuge cine prime lens on a large pro video body wore me out, power zoom and AF on a small FX3 type body are more in line with my strength and ability, and still gets me close to what I'm trying to capture for my filmmaking/content creating
Nice option to save quite a lot of bucks for those who needs a more compact wide lens at the cost of a less blurry background. Also the fact that the zoom is internal makes it a great/easier lens to be used on a gimbal. Thanks for this video Sid. If you had no 16-35 would you buy this one or save money for the GM?
As fun as this lens looks, I’m still tempted to get the GM as I work as both a photographer and videographer. For video, using the DJI RS2 enables me to use the 24-70 GM from 24 to the 70 end (with the barrel extended all out ) during event shoots without making the gimbal dance…that’s why I’m still tempted to get the 16-35GM. Were it not for the strong capability of the RS2, I’d opt for this new 16-35 instead for gimbal use! Oh but it’s crazy to hear how expensive the GM still is over there! Over here in Macau, it’s sold around 13500HKD (~1700USD) so the difference is not too much compared to the new 16-35 Maybe one day I’ll have the luxury to get both without worrying about price :p
Excelent video!, im from PERU, and i wanna know if you have to buy one lens for vloggin and have just two options FE 14mm GM and this one 16-35MM G what would it be? - blessings from southamerica!
The lens mount be weather sealed, but not having a tab in your hot shoe on top of your camera means your camera isn't! Don't let any water get on it like that! Great review mate
Couple of thoughts. Why is every TH-camr such a gushing fanboy about everything… oh what? They get paid with swag, discounted gear and sponsorship… got it. Anyone else notice the “not smooth” power zoom feature on the lens. That’s the same on every review playing now. This feature is definitely for mom to film the kids at the park or in this case the soccer game. Can we just get an honest review for once?
BECAUSE I LOVE ALL CAMERA GEAR AND GEEK OUT ABOUT IT!!! Also, not sponsored. So funny how people immediately think how dishonest we are just because we get excited about gear.
This would be more impressive if this was a 12-24mm that’s capable of utilizing ND filters. The 16-35 GM lens is the better buy..don’t waste your money on this lens when it’s selling point is a zoom rocker 🙄 Cmon Sony!
@@SidneyDiongzon absolutely…which is exactly why a 12-24mm lens that’s capable of using ND filters would be more valuable to videographers. Instead of making primes like their 14, 20, 24 & 35. Which are all fantastic glass. But…it’s time to make something we all need. Especially for us in the real estate industry. & for myself that’s in the yachting industry where spaces are even smaller. Can't how SMALL and LIGHTWEIGHT this lens is! WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THE FOOTAGE?
By your footage and photos it seems like it keeps up with the G-Master
Just bought the 16-35 GM and I love it!!!! I’m a photographer so no need to vlog. Will keep my GM 🥰
Fair enough! Thanks for watching!
This honestly seems like it would be a fun lens for my FX3. I'm not sure if I need it though, lol.
It’s incredibly versatile dude! Really compact for those looking for a slighter setup. Solid and sharp too 🤙

Hi, is this Lens compatible with Sony FS5 ? ,Thanks
Can clear image zoom be continue to zoom farther if you turn the power zoom or manual zoom ring?
How this lense, apart from size , compare to the 18-105 mm f4 ? Because they are both f4 .. why this is so expensive?
how does the lens perform in low light/nighttime setting?
Top review and a nice light wide lens. outstanding value for the glass.

Tough call. New internal focusing of the 16-35mm is hard to beat
I have the exact same bag as your friend have. I love it.
One thing that I did not understand from all these 16-35 PZ videos - IRIS lock - does it work on any aperture on the aperture ring or only on A?

Great gimbal lens for my FX6, or?
If you connect the a7IV to the M3 would the front wheel control the Zoom??? That would be 🤯🤯🤯
Does it have Lens stab?
No
Since you love talking about the a7iv, can we get a low light test of this lens?

What aperture and focus mode/distance did you use in the indoor gimbol shots at the 5:15 min mark. Thanks buddy

How come a lens that hasn't officially been on sale can be deemed "the most underated"?
Because there's conversation that the lens only goes down to f/4
