  • Quick and simple way I install mods using WryeBash that has never failed me
    == Steps ==
    1. Click on the Installers Tab
    If prompted to enable Installer (first time only) click Yes
    2. Drag and drap the mod file into the Installed tab
    Choose Copy or Move and optionally Don't show this in the future
    3. Right click on the mod archive file (Square Icon) and select Package - Unpack to projects...
    4. Right click on the mod archive again (Square Icon) and select File - Delete
    5. Right click on the mod project (Diamond Icon) and select Install
    Red Diamond Icon - Not installed yet
    Green Diamond Icon - Installed
    Orange Diamond Icon - Installed with some issues. Most likely another mod had made changes which might conflict

    Lifesaver! Thanks so much for your clear warning and instructions around 5:20 where you explain that the archives don't install properly. I was always having problems, with installers staying red even after I installed!

    Are there any caveats to this method using the Steam OS distro used by the Steam Deck?
    This definitely seems like a more SteamDeck Ecosystem friendly way of going about things than what a lot of people say you should do.
    Gamescope and Mangohud run on a single, constant instance so it's just easier to use valve's proton than it is to use Lutris or Wine if I'm trying to stay in game mode with tools or non steam games because a lot of the parameters in regards to Gamescope and Mangohud can't access the constant instance of either without modifying them at the root level. (I'm sure there's a way of patching in variables but I'm very new to Linux) and you're basically stuck with two different versions of wine (Valve's Proton with all the game mode specific stuff) or Lutris and whatever runner you want.

      Sorry i do not have a Steam Deck to test this on so I cannot give any advice about that

    I love how when I drag the zip or 7z of a mod into the Installer window, I get same pop up as you, I also click copy, and then it doesn't show up in my list of Packages. I try dragging it again, and it says its already there, even tho I can't see it.

  • @WitchyLichy

    there isnt any "unpack to project" there is only "copy conflicts to project"
    I found it, you have to go to Archive and its in there

    I recently bought a new computer I've never seen before with wrye bash. It goes through the bashed patch process but when it's finished its just opening up a small blank window unlike the typical yellow window. I can finalize the patch but nothing is in it and then mod organizer 2 it shows up as a blank 0. Esp file.

    I was wondering if you could explain how to install OBSE or xOBSE. I have created a script similar to your video and everything works except OBSE, according to the test plugin. However, when I open Wrye Bash, the green box in the lower left is ticked, showing OBSE is active. When in-game, I can usually enter the command line when loading a game and it will tell me the OBSE version when running through Steam/Proton. But through Wrye Bash, even though the box is ticked and it says its active, it seems OBSE is not.
    I'm running Fedora, and I added the following line to my bash file: DEF_CMD=("/game/Steam/Steamapps/common/Oblivion/obse_loader.exe")
    The above line is how I made Wrye Bash recognize OBSE. Hope you can take some time and help with this as there is nothing but misinformation in the forums (as usual).
    Thank you, for your videos!

      OK it is a little unclear to me what you are trying to do.
      From a quick look online it looks like the installation for OBSE is the same as SKSE, you simply put the files into the data folder. When running from Steam it should load automatically.
      Are you trying to run Oblivion by starting WryeBash and then using WryeBash to run Oblivion? If so I do not recommend that. I only use WryeBash to install and configure my mods and then after that I start Oblivion or Skyrim using Steam

      @@rangertony I was trying to run everything through WryeBash, not installing mods and then running through Steam. Thanks for that clarification, and sorry for the confusion. Right now, I'm trying to puzzle out how to add an argument (Wine) that points the required .dll(s). That may work in both MO2 and Wrye Bash. I'll have a little bit more info in an hour or so, and then I'll report if it works or not by adding a -- UPDATE -- to this response. Again, thank you!
      -- UPDATE --
      Tried several things, including adding .dlls to the Oblivion wine bottle via protontricks. Didn't work. Thanks again, sir!

    I was reading a mod guide and it keeps saying to use BCF converters, which I installed correctly according to the page but it shows no options. Can I just install without them? Is it really necessary?

    • @rangertony
      @rangertony  ปีที่แล้ว

      and one other thing: You are correct, I had zero issues using the package method. Unlike the first few times, was worth the reinstall.
      Also, like a few mentioned, can you do a video on this Bash Patch. I do use it, but doing it blind. Thanks!

    In my case, it says: FileNotFoundError: [Errno 2] No such file or directory: 'Z:\\home\\user\\.local\\share\\Steam\\steamapps\\common\\Oblivion\\Data\\OBSE\\Plugins\\AddActorValues.dll' it happens with all mods. I followed your guide on installing wrye bash and making it work.

    Oblivion Upscaled Textures (OUT) still won't work, even if I unpack to project and do it that way. Must have tried 20 different things by now. Infuriating. I've been modding games for 20 years, and Oblivion is by far the most troublesome. Guess I have to play with shitty vanilla textures and let my 4090 idle.
