Im gonna confess this here: i enjoyed oblivion more than skyrim, i really liked the quest for the guilds and i always remember the thieves guild the most.
Oblivion is the worse in the franchise to me. That being said, the worse elder scrolls is still a solid game. I agree that Skyrim lacked quests. But its world engaged me more. Oblivion writing is hit-and-miss for me. And its atrocious leveling and scaling system makes it a chore to play. The main story for both is horrendous. The Thieves Guild story is objectively shit. However, I agree that Oblivion writing overall is better than Skyrim's. A bar that's impossible to miss. You should play daggerfall unity. It's free and is now my favorite elder scrolls.
I was fairly young when I played it and it was also my first RPG, so I didn't understand how jacked up the leveling system was. I just enjoyed the quests and exploration
I have a lot of nostalgic memories of playing Oblivion. I felt far more at home in Cyrodiil than I did in Skyrim. To me a peaceful evening at home in Battlehorn Castle or visiting Chorrol to buy a new book was more satisfying than fighting a dragon on the tundra. And there were times when my best friend and I would be playing Skyrim and I'd suddenly say 'I miss Cyrodiil.'
@@AT-9777 if it serves as a good replacement, i discovered the game from my brother simply loving Skyrim... I love the oblivion estethic for sure, but the overall representation aside from the depiction of this medieval estethic is god awful. I hate Bethesda games for this reason alone, god awful engine... Really not sure how they manage to conpete woth elder ring etc. If they dont do something otherworldly in the future, they will dissapear from the gaming industry for sure. It was not a coincidence that Microsoft bought them, there has to be some radical changes, and frankly speaking, from seeing how they transformed Minecraft alone, i see the future TES entries as a rather exciting games. Its gonna be good for sure, but i assume that Microsoft is updating the engine, which is why it takes so long to make the new entry. But its gonna be a blast for sure, it has to be.
i grew up on Skyrim and just never really got into oblivion but oh my god it’s so much better in a lot of ways honestly, and don’t get me wrong skyrim is my baby

I found this while searching for its modded potential. I know it’s supposed to be good but judging by vanilla Skyrim, I could never play something as broken without fixes. Thanks for the updated video!
Meta Goblin has another channel and I didn't even know about it, what is this sorcery? You're right btw mate, Oblivion is the best RPG of all time! I'm on my 20th something play-through currently.. never gets old.
I didn't know the black bear was a rare drop. I remember having him on my 360 main character. I would summon it and wish I could ride it into town lol.
I believe Better Forts has incompatibles with Unique Landscapes unfortunately, there's a few patches but doesn't cover most of the forts UL covers over.
Actually, digging into it. You can use individual patches, just change the dependencies to the BF merge in wyre, and now it's just a few minor clippings easily fixed with disable in console in some locations, for the little issues and amount of content it provides it's passable
Thank you, I had no idea how to fix that scrolling issue and it really was annoying since I pretty much always have youtube in the background while I play
I've played a few times, but never beat it because the towers seemed really repetitive. Hopefully some mods can make the towers more enjoyable and less chore-like.
I just started a new playthrough on oblivion, which got me thinking about mods. Don't get me wrong oblivion it's great, but me thinks it could be better with select mods
i played alittle bit of oblivion like a year or 2 ago and it was great, i actually loved it alot but that was on console and i didnt get that far , i kinda just said alright ill come back to this game once i get a pc and can at least make the faces look better lol, welp here we go lol
Having played Skyrim first, I just couldn't get past the janky controls for Oblivion (even running it on the Series X). Now I have a pretty capable gaming PC so I'm hoping I can experience it finally with some great QoL mods.
It’s bad idea install either BC more so than UL tho you can choose one or two modules of UL and could be okay. They just make the game way too unstable.
Never done it myself but I’ve heard people say, and this makes sense from a programming perspective, installing multiple mods that modify the physical dimensions of the game world has potential to create a lot of buggy textures, buildings overlapping with each other, or one mod just overwriting another. In general if you have 2 mods changing the same thing you have the potential to create issues.
I have a problem with the nexus mods, some mods I downloaded say it's enabled but don't appear in the data file in the game, other mods work just fine not sure what's happening
I want to play either skyrim or oblivion again. I never played skyrim and I really enjoyed oblivion random quest encounters, does skyrim also have the same charm?
The only benefits skyrim has over oblivion is better combat and voice acting. The story is worse, world is a bit more bland and the skills are dumbed down. Its a great game though, just not as deep as oblivion.
Buy a cheap refurbished pc and get parts, like a rx 580 for a pci3 motherboard, power supply and 16gb of ram you can have a great starter pc that can play rdr2 on ultra with benchmarking, and shoot for at least a I7-3370 or 3.20ghz and up for your cpu
You need a Solid potatoe to Play this Game my man, i Play this on highest graphics on my Laptop without having a proper graphics Card it works With 50-60 FPS haha
Maybe I'm missing something but when I go to the Armamentarium complete mod, it says there are required downloads, but those files just bring up a 404 error. Specifically the ArmamentariumComplete1.35
Hey mate, thank you for the video. I originally missed Oblivion since my PC back then could not handle it. Just finished Morrowind and your video convinced me to give Oblivion a go. My question is: I'm a bit of a mod fiend and it looks to me Wabberjack might be the easiest way to get into the game but also the most limiting. What would you recommend? Go with the easy one and missing out on some cool features or spend a few dozen hours with manually tweaking everything until it runs in a somewhat stable manner?
I wanted to play oblivion again with mods but I’m not really familiar with modding anything so after I was sure I got the mods my game won’t get passed the loading screen
OBMM and Wrye bash you will need. The vortex mod manager is pretty good for most games but I've had troubles with it for oblivion. A good tip would be to make shortcuts to your steams common folder, as well as to get familiar with 7zip and dip your toes into manual installation, unless the mod has a installer then go with the managers

‘Best RPG of all time’, unfortunately can’t agree. Was a huge fan before Oblivion (when Morrowind came out i was 22), and was deeply disappointed in how generic the writing in Oblivion was, and how boring the endless Oblivion Gates were (and not optional if you were doing main quest). As a big Elder Scrolls fan when this game came out i was super excited, but then played 20 hours and put it down, never to play again. The only reason i’m going back now is that i can mod out the Oblivion gates and anything else i don’t like. Vanilla Oblivion was not the best RPG of all time, in this person’s opinion. But ymmv.
I didn't like Oblivion in 2006 without mods. Put your pitchforks and torches down, I played it again in like 2010 WITH mods and loved it. Bethesda games suck without mods. I played again in 2019 again with a huge modern modlist, and some mods I made myself. Almost killed me to get it working but I had a blast once I did. Considering playing again, but what kills the game for me, and I don't think mods can fix is like 1:43. The weapons just feel like you are swinging a balloon back and forth... it's too quick and has no... "ummph" if you know what I mean, there is like no impact. Drove me crazy in 2006 still bugs me.
Calling oblivion the best rpg of all time is like calling Mario kart the best racing game of all time, there are better racing games and it's basic to appeal to children

1:50 - you are showing us how great the mod is, and the dremora proceeds to run into a wall.... That was the most oblivion thing ever.
It’s actually kind of charming, the way you substitute “F” for “th” in your words. “Fru” for through, and so forth . 🙂
