I downloaded oblivion like a week ago and. And I was like bro where is all the modding that actually teaches you and not expect you to already know what your doing. Thank you so much for this video.
I am a veteran elder scrolls mod user and I've modded Daggerfall, Morrowind, And both Skyrims many times over for years, but for the life of me, I could never properly get Oblivion to run with mods. It would crash no matter what I did. I tried Obmm, manual installations, as well as MO2, vortex, and old versions of nmm. I tried even coding my own mod manager.. All because I fundamentally misunderstood Obmm. 11 years later, you're still helping people out with this. Fantastic tutorial! Also, your desktop is nostalgic.
Dude you are a sanity saver. After nearly throwing my computer out the window (okay not really but if felt like it for a bit) I finally came across your vid and was able to FINALLY install a few mods that I'd really wanted. Thank you so much.
This is the best tutorial i've seen regarding how to install your oblivion mods, the other ones out there are either way too long or they are poorly explained.
I can't thank you enough, good sir! This has been a tremendous help, and I really appreciate you voluntarily sacrificing your own free time to make this!
Excellent video man. It's amazing how hard it is to find a video that actually explains it as if it were being explained to a stupid person. I mean that seriously. Most people that are getting into this sort of thing aren't used to Bethesda game modding. This isn't your grandma's "create override folder, copy+paste file into folder" modding. Thanks for dumbing it down!
Still finding this helpful in 2020. Playing Oblivion on PC and modding it for the first time. Modding Skyrim was much easier haha. There was very little information about archive invalidation anywhere! Thank you for clearing that up!
This is awesome man. I just got into wanting to install mods, and I was at a loss. I can't believe it was this easy. I was making it so much harder then it had to be, I was about to give up. I love you.
THANK YOU THE DISCRIPTION HELPED ALOT iv been trying to figure out how to mod oblivion for the past 3 days following videos that didnt match and so thankyou again
Fantastic tutorial, i remember 3 years ago i was raging my ass off trying to figure out how to create omods using the mod manager(also didnt help that i had a shitty computer). and this tutorial pretty much guides anyone into the basics of adding mods in oblivion. bravo:D
dude ive read tons of shit on how to do this and u've explained it perfectly in this one video. You made it so much easier and sir I thank you for educating us OBMM noobs!
thanks for the video, now i know i was using the mod manager totally wrong.... ugh now to reinstall oblivion and redo everything. I look at the mods list in your videos and search them out to add them to my game, hopefully this time i will do it right and be able to enjoy a modded game for once. Subscribed.
dunno why you were so nervous about doing a voice tut, no one is gonna hate on you as long as your voice isnt like a pre-pubescent 12 year olds. its just majorly helpful to have a voice tut, great vid thanks!
THANKS FOR THIS VIDEO IT JUST SAVED MY ANUS and yes i know its like almost 9 years later but shit u saved me man been through skyrim for the 29th time and wanted to play oblivion but my textures didnt load holy cow u saved me
Thanks a lot for the vid. I've only considered myself a computer gamer for the past year or so, so I'm still quite new to mods. Hard for me to wrap my head around them, having been a console gamer for just about all my life. These tutorials on youtube always prove to be helpful and this is no exception. Time to see how else I can 'pimp out' Oblivion lol I now get fatigued while running, and will get tired, hungry and thirsty over time. Realism FTW! If you play STALKER SoC at all, try out 2009!
I must thank you a lot for this tutorial. The most things I've learned already the hard way(try clicking the 'right' buttons :D), but I've also learned one thing or two from this video. So a special thanks from me for the work :)
thank you so much i have been playing oblivion for years now big morrowind fan still dont know how for that but i obmm but had no idea how to use it really helped
Thank you very much this has proven usefull seeing as how i can actually understand what youre telling me unlike other tutorials that talk as if you knew what they were talking about
Thanks alot man, this video has really helped me out alot. I was realy confused when I first started to install mods (didn't understand mod manager) but now it'll be alot easier all thanks to you. I just don't really see the difference between 7-zip and winrar...guess I'm just a noob =P, thanks again!!
Nice vid. The only thing you forgot to mention is that you have to get WinRAR along with 7zip. Just makes things easier. I figured it out the hard way lol. But thanks for all the help.
You my sir, are a big goddamn hero! The readme files that come with the mods are as useless as a chocolate fireguard. You just saved me a lot of hassle! :)
@catmaster90 It does work with winrar and same principles apply. 1. find the download 2. extract it to a folder (mine is named oblivion mods on my desktop for convenence) 3. copy the the extracted file 4. create on the OMOD and you are done.
the readme helped me out. I downloaded the zip file to (install folder)\Oblivion\obmm\omod\ then you click create in OMM but instead of add folder you click add archive. Select it, hit yes, wait. It may take some time. Then click create omod. Click ok - name author and description if you want but its not required. It took several minutes for me to do both steps and it may look like it's frozen but it's not! It's just a huge mod.
In my personal opinion OMOD was great before NMM came out, and now I find OMOD to be obsolete. NMM used with Loot ( aka BOSS) is sooooo much easier. Unfortunately since many older games such as Fallout 3/NV and Oblivion many mods were created with OMOD, so now in order to download many mods for those games you have to use OMOD which is a royal pain in the ass.
Grendel Wolf BOSS has broken my game once. But I agree the fact that you need to use multiple different ways is annoying Or you could use only OBMM, but that is just loads slower than any other.
+Sindre torvund Eh, NMM isn't worth the problems. OBMM is still superior for Oblivion. NMM is more preferable for Skyrim. (To be clear, NMM is the most superior mod manager for MANY GAMES. I just prefer OBMM for oblivion.)
It's in the description. Right click the Mod Manager icon, click on properties, go to the Compatibility tab and check "Run as Administrator" If you bothered to read then I wouldn't have had to write this...
11 years later and this still helped.
Looking back on my old comments back when I had just come from modding Skyrim. Man I had no idea
Also get SkyBSA. It's an OBSE engine plugin that makes Oblivion use timestamps like Skyrim does. Removing the need for Archive Invalidation
New to modding oblivion, this was helpful to me too!
12 years now
14 years now ... and still helped
I downloaded oblivion like a week ago and. And I was like bro where is all the modding that actually teaches you and not expect you to already know what your doing. Thank you so much for this video.
True. The Description "Tutorials" for most of these are like "Use Mod Manager to Extract. Done" like Sorry?
Wherever you are, Murulo, I hope you know that even a decade after you've posted this, you're still helping ppl from all around the world. kingshits
Going on 13 years and this is still helping people
Finally. I know Oblivion is an old game, but I've seen far too many "What? You don't know how to install mods" comments!! Thanks for this.
Finally, a tutorial that doesnt expect you to know what you are doing...
Thank you uploader!
You are an absolute lifesaver. Coming from Skyrim, with the ease of Nexus Mod Manager, installing older Oblivion mods seemed impossible. Thank you!
Finally a good tutorial.
I needed OBMM for a specific mod and had no clue how to use it. lol. This was quite helpful, thanks!
14 later and this is still super helpful. Appreciate it! Hope you're doing well!

2021 here, never modded Oblivion, thank you for a video that doesn't treat me like I should already know what's going on lol
Dude you are a sanity saver. After nearly throwing my computer out the window (okay not really but if felt like it for a bit) I finally came across your vid and was able to FINALLY install a few mods that I'd really wanted. Thank you so much.

This video was SO helpful. Apparently working this isn't nearly as confusing as I was afraid it would be.
dude ive read tons of shit on how to do this and u've explained it perfectly in this one video. You made it so much easier and sir I thank you for educating us OBMM noobs!
Thank you for making this! I've been confused and frustrated as heck trying to get mods to work!!! THANKS!

Thank man for the help, I was completly on the darkness (how dramatic!) but now I see, thanks again!
Wow that was a fast response; I wasn't expecting on from such an old video, anyways, thanks. I've been getting OBMM to work, I think.
Fantastic guide, and I love the commentary (as compared to text script). Thank you for the post.
Dude, you are a life saver, I'm a newbie at this modding thing and this video made it a miracle!
I thought it was "the Weapon of the fallen Herpes"
Not only was the tutorial helpful, but the background amused me. :3
Thanks Murulo :D ! Your help is invaluable for OMOD :P.
Great tips !
(omod conversion was a cloud of confusion, but now it's easy as pie !)
Thank you very much this has proven usefull seeing as how i can actually understand what youre telling me unlike other tutorials that talk as if you knew what they were talking about

Can you do a tutorial with OMM for the Oblivion Character Overhaul V2?
the readme helped me out.
This is a great video, very well made and very thorough.

If you bothered to read then I wouldn't have had to write this...
