Really good information, I have my first Black lab that is going to be my duck hunting partner. have never trained a dog before but I like your style of training.
Pretty sure he would have taken a much better adjustment on that first correction, if you had given him a couple seconds to lock in on you after the whistle and given a slower cast.
Looking forward to seeing your entire DVD on you tube! I also use a dummy launcher mounted on a rifle stock when training alone. I use dead bird when hunting for crippled pheasants/ducks, so my cue is "blind" to start setup for blind retrieves.
Thanks. I am going to put the entire DVD on you tube. Most people now are seeking to train labs to field trial standard. They think their dog must be fast above all else, they use shock collars, have whining dogs, most are not interested in training a well behaved hunting companion. They buy the "hottest" dogs they can afford, and the industry has conditioned them to think this is normal. Although I have sold some DVD's, its not really worth the work.
I love watching the way you train your dogs. I like how you don't use ecollars and you appear to train a very functional hunting retriever. I know the video is no longer for sale but do you know where I might get my hands on one.
Yes, I am uploading an entire collection over the next month. This video is a demonstration of the final product, the details of how to achieve it will follow.
I emailed you a while ago about getting a copy of your DVD. You said you could get me one. Please contact me to let me know how I can acquire one. Thanks.
Hi Jeremy, I know that I have three or four left, but could not find them after I wrote back to you. I then moved to Wisconsin and I'm here now. When I get back to Canada I will check in my basement, if I find them you will get one.
canadianwingshooter great. thank you so much. I was so glad to hear you still had some. I have been looking for a good training system that wasn't so heavily reliant on e collars. I really enjoy watching your videos and im looking to train a good hunter not necessarily a field trial dog.

Fabulous job! Congratulations! ( Just curious - why is the DVD not for sale anymore? )
