That was the EXACT review that I needed since I am trying to decide which to buy. I don't know why RING won't post this information on their website?!? They should at least put a link in their "support" and/or "community" sections to YOUR review. CONGRATS and THANKS!!

Once again, you killed it. You’re video reviews are by far the most informative as far as product description, physical and visual explanation, and I really love the fact that you speak very detailed and in paced, unlike other tech reviews they speak way too fast and most of the time miss the smallest important detail because of the speed rate of their speeches. I finally subscribed to your channel because all your reviews are so clear and very descriptive down to detail.
You should do the comparison reviews of the RING INDOOR CAM(wired) vs RING STICK UP CAM(wired) !

100 % agree with the need for Ring to create a privacy mode, this is the only factor that's stopping me from adding this to my back yard, As we speak I am in the market for a camera in the patio but I am very hesitant with Ring for this issue only.

Great vid. Thanks for sharing. Simple comparisons and methods of sharing, like using the cones for motion detection really set this aside. The dfifferences are not actually shared by Ring and therefore their online manuals/descriptions are quite misleading from previous experience. So much so that when I challenged them they sent me a wired version as the wireless wasn't up to scratch. Keep up the great work Thanks again.

Very good & thorough video. I wonder if Ring has the ability to wire directly into outdoor light that sits next to the front door? It seems like a heck of a lot of extra wire if electricity is close-by. I’m no expert but I wonder if they have a unit with integrated outdoor light?

Something I can’t quite figure out. I have an assortment of stick up & wired cams throughout the house inside and out and I used to run a stick up battery cam in my basement hallway and it was far enough back to also catch my Home Theater room, it worked flawlessly. Then I moved the stick up cam from the basement to outside driveway and added a Wired cam to the basement hallway and since day one if watching my tv in the dark it reeks havoc on the cams IR and it’s constantly switching on & off. The clicking is so annoying that I have to go into the app and disable IR and re-enable afterwards every time. My stick up cam battery never had this issue once.

    • @LifeHackster

This is an older video and with the older models of the stickup cams (2nd Gen). The 3rd Gen now has a battery and wired power options..so you can set it up wired and add a battery for backup.. But, remember, your WIFI (router) also needs to have a backup power for the Ring Stickup cam to record to the cloud when the power is out.

As you mention that there is no major benefits of the POE to WiFi connection, I think there may be a Big advantage to having a POE wired connection. One, the connection is constant and no lost of signal unless of course your router/modem or electricity goes off line. The second is that whenever you happen to change your router password for security reasons, I imagine this updated password would be done automatically w/o having to physically take down your wired stick up camera to depress the orange set up button to change password. Please comment if this differs. Thank you for your ongoing commitment to testing and providing positive & negative feedback on the latest security cameras on the market.

I’ve tested mind pointing out the window and the view is great and the motion detection works fine. However..the night vision with the red LEDs is useless because the glass reflects the glow of the red lights. You have to disable them and use just ordinary night vision which is of pretty poor quality.

@@LifeHackster Sorry, I meant to say not on phone and on the app. Maybe it's an Europe or Android thing. I only have the someone is at you door (voice) and some other stupid ones(barking dogs, wind chimes etc)
