Dude did all the setup for Fortissax and talked about him repeatedly and still forgot him lol.
The skill it requires to play at this level while being so precise in the explanations, and all that in a foreign language is so impressive
I'd say english is super easy to learn these days

Okay, this has gotta be the best Elden Ring Speedrun video I've seen. It's fun, it's informative, it's efficient and interactive.

Catalystz is such an entertaining runner. He provides such great commentary.
It’s always weird when stream viewers come in and write bot-level comments of praise.
His commentary feels a little frantic to me, watching his runs at marathons usually stresses me out.
@@DontSigh He cannot stop talking. He feels the urge to constantly show off his knowledge, and this becomes tiresome over time. Where it is great however is when he is commenting his actions in the boss fights.

okay, for me this is why he's one of my favourite runners. can't stand those silent runs, cause i want to know why they do every move exactly the way they're doing it. that kind of put the souls games on another level for me, cause it shows the game design in all its details ... or i'm just a chitty chatty geek, could be that way too :D

I hate when the runner goes with the sarcastic angle and says: "oyeah this next boss is super hard I need serious time" and then they kill it in 5 seconds and only they and their couch laughs.
Its not funny because I dont understand what is going on.
Also I like that they give their pronouns so I know what to call them to piss them off.

I watched this run last night after being recommended to it from the unrestricted agdq 2024 run that just happened. It was kind of a tired night, didn't feel like doing much, so I just relaxed with cata and followed along and that was my evening. Eventually after it finished I went and got ready for bed, and then I was lying in bed trying to fall asleep and I went, "wait... he didn't kill Fortissax. That was silly."
That's all, I just thought it was funny that he totally forgot and invalidated the run and nobody noticed, and then it registered with me in that particular way. Maybe he had the same moment later that night.
Reminds me of Jacksepticeye's most recent Bloodborne playthrough on TH-cam, where he was like "I'm going to show you all the bosses" and then at the very end when he's just wrapping up during the credits he's suddenly like, "I forgot to do Laurence! Fuuuck!"

Cool run and lots of neat info and skips here. It does show me why they nerfed Flame of the Redlands, when speedrunners found out you can cheese any boss with it and get a free stagger from two quick, cheap, ranged attacks that never miss.

Dude basically instantly kills maliketh then dies to Gideon… I’m stunned lol. Maliketh was one of the bosses that gave me the most trouble originally- but I guess knowing about his low poise and knowing exactly what it takes to quickly stagger him makes a big difference (plus skill obv as well).

Such a great run, and a fantastic commentary.
The only thing that I don't love about this is the repeated "quit to menu" sequence to run past enemies during the Ranni quest. I get why its allowed, but something about continually resetting to avoid interacting with the game mechanics feels... antithetical to the spirit of the speedrun.

A tip if you are having problem with NPC fights, use Eleonora's twin blade. They dodge to the input but eat the rest of the combo, also the bleed is pretty nice
or just use a colossal sword with giant hunt or lions claw and continually toss them in the air or flatten them

Why isn't the consecrated snowfield skip considered a glitch?
He talks about it a bit during the run but it sounds like the community just decided to allow it in this category. Defeating commander Niall is the only hard part of getting to consecrated snowfield. Allowing the glitch after Niall saves a bunch of running around and makes the run more fun
Never played elden ring, looks really good. Doesn't look too hard like I heard?
How does he get that damage from serpent slayer while barely leveling, I don't even get that from a +9 bloodhound fang
