Glitch runs are a ton of fun but MAN is it cool to see a game like this beaten in the standard way, just very very quickly and occasionally with a blindfold.
Absolutely agree. Seeing a heavily glitched run is neat, but very boring, very quickly, when they just zip past each boss. Watching someone actually do some combat and gameplay is almost always going to be a lot more to watch
@@eXJonSnow i think its because the average player will relate to the experience much more. i think for other runners it can be really interesting to see someone perform insanely hard glitches, but the average player never tried those so the difficulty of them is very meaningless. on the other hand, seeing someone demolish a boss that took you 50 tries or so will be jaw dropping. also, because they take longer, there is more to see, which is also nice
19:45 i think somebody explained to me that fall damage starts at 15 meters, and at 20 meters it's always instant death. so the total range where fall damage takes place is actually pretty tiny, it's usually either fine or death, making it seem really arbitrary.
Yes, the yt channel Illusory Wall made a very nice video explaining all of it. The only thing that matters is the height difference between where you leave the ground and where you touch the ground again. Which is why double jumps do nothing against fall damage.
I thought Gideon just took on everyone's abilities but him using the bosses YOU fought to me is actually so cool and crazy fun boss design. I should've guessed when he took on Malenia's abilities. It's actually a difficult fight if you took on absolutely everything before that fight I also love the praise for back up runners at the end. That's not something you think of for events as big as GDQ has gotten that not everyone can make it or maybe happenstance happens and you're locked in to that situation and backup runners are great to have right there so everyone who's attended or donated or just watching get something to all watch and come together through. I'm glad he got to have this solid run
That blindfolded maliketh was crazy. I had a friend rage out so hard when he kept dying to Maliketh, so seeing someone kill him with a freaking BLINDFOLD on is so awesome to see x)

So cool thing: getting on and off Torrent doesnt have I-frames. You can see that Torrent takes damage, about half his health, there’s just no stagger. So you gotta be careful of his health before doing that.

It took me 22 tries to kill the DTS as a casual, to know there was even a remote chance of just swatting him off the cliff infuriates me, elden ring...whhhyyyyy
Fall dmg was fully explained by zulie the witch here on youtube speedruners! maybe watching her vids will open new routes? she does explain a lot of technical stuff
