Why is this stuff so comforting? I never owned a Saturn, but always wanted to as a kid. I've always been oddly obsessed with how the Saturn era of Sonic looks and sounds, I think SEGA's creative side was the most optimistic it'd been about improving technology which is why what we got on the Saturn was so charming, regardless of how they games may have played/been presented. It's just a real big shame they were never able to make that one mainline Sonic game that solidified the Saturn to many fans, though I do feel like Sonic Mania, regardless of not actually being a Saturn game, is a good introduction to this era of Sonic because it's *almost* this at core; especially in regards to music as I feel like the OST for Sonic Mania is really trying to be a Saturn era OST, just with modern production techniques.

Really appreciate these kinds of videos, especially this one in particular because I'm super fascinated with this "what-if" era of Sonic, one that I often think about whenever I get in a "sonic mood". The line up we got though are honestly really interesting games to me, Jam & R in particular. The Saturn games just have so much soul to them. The VHS effect with the added audio really adds on to the feel. Would've been cool to hear the vocals too but the instrumentals still get the job done. Very relaxing & atmospheric music. Keep up the good work, dude. Your stuff isn't going unappreciated!
This channel is super cozy. Randomly stumbled upon it & stayed for the vibes. I wasn't alive for this era of Sonic but as others have said there's a calming, chill vibe to the mid 90s Sonic aesthetic. Cant get enough of it.
played the aus pc port by Valusoft of Sonic R and Sonic 3D (alternately titled "Flickies Island") and they were my best childhood memories. the music was amazing and has impacted my tastes to this day much to my older sibling's chagrin. it was the perfect mix of old sonic and new without too much detail to character design. sonic still looks like classic sonic but in 3d and i loved it. many hours playing with my brothers on Sonic R trying to beat the stages faster and collect over 300 rings by the end of the stage. Sonic 3d is the reason i like sorta slippery controls cause it felt i had to put more strength into the experience. amazing gameplay to my 6 year old self and i still think that way today. also gamehut has great videos made my Jon Burton who headed Traveller's Tales who was contracted to make both titles.
17:41 it's amazing how this song reminds me of the mega drive/32x era (maybe the drums) and at the same time it sounds like a song made for sonic adventure (maybe egg carier/final egg)
sometimes i wanna sweep up the indie n64/ps1/saturn inspired games that have been making a resurgent, and put them in a sub-library on steam and make custom covers or banners as if it was boxart
This is the kind of music that I would record on cassette tapes and listen on my Casio cassette player back when I was 9. I rememeber how kids would ask to listen with me at school and then go "when is the music going to start?" ... I could never get them to understand that instrumental music is music. As if lyrics talking about "intercourse with you" was a necessity for something to be music.

Sega Saturn era of sonic is the embodiment of sonic's 90s attitude it's not too retro like Genesis or to modern like dreamcast adventure and beyond when I think of playing sonic as a happy 90s kid just getting into Sega these what I want to think of the most if only they showed more of the sonic universe on the Saturn my inner metaphorical 90s child in me would be so happy
Though a lot of people will say the sonic Saturn era is incredibly mediocre I think it is severely underrated sure there were no mainline games but when I got to experience them I thought they were really fun and on a old tv it gives off a really cool vibe It’s a bummer that most people just see this era as one of sonic’s dark ages

Such a basic video, but you know, all I need are these old renders, these old songs and a little bit of TV static and I am taken to another world
sonic is just something else 🔥🔥 hopefully they make a new good game thx for uploading
This is amazing, it makes it feel like you’re listening to it through your memory. Super unique and easy on the ears.
bomb playlist! thanks :)
Wow I did the same thing.
@@Vincent_Upstate Recently I got a Sony MZ-R37 Minidisc Walkman and I am doing the same thing again now on the "new" media format of mini disc. Such a beautiful machine from simpler times.
This, along with the Dreamcast era, has a vibe that's impossible to replicate. It feels like... Home
Omg I love this era so much. Something about this era made us feel excited and optimistic for the future. Words can't explain but if you know, you know
I hope the next one is Mega Drive Sonic. The glory days 🥹
Reminds me of the night's into dreams soundtrack ❤
The more you know I didn't even know they had a VHS ost sweet
Holy cow 3D Blast's soundtrack is incredible
Aural antidepressants from my childhood, injected directly into my ears! As seen on TV! Thanks!
loooooove the warmth
Emerald Clouds is an absolute killer, almost makes me wanna drop some rhymes on it 😆
Sega Saturn era of sonic is the embodiment of sonic's 90s attitude it's not too retro like Genesis or to modern like dreamcast adventure and beyond when I think of playing sonic as a happy 90s kid just getting into Sega these what I want to think of the most if only they showed more of the sonic universe on the Saturn my inner metaphorical 90s child in me would be so happy
Dang, what a vibe 🎶
Long live the Saturn!
Nostalgia for a era i wasnt in funny feeling
Ayeeeeeee, Sonic R’s soundtrack definitely needs love. The options menu jazz lick is the sickest
Im always happy that you opt for the instrumental versions of the songs in all these videos
Perhaps, is better than era Dreamcast.
3:54 HOLY SHIT the memories this just brought back wow.
I have been subconsciously singing this melody for years not remembering where it was from, that's crazy
I haven't heard this song in sooooo long, and wow it sounds exactly like what I'd been singing haha
that Sonic R: Options Screen, what the fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck.........
idk why but I get a hint of anxiety watching this. Those analog horror videos fucked me up my god, I feel like something's gonna jump out from the water or appear behind the mountains to scare my soul out😵💫(cool vid tho nonetheless)
I wish I could play sonic adventure dx on ps5
So aesthetic
