It is absolutely insane to me to see kids these days treating the Wii how my generation treated the N64. For reference, I'm 26 years old, I got a Wii for Christmas the year it came out. For those of you that weren't alive during that time, the Wii is a very special console. I know that that's just my own nostalgia speaking, but there is something special about the Nintendo Wii. I remember the early commercials with the two Japanese men that would visit your house, and they would bow and say "Wii would like to play with you." Just one piece of advice for you: don't forget to enjoy what's going on around you right now. In about 15 years people are going to be looking at the Nintendo Switch the same way we are looking at the Nintendo Wii in this comment section today. The Wii era was magical, but the current eras have magic too 🙂
Dude I feel that hard. Just turned 25 a couple weeks ago and hate how much I took for granted. Still use my original Wii I got for Christmas back in 2006 from time to time, recently have been playing through Kirby's Epic Yarn and Super Mario Bros 3 with the woman I plan on proposing to in a couple weeks. Wild how time flies, you really just have to stop and appreciate the little things as they come.
Turning 24 and I agree. The Wii was the first Console I ever camped out overnight in a Walmart for it's release. There were so many games for the wii that became huge parts of not only me and my sister lifw but pretty much my whole intermediate family since they would come over and help us beat Mario galaxy, warioware, guitar hero, and of course Wii sports and play. Man... Its very bitter sweet looking at those time cus even tho life is cool as an adult now, back then it really was the best times ever. My whole life was just waiting to get out of school to get home and work on completing these games.
Maybe they might? I feel like they went very safe with the switch because of how poorly the wii u did. They couldn't gamble on gimmicks too much so they needed to play it safe with this console (minus the whole...ya know, switch aspect from handheld to TV lol) We'll just have to wait and see what they do next, I hope at the very least they bring back backwards compatibility in some form

its honestly remarkable how well the wii has aged. i think it entered the right era of graphics at just the right time, ontop of it just being so unique. i suppose the switch is as well, and i predict that will hold up just as well, but there's something so magical about the entire design of the wii
I have a 4 year old and recently put one in his room. I don't have many games for it so I modded it and he can play whatever he likes from the SD card. Hes absolutely loving mario kart and mario bros
I remember waking up early on a Saturday morning and sneaking out into the living room to turn on the Wii. My older brothers would soon hear it too and come join me. We would all come together and race in MarioKart, then fight in Super Smash Bro's, then my parents would wake up and we'd all weigh ourselves on Wii Fit. My family would have a 'game night' with Wii Sports and have a big game of bowling together and we'd all spin around if the ball went backwards. It was a truly magical time. I miss that era, where nothing in the world mattered more than well-treasured family time playing the Wii.
My family loves and plays Wii Sports, but sadly they don't do that spinning like the Mii's when the ball goes backwards and they just swear. (Swear: Saying bad words.)
Nostalgia hitting real hard. Loved when everything wasn't all minimalist and focus was on such strong musical vibes...now listening all these years later makes us remember times where the only troubles we had was that one part of a game we couldn't beat.

I got my Wii for Christmas in 2007 when I was 5 years old. I was visiting my cousins up in the woods up in Washington, and it was my first Christmas with snow (very HEAVY, pure white snow as far as the eye could see). We got the console with Wii Sports, Wii Play, and a weird little Tomogachi party game, but my sister and I didn't even care about the games, we just loved to play in the Mii Maker and the photo app (we would put in an SD card and edit all the photos of us in the snow, by adding stickers and effects). Aytime I hear Wii era music, I remember being in that house, sitting on the tan carpeted floor, and playing on that old blocky CRT tv, as snow fell outside the window. Now that I'm an adult, I am actually making a game WITH those Washington cousins, and we are trying to capture that feeling and that Wii era (in a game that kind of combines AC: City Folk with Nintendo Land). I really appreciate this video, cause one of my jobs on this game is to make the music, so I have just been listening to a TON of Wii/U/DS (and even GameCube) fruitger aero mixes (for reasearch), and this is easily the best one I've found so far. Thank you so much! I'm subscribed and excited to hear the other mixes you have made. :)
is there a way I can see/follow progress on your game? city folk was a childhood favorite of mine and Nintendo Land might be the best party game to exist, so I'd definitely be interested in seeing what you guys are making!
This got me. I think we all remember the first time we turned on our Wii and were just overwhelemed by it all. I've since moved out of my childhood home, but have the Wii up here with me still. As others said, nothing can match/capture that magical moment of the anticipation leading up the holidays, knowing that it's all you've been asking for for months. It quite literally brought the family together; my dad and I playing Wii tennis, and even some of his friends from work when they came for dinner would want to try out Wii boxing and Baseball, and it was just amazing how it brought all of these people together. Magical. No other words to describe it
yea I’m 26, this is worded so well. Kind of hits a bittersweet note. i remember we moved to a nice new neighborhood right as the wii came out and literally like the entire neighborhood would come by to play wii, and everybody had their own special game they liked (i.e., you and your dad w tennis, me and my grandpa liked bowling.) then nobody noticed when it just kind of faded away. Truly such a beautiful time. You can’t buy memories like that.

I definitely agree as far as style and music, though current era has extremely good games. I hope they strike a better balance with the next system, because as much as I love the switch as a system, the UI/UX is so bland
The drastic lack of personality the switch has compared to the 3ds is something I'll never get over, i used to boot up my 3ds every day just to get some free plays on badge arcade to customize my home screen with unique icons and badges of my favourite games, and now you cant even get a custom background outside of black and white. also i forgot who the crocodile eats which era is better?
Interestingly enough, Bob (the cat shown in the video) was actually one of the first villagers created for the very first Animal Crossing game on the Nintendo 64 (his birthday being January 1st), and this explains why he’s appeared in every game and piece of media (except the Japanese-exclusive movie).

@neomoonnim it's a great console for the same reason the gamecube is, it didn't have much third party so nintendo had to pull out their A game on first party games. Yeah, some of them were stinkers. But the wii u had pikmin 3, mario kart 8, mario 3d world, botw, xenoblade x, and a few more I'm probably forgetting. While pretty much all the great wii u games are on switch now, they started on wii u. (Another one that I'll say is mario party 10 EVEN though everyone hates it, I loved that game TvT)

If I hope to keep the wii so that if I ever have kids they can enjoy it too! It’s a shame not many if any kids are going to experience it too. So I want to keep it! Plus, it’s fun to indulge in it even now sometimes
I barely remember the first time I got my WII, I believe one of my dads friends just gave one to me with some games on it, like Smash Bros Brawl, Sonic and the Black Knight, Wii sports and Wii sports resort, and probably a few others. I have no idea if I still have my Wii (haven't checked out the closet to find it). All I can say is that it brought me so many good memories, and having any old gen nintendo console is an experience you could really never forget. The feelings they gave you as you played through it were unlike anything any other console could give you.
It's not just Nintendo that quit trying, really all the gaming companies quit trying to some degree. Simple background music here and there, better interface designs, just overall more details and more time spent on making a worthwhile and full experience in the tiniest things. We need to see gaming companies return to this.

No. We're moving to minimalism. We're definitely going in a different era. The 2006 period was a time marked by tech-optimism and future optimism. The future was a clean, beautiful peaceful place where Technology and nature found their perfect balance. 2006 had the Frutiger aero / Web 2.0 Gloss / Digital Dream Utopia aesthetic. Everything was clean, high def, rounded corners, bubbles, water, utopian, fresh and happy. That was the image of the future that we were striving for, Looking at the world now it's quite the opposite.
@@wintutorials2282 I hate to admit it, but you just described it *perfectly.* Nowadays you'll notice the complete opposite: Pessimism, Dystopia, Corporate sludge. Nowadays, people just spew out streams of garbage content, prioritizing quantity rather than quality to make a quick buck. There's an intense lack of creativity and originality since people are just copying the latest trends, rather than creating their own original piece of work (e.g. content farm channels). Manmade artwork is dying (e.g. the rise of AI artwork discouraging people from wanting to learn how to draw, if they can just ask a computer to do it for them). Then to top it all off, the designs used in the Late 2000's/Early 2010's is now long gone. All websites now have sharp edges with flat, dull, lifeless colors (or if there is color, it's eye-strainingly bright to grab your attention). If I had one wish, I would wish for the return of tech/future-optimism. We're getting there, little by little, since the discovery of *Solarpunk,* but we've got a long way to go.

Aww that's so cute, I wish I'd lived this too
My family loves and plays Wii Sports, but sadly they don't do that spinning like the Mii's when the ball goes backwards and they just swear.

Good luck for the game ! Something that can simulate the Wii era's feeling would be very cool. I hope that everything would go well with it !
is there a way I can see/follow progress on your game? city folk was a childhood favorite of mine and Nintendo Land might be the best party game to exist, so I'd definitely be interested in seeing what you guys are making!
Can you ask your mom if I can come over?

you misspelled 'tamagotchi', 'frutiger' and 'research' as 'tomogachi', 'fruitger' and 'reasearch'.

I'm a playstation kid, but I love every second I spent with my niece playing wii together even though some games are a little boring for me. I play this playlist whenever I miss my niece in the middle of the week, it reminds me of her lol
They were cooking September 2015 🔥🔥🔥
So was Toby Fox, with a little game he called "Undertale".
Nostalgia is comforting
I was a teenager in the days of Frutiger Aero, I did not realize how nostalgic I would be for it!
my entire childhood contained in one collection of soundtracks
i love this!! thank you for making this!
Oh, I never new that the 3DS just took the DSi music and sort of put it in a higher quality. Wow though, although I never grew up with any of these (other then the 3DS, long live the 3DS), still gives me a nice feeling, and I love it!
