@@GarageBuiltHondas no problem brotha. Honestly just sitting in the sun makes the micro scratches disappear but yeah just introducing heat causes it to self heal, same as most vinyls.
I probably would not have sealed it in but rather either used an oem sunroof cassette or simplified thin plastic tray for drainage into the oem channels. That way it is not only functional in keeping you dry buy also still open for a full sunroof restoration. Just keep a look out for parts to fully restore the sunroof to operational condition. Full sunroof parts are not as common but does happen often enough to not be considered impossible or wishful thinking. Great job anyways and another win for the community as an option for the sunroof dilema.
I want every last ounce of weight removed from this car. The options you mentioned would be good for someone with a car that's a lot cleaner too. Mines rough, and just a fun track car.
Hey brother I was looking on TH-cam for DIY video on how to delete my sunroof on my 05 civic ex and I'm seeing that everybody used aluminum, but you used Lexan glass instead I was wondering if you could tell me the thickness of the glass so I can do mine, please.
Great video came out great looks oem im definitely going to do this you know Y&S sales scratch proof lexan.... I seen another video the guy removed the oem glass off & just used that with the oem Seal i think if not maybe it was aftermarket one but i like this way better so much lighter
I would get a sheet re made and keep it factory re work the motor that pulls the heat out so well. Run window heat always the heat out the top the good air circulation around you with it closed cabin temps rise more than 26degrees your weight in degrees of wear on the motor in heat exchange against your oil that now gets hotter still because of lexan cools your motor less.
Very helpful! I'm trying to do the same thing but with a Dodge Challenger. When you installed the L brackets did you have to drill holes for the fasteners?
Great job! Will the steel lip that is perpendicular to the roof be an issue for the track? I know you’re wearing a helmet so that’ll be good, but perhaps it could take a slice out of it during a roll over…More of an issue for a street vehicle where the Noggin’ ain’t covered…thoughts?
Steel? isn't it aluminum he can add the leftover rubber trim around it but the oem sunroof is a lot bigger & it wasn't a problem before he should have a lot more room now
With my harness and race seat I don't think I'll be moving upwards at all thankfully, but definitely seems like it could be an issue if you have stock seats and belts.
Do you have a link to the seal? God I wanna remove my sunroof too but I wanna keep it so it’s reversible in future. This looks the best by far. Sick of my helmet hitting the pillar when I look left lol
I was hoping for a shirt to sport, Jon said he'd send one out to me for donating a manifold to the channel. A few months later, I got a few stickers😥. Which I have put on some of my cars & toolbox, thanks Jon. But a shirt would've been cooler 😘
do you wind it warps at all during use? Any up and down variance? And is the sealant removable - I would wan the option of putting my sunroof back in down the road potentially
Do you still have that issue with the harmonic balancer hitting the radius rod for your reaction bar? I do have a solution for you if you're interested.
Looks sick brotha 💪 a heat gun takes the scratches out. Or a torch 😁
Thanks for that tip man! I'll try it out!

@@deadbeatgarage with the great info 👍 #dbfam
I did something similar, but used my oem roof. Also added wingnuts so 4 takes it off on nice days.
Yes, this is what I imagined
His final choice is exactly how I will be doing mine, just as soon as my 770-NC mold release shows up so I can make my carbon fiber delete sheet.
Great job man came out sick looking And that seal around it is like a cherry on top

A very timely video for me!!! Thank You Jon!!!

Yes, they do but not in black. And I didn't want sunlight hitting me. It's so darn hot here already.
1:17s coming soon??
Hoping to stay consistent sub 20 CCW. Hoping to get to like 1:22 CW. True A class car.
@Garage Built Hondas is it a true a class car though??? 🤔 lol

@@GarageBuiltHondas Thanks. Did you use any sealant for the outside of the rubber seal?
No

If you roll a crx, that might not be your biggest worry.

Spicy !!😮
John do you know where I can find a proper full car wiring diagram for the 88 Dx? Struggling to find such a thing. Lights, engine etc…
I do not. Google search it. You may find some documents for it online.

Man I miss my EF shirt, mine has mysteriously disappeared lol. Still have my 25K shirt though

I haven't made any since 2020. Sorry!
@Garage Built Hondas I appreciate that you took the time & remembered to send out stickers.
So i need help. Does anyone know the part number for an s40 transmission axle seals ?
hey man how’s that black dash looking like? do you like the method you did a couple months ago i want to do it to my blue dash on my hatch
I love it. Solid as can be!
@@GarageBuiltHondas thank you man i’m going to attempt it and let you know how it goes

I don't have any clearance issues at all.
@GarageBuiltHondas oh gotcha all good! Is it still making that grinding noise on right turns? If no did yoj figure it out?
Not yet. New rack and wheels bearings installed recently. Will be testing it out within the next month.
Where did you find the rubber seal at for so cheap?
eBay
Dam looks good 🔥
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
That's a lot of weight you took out, the car will definitely feel different, time will tell what the heat does to it
Up high too. Its subtle but noticable.
😅 Nice, ❤👌
🔥🔥🔥😇😉🍻🍺
minus 27 kg!! Good luck to you.
Its mostly the mechanism, I did a similar thing using the oem sunroof panel, but deleting the rest.
