I don’t have a fear of flying but know someone who does. Watching this made me cry happy tears, especially to see Eva’s reaction too. Fantastic achievement. Well done all. ❤
Who else cheered when she got into the air? I'm so proud of her!
Yes I am too there’s a lot to be said for a person take it over calm their fears fly bravo congratulations👏👏👏👏👏
Well done Liz x
BRAVE gal facing her fears
It was not that hard for me overcome my Aviophobia, I was quite a little bit terrified of flying until I realized that most airplanes are actually very safe. Although I also actually love airplanes. I even successfully overcame my fear of airplanes, too.
Curious 1. Why when a plane takes off off the runway, it feels like it's going slow or weightless during the ascent? 2. Are planes heavier than cars or boats relative to the size?
1. Not sure what you mean, the speed could be a relative thing. Nothing close by you can relate the speed to, but they are definitely hoofing it. 2. Both, a little Cessna 172 weighs the same as a Mini Cooper ~2550lbs, a Fully Laden A380, ~1,300,000 lbs
I overcame my fear of the airplane falling out of the sky and crashing on the ground by getting a pilot's license. I never had a fear of flying, just a fear of crashing, and a fear of not being in control.
Sea Dog : are you a pilot now ?
Yep. I have a complex endorsement and high performance endorsement. I just passed the written exam for instrument rating and should have that completed in a couple of weeks. Next, I'll do commercial and then tail-wheel/aerobatics.
Sea Dog were have you flew people so far ?
Sea Dog That's awesome congrats!
I love planes and the speed but don't really like flying ahah
I feel like that ... Its not the flight... He just said it as i was typing ...its the control...but its not a problem...the laws of physics i understand ... I am not in control...
I have a fear that some drunk or someone claustrophobic may try to open the exit door and I am sitting at the exit door and don't want to be sucked out of the plane
Its impossible to open the door while in the air and pressurised. Don’t panic.
That’s a small plane too! She’ll do much better in a bigger plane. YAY!
From which broadcast/documentary is this video taken from? Could you please provide a link? Thank you
i have a slight fear of flight my mane fears are tubrlance air pockets and what if a drunk person phones someone on a plane and the plane falls down and what if a bird flys into a window and it smashes and all the oxygen is sucked out and the o2 masks dont come down
you dont have to be afraid ;)
- planes can easily handle turbulence, the wings are very flexible (they can flex up to 7 or 9 meters) and the pilots are trained for situations like these
- air pockets are very small and planes travel very fast, so they get out of them quickly, the plane just falls a couple of feet, its impossible that a plane crashes because of air pockets.
- phones don't make planes fall out of the sky, the reason they ask you to turn it off, is to avoid interferences with radio communication. Also, ONE phone call is not going to interfere in such a huge plane.
- the front windows in the cockpit are designed to resist a bird strike
- in case of decompression in the cabin, there is no way that NONE of the oxygen-masks come out. Lets say your mask doesnt fall, cabin crew has additional oxygen bottles, AND shouldnt that be the case, pilots are trained to immediatly fly to a lower altitude, where you can breathe normal.
OMG... thank you so much.
I never thought about the fact that the pilots would fly lower to get oxygen like you mentioned in the last sentence... you're totally right...
Your comment helped me a lot.
Hugs!
6 yrs later have you improved?
If you think planes are scary, don't go up into a helicopter!!
Compared to me, this girl is little league. I'm not just saying that to sound like a youtube, keyboard tough-guy, but she seriously has nothing on me. I would sit and chat with you all day long about it but I'd never take one step in the direction of the plane and if you tried to force me, well.....let's say you'd be risking your life. No one in the world is worse than I am when it comes to flying.........and I truly wish that I could be different. :((
2 yrs later have you made any progress?
i have a fear of roller coasters :/
Don't go on a roller coaster then!!!! Sometimes you have to go on a plane!!!
Olivia Smith I have a fear of people like you.
o_O
Olivia Smith *Ahem* Sorry, bit of a rude joke. Roller coasters are fun!
A plane is not even close to a rollercoaster. Actually if you have clean smooth air its smoother than riding in a car.
