I think my fear of flying was derived from my childhood when I used to watch all these plane crash investigations and top ten worst plane crashes on TV. The TV influenced how I thought of planes as a child and still up to today. What should I do about that as I feel this does not fit in any of the categories put forward?
Hi Luke, yes you're absolutely right & the TV did influence how you thought of planes as a child. What you now need to do is to change your perspective and look at planes as an adult, as the child watching those programs did not understand that they were the minority and not a majority of cases. Aviation technology gets safer and safer each year, and in fact 2017 was the safest in aviation history. 2 thousand million flights were taken with no adverse events. In the same way, watching the news and people rioting or being killed does not represent life. Once you accept this from an adult's perspective you will no longer be frightened x
I have just discovered your videos and find them very helpful. We are planning a flight from Australia to Thailand soon and my wife has a fear of flying. We have exit seats for more leg room and she is worried the door may burst open during flight and she will be sucked out or some drunk or deranged person may try to open it mid-flight. Sadly there have been some reports of this happening in the news where people have tried to open the door mid-flight and have been tackled and restrained by other passengers.
Im terrified of ‘what might happen’ so am tense, then when theres turbulence i see all the plane crash movies in my mind & terrify myself, then feel glad i made it to land & dont wanna put myself in that position again. Other people have just taken it all in their stride lol
I am travelling 10 times by flight but still I am very scared of it means I just I have no control, i cant do anything nothing in my hand, when you travelling by car or train atleast you can flight for your survival but i case of flight you can't do anything. Please help me to overcome this fear.
Great video, I am not actually "scared" of flying, but i think about it a lot and i worry a lot. I do agree Airplanes are generally for the most part SAFE. and airplane crashes are very rare but isn't that what the people on the recent Lion air crash thought too? or the Air France 447 crash? In 2018 there have been numerous fatal crashes. What I mean is--All it takes is one wrong ill-fated flight. It is after all just mechanics and mistakes do happen. This wont stop me from flying tho because I love travelling around the world and there is no other way to do that besides flying. But I still worry :(
Hi Speakmans, I’m wanting to go on holiday next year and I suffer with extreme anxiety and ocd. I don’t have a fear of the plane crashing or anything like that, it’s just with panic I get severe physical symptoms and I’m scared of having a panic attack in a confined space where there are other people around and I can’t get off. I’m desperate for help as just the thought of getting on a plane makes me feel disgustingly sick. Any advice? Thanks.
Take a look at our fear of flying films, our causes of anxiety film and our film with tips to alleviate panic attacks here on our channel as they will all give you some useful tips. Hope they help xxx
my issue is a mix of two factors....a bad experience in a plane, big air pocket when i was 15...and the next time i flew at 35 I had a panic attack before take off due to the anticipation. So now i not only worry about the safety of the plane but also my own health
I will never set foot on a plane ever again...I wont even go on a plane on the ground at a museum...e.g. Concorde. I tried a fear of flying course and that just made things a whole lot worse. I now can't even go to the airport to drop off or pick up people. Just thinking about it whist typing is making me feel ill. My father lost some good friends in a plane crash, so anyone who says the chance of a plane crashing is very unlikely is a liar.
Thank you for your help
Our pleasure :)

I have a fear that the plane will crash and I’ll never see my dad again 😭
