I know this video is more about the chinos. But i've been watching a lot of style videos to try and change up my stale wardrobe, and so often loafers are recommended but I just cannot imagine myself wearing loafers ever. Gives me real estate/dad/grandpa vibes.

4:39 Those are chinos from a company called RGT, they make great jeans and jackets, on the pricier side but one of my all time favorite clothing companies, they make the supply jacket that was seen in No Time To Die worn by James Bond and also in Project Adam
I agree that chinos are far lighter and cooler than jeans during the warm months. In a warm climate, that makes them the preferred choice for almost the entire year.

Yeah, I get confused sometimes when she talks about black chinos. The waiter comment is more of a jab on black trousers, black vest/bowtie, and white button up shirts-a very specific combination. However, I do find black chinos a bit challenging when it comes to combining with footwear colors, not so much on tops. Navy blue chinos, I find, are more difficult to pair a top with though.

I own at least a dozen pair of chinos and wear them nearly every day. They are far more comfortable than jeans and since I work in a business casual environment and no longer need to wear a suit, I can either pair them with a oxford cloth button down or a polo shirt and a pair of loafers or camp mocs. On weekends, they work just as well with a t-shirt and my Stan Smiths.

Black chinos are useful to have. You can wear them to funerals with a black long sleeve sweater. It's a good alternative if you're not in a mood to suit up. You can also wear them with a different color blazer for a formal look.
I guess it depends on how many funerals you go to. I've never been to one.
Yes they do make you look like a valet, but that’s a refreshing change.
Black Chinos are not casual and look horrible it makes people look like a valet or waiter. I would never wear one.

I am the Chino expert. I’ve worn chinos since 1990, and back then the best were from Banana Republic. This was when BR was mostly safari wear, so the chinos were great quality with cuffed hems. After that JCrew became the go to. Always pair them with Converse Jack Purcells, until now. It’s a classic style that’s timeless. My recommendation today would be Wallace and Barnes Officer’s Chino from JCrew. They are perfect! Not high or low waisted with just a slight taper, and comes with button fly. For warmer weather the Todd Snyder Modern Chino. Drawstring with cuffed hems, and a good amount of taper to wear with sockless sneakers. BTW, white chinos are my favorite. I don’t know why you don’t like them. White is classy, nautical, and very dapper.

@@henrymorales6680 It’s tough to find a well made pair in that price range. I would check JCrew, and Ralph Lauren when it’s on sale.

Levi’s 502 sta prest pant is the original chino that Steve McQueen made famous. Good luck finding them. Also the Levi’s 508 line 6 is a Jean cut chino that copied the 502. Both are lightly tapered and come in a variety of colors. 502 and 508 make cords too. These are the only casual pants I buy and both are technically discontinued. If given a choice always opt for 508 ( more comfortable). Also the 502 make a denim which I recommend against but the 508 jeans are great.
I was surprised they weren’t re-released when Daniel Craig wore them in Quantum of Solace. An opportunity missed by Levi.
I'm 49 and I've just bought my first pair of chinos, so far I've been very impressed by the comfort. But I just can't bring myself to wear sockless loafers I think I'd feel like I was trying to dress like a young guy or a hipster 😅
loafers with no shows definitely give a hipster vibe, and loafers in general with like a dressy sock or something make me think elderly man. I think if you're dressing up your look with chinos some sort of boot is the way to go. I'm pretty fond of chukkas with mine.

Best chinos I wear are from L'estrange. They're not called chinos but they are great technical pants with a nice fit in the right places
My partner has a wedding to attend in September. It's an outdoor, uneven terrain, dressy casual wedding. Would he be able to wear chinos with a blazer of some sort? I really need help.

Do you have an opinion on Dockers Jean Cut Pants? The Dockers say they are made with All Seasons Tech fabric, which is a twill: 60% Cotton, 37% Sorbtek® 365 Polyester, 3% Elastane. The Dockers are only $58.

@mensfashioner PLEASE put out a video on how to wear a sports jacket casually and the different types of sports jackets. I've tried this with a black blazer and jeans and it just DOES NOT look right and there are no good videos that I've found explaining this, BUT I LOVE the look when it's done right. PLEASE HELP! Also, where can I find shorts above the knee? I hate this below the knee shorts look that is everywhere now and I can't seem to find any "90s shorts"? Even Ralph Lauren doesn't carry them.

Definitely wouldn't tight roll them, would make your bottom half look odd compared to the top. Try some options and post on the community for feedback, we're a very supportive bunch over there!
Hi, for shoes could it be paired with neutral trainer?
Something that I've always struggled with is being flat footed so finding a shoe that's stylish that doesn't mess your feet has been a struggle. Video recommendations?
Have you tried Ecco shoes? Or really look for shoes with removable soles so you can put custom orthotics in them. Something like the Adidas super stars would work here. Or the New Republic Kurt. Both affordable options with removable soles. For more premium options you can look to Greats Royale or Koio Capri. Greats are a little wider naturally and Koio comes with wide options. I know a lot of flat footed people also have wide feet so I bring it up. Thursday boots also have wide options especially for their captain model.
Those guys look like carrots in those chinos. The pants are sitting on their hip bones, then they drastically taper to the ankle. A higher waist, a pleat or 2, less to No taper, a pre-cuffed hem looks nice. I don’t get the hate for it.

In my country all waiters wear tan, khaki, beige chinos.... All hotel security guard wear chinos... All parking vale wear grey chinos.....and janitors wear green chinos... The only safe color is black 😁.....

I know this seems more directed to her but I honestly recommend the Amazon Essential chinos since they have both a regular and slim fit model and the inseam goes all the way down to 28 for the shorter guys up to 34 and the waist is 28-42 for like $25 or so

I agree with you on every other guy but I can’t find any fits or brands that work on my odd build that are not frumpy or to tight there is no in between 😵💫😵💫🍻🍻.

@@MayTheSchwartzBeWithYou yeah. I thought about it, but it kinda destroying look if you wear it over a polo or a bottom up short. It’s working only over a casual T-short in my opinion.
@@Mike-vt7si I was actually joking (poking fun at Ashley's love of white minimalist sneakers), but, honestly, the truth is that there is no option considered "stylish" for men, and that sucks. I think we need to break the stigmas against "man bags", because it's not fair that stuffing items into our pockets is the only "acceptable" option, and even then, it ruins the silhouette of our pants. Even cargo pants-something that allows us to carry everything comfortably without carrying around a bag deemed as feminine or dorky-are condemned mercilessly by folks such as Ashley. The only acceptable solution seems to be "carry less stuff", which is impractical (or at least, not ideal) for many situations. For instance, I rarely wear sunglasses because I want it to be in a secure location (i.e., a dedicated case) when I'm not using it-I don't just want it dangling from my pants pocket or shirt placket.
I had these issue myself, no matter how yiu try they will look bulky and feel heavy in your pants( especially chinos). So i purchased a small sports style bag( Under Armour) with a shoulder strap and problem solved! There are those one with a strap around the waist...but not for me thanks! Hope will help

Don’t know if my butt it so freaking flat, or if my lower back is a lot uglier and fatter than I imagine, but chinos (all pants really) constantly settle into a sag. It’s annoying. Belt or not, fit or not. Can’t explain it. I’m 5’8” and it’s kinda hard to find well fitting pants. A 30 length seems to always mean wider or heavier body type than mine.
