Appreciate all the hard work you put in. Looking forward to the performance chino/pant video. all the pants really suit you. Look custom. None of them look too flappy/wide at the bottom.
As a tall (6'3) guy with skinny legs I had always been hesitant buying 'slim fit' 'skinny fit' 'tapered' pants thinking it'd exacerbate the issue and making me look worse but it turns out it's paradoxically best to buy snug fitting pants since they give my legs some contour. Straight cut just makes me look boxy. It's good to see tall guys fashion examples out there, hence I'm digging your channel quite a bit!
Just bought my first Bonobos order on your recommendations (chinos and button down shirt) Really impressed on first impressions with the cut/fit and quality at that price. Very clean cut. In the right spot of looking nice for your form without being too slim as well as not being baggy in spots. Really happy with my purchase
Totally Asian lol! The cuts fit me horribly, lots of clothing stores are catering to the Chinese clientele specifically, I’m like 3 waist sizes up on uniqlo pants.
U og my man Ive seen tons of channels but boy u r different n stand out Ur contents reflect ur dedication time n effort Take ur time but release worthy content as always Salute!! Kavalier always!!
Awesome video and very informative. As a man who consistently pays the short-men tax, Uniqlo is a real winner for me. When they go on discount ($30, happen pretty often), they still shorten them for free (standard hem, +$5 for invisible hem). Sure, they aren't top quality but value-price ratio works for me!
Thank you for your work 👍 Thank you for informing me of Bonobos. Their Stretch Washed Chino 2.0, and the Tech Short Sleeve shirts are a win for me. The Bonobos Riviera short sleeve shirt is a step down. You have helped me to discover that dressing nicer does not need to be uncomfortable or painful.
I've been buying Banana Republic chino pants for work over the past few years, but I've consistently had issues with them. The fabric tends to tear within a few months, the stitching comes undone in high-stress areas, and the color changes after washing. I'm now on the lookout for some affordable, high-quality chino pants that can hold up better.
Thanks for recommending bonobos. I went to their guide shop on Michigan Avenue in downtown Chicago. These chinos look tailored OTR soooo good. My life has been changed! 😂 picked up 5 pairs of chino pants and 2 pair of their chino shorts. Thanks again.
This is brilliant. Thank you so much for providing such an informative study. I basically live my life in chinos (mostly Banana Republic), and I found this super helpful. I think the Asket looks the best overall, but those Bonobos really make your bum look amazing. Because you like a slimmer cut, we often see lines beneath; it would be helpful if you said which style of underwear you are wearing (you don’t have to show them although I’m sure it would up the view count.. lol) but it would help yo know if visible lines are underwear lines, pocket lines or shirttail as some of those may be eliminate based upon what we wear. Thank you, again. Fantastic job.
Interesting video. Please consider including Dockers next time, and emphasize the fit. Although Bonobos may be made well, their fit doesn't work for me, and I think when one is talking about the "best," one has to specify best for whom. BTW, when I see the outline of pockets on the outside of pants, I think the fit is too tight or the material too thin. Plus, I sense men moving away from slim pants toward tapered cuts that allow more room around the hips and thighs.
Really glad this video finally came out and that you finally tried something from Buck Mason. I personally am a big fan of Banana Republic’s Rapid Movement chinos (have 6 different colors).
Nice video; a lot of research! My favorite chinos are either by Brunello Cucinelli or Luigi Borrelli Napoli. The Cucinelli ones are impeccably designed and sewn. The Borrelli ones are all completely handsewn and feel incredible; plus there's nothing more beautiful or comfortable than hand stitching!
@@shellcrackerlover5889 For retail both are WAAAAY out of my price range, with Borrelli costing $400-500/pair and Cucinelli at $700+; but out you have time and patience, you can often get either on yoox for far less. Often even >$100! I'll tell you what, my first pair of Cucinelli chinos changed my perspective on what I thought to be overpriced. Then experiencing the handcrafted quality of the Borrelli chinos simply blew my mind. For me, now that this door has been opened, there's no going back, I'm afraid...
This is great! Really appreciate the honesty. For a future video (not sure if you've done this already), I would love to see a video on button down Oxford shirts.
Good thing u mentioned that you're 6'4". Very few among us are that tall. Clothes and pants certainly look a bit different when worn by much taller people.
Great video as always, ton of information but really easy to digest. I know these giant roundups (sneakers was good too) must be a lot of work, and putting the collection together isn't cheap either, but its a great format. Chinos have become my go-to, I wear them more than jeans now. I wear a suit for work and usually stick to full suits in the fall/winter, but for summer dress code chinos are my go too: cooler, more comfortable, and easier to clean especially when you sweat in them. I have a bunch from Uniqlo, I live in Japan so they are right around the corner, go on sale a lot, and always have free alterations in store (which is key for me because I wear ~29in length which is tough to find).
Haven't you had a pair of everlane chinos? I know I've seen an everlane review from you for cashmere sweaters but I thought you did one for everlane too.
Hi, amazing work. I have following your channel for a long time and a big fan of your work as you have taught me so much about different brands. Just wondering how you feel about Dockers, Old Navy and Lands End?
Great video very informative. I agree that bonobos and banana republic are the best I give the upper hand to banana republic rapid movement chinos because they are more comfortable they seem to have more stretch then bonobos.
How about for a guy like me? I plan on getting khakis and chinos. I'm 5'11 & 125 lbs. And I really like the khakis at 2:41. The color and fitting will be perfect.
Thank you for the video. My go to brands are banana and gap. I live in chinos more so than jeans. Classic plain front in slim fit for me. Will order Bonobos based on your review
Hey, great review! Which chinos did you find have high enough waist to wear with a shirt tucked in properly? I find that many of the chinos you can find today have a rather low waist making it look quite awkward to tuck in a shirt with.
Great video! I have that exact pair of well worn Bonobos washed chinos. Are you planning a "Dress Pants" version, too? On occasion chinos are just a little too informal.
Thanks, Sneakk! Very good point, however he's done other comparison videos on chinos, too. The video your referencing was specifically on men's wool dress pants and was not nearly so all-encompassing as this one. I suppose it sort of applies if you're broadly defining Chinos as any non-wool, non-jean pants that can be dressed up. However, there seems to be a lot of middle ground and brands untapped.
That's what pisses me off about a lot of modern fit pants. I want a damn taper without feeling like my pants are gonna slip off or my shirt is going to come untucked.

Good review, thanks! I am here in 2024 becuase Brooks Brothers discontinued their Lightweight Milano (slim) Chinos. Curious as to why you did not include Brooks Brothers.

Huge help thanks so much. I’m curious as to what you suggest for men with skinny legs. The ASOS skinny chinos for example are baggy on me. Definitely interested in checking out the Bonobos ones but don’t want to spend that much to find out they aren’t slim enough. Any thoughts?
How about a overshirt/chore jacket buying guide please? Do you think that the Chore Jacket + Chinos + OCBD + brown leather minimal sneakers is the best smart casual style for the office nowadays?

just got 3 pairs of the J crew 484 that you talked about but the "tech pant" version. costed $14 for each. How did you get the pant to be so slim at the ankle? It's absolutely criminal that this guy doesn't have 100k subscribers.
you read my mind with this video, I've been wanting advice on these for a while. Love the channel, keep it up!
These Jomers are no chinos. They are called 5-pocket pants, well in Europe that is. They have jeans-style front pockets.
I noticed that, too and have seen other pants called the same at home in the US.
Yes, they’re essentially non denim jeans.
Agree with that, is the same here in the US.
Very helpful. I bought chinos at Men's Warehouse. One wash and one wear and I can tell they're not going to last long.
Wow sr I most say your videos are very good and specific. Love it ! Thanks! Buying my chinos now with confidence.
