Cesar Lopez Go with the New republic leather or canvas white sneakers. The canvas are around $50 and he leathers are &89. A different more expensive option is the common project Achilles.
@@teamslayer23 The ones I'm wearing in the video are the Oliver Cabell Low 1s. I've also heard good things from Greats and Koio in a similar price range.
This is super helpful but it’s worth mentioning that the taper and the size of the leg opening make a big difference when it comes to length. I’ve had pants (that came intentionally very long) hemmed to the point that the leg hole got noticeably bigger and it looked nothing like what I thought it would when finished.
Ive been watching for about a week now and literally only just realised you only have 100k subs. I honestly had it in my head that you were at like 1.5m. I cannot wait for this channel and the budget to blow tf up because in a week alone you've elevated my dress game SO much
1 point to note. Always do a first wash before hemming your pants, especially denims as they have elastin mixture. Coz if you hem them before washing they’ll become shorter than you ideally want them.
The more elastane, the less this is actually an issue. The component that ACTUALLY shrinks is cotton, particularly is if jeans weren't pretreated, prewashed, or (as raw enthusiasts will tell you) pre-set. Cotton is notorious for shrinkage, which is why most fabric comes prewashed or pretreated. Hanging items to dry would prevent most shrinkage, as 90% of what I've seen comes from washing, followed by immediately throwing it into the dryer.
With more experience over the years, I've come to see it as a more helpful, smarter and safer to just approach the slight break to all types of your pants. This is a good video, an important and timeless fashion/grooming topic.

Thanks for the info Tim! This is a question I have always had when looking for new pants, which makes it hard for me to decide what pair to buy or not. As a shorter guy as well, it is good to get your feedback on this matter! Keep up the great work!

My opinion of pant length is that it is decided from the whole outfit. Actually for some outfits a big bulge around the ankle ties it all together, while another outfit calls for pants end a couple of inches above the ankle. The shoes is more important in the question than the type of pant if u ask me. If wearing any kind of boot-like footwear my opinion is that the pant should end above it… no break at all… not even touching the boot. But if u instead wear a sneaker or sport type shoe and maybe some cargo-like pants a very extreme break can elevate the entire thing… But it is always different for every case
Give it a try some time! Sometimes you think you can't pull off a certain piece of clothing but you'd be surprised how often something you're not used to can look great on you 🙂
I don't agree with everything you say but atleast you give an answer. many other channels end with "there is not right answer, do what you like." people can do that but the reason for watching the video is to see what the standard is so that we can decide to abide by or break it lol. i don’t know why other channels don't get that.
My problem is that 32" length jeans are too short, and 34" are way too long. I'm over 6'2, I just have a long torso and short legs. I wish more manufacturers made 33" leg jeans. 😔

the vid I was looking for, but from a time where trends were absolutely different. Would wish for a current version of this video and topic! Especially as (as someone else mentioned 2 years ago) length depens on width of leg opening and cut. And as many cuts (straight, relaxed, loose, baggy, slim) are in fashion right now, there is more confusion according to length than ever! I think a clarifying video would be a hit!
i use to buy 31/32 jeans and id often wash them to shrink down. now i just buy 31/30 since they don't make ( 31/31 ) i wash cold and hang dry. perfect fit everytime.
Good video, the only problem with me is that I’m short and most manufactures or brands don’t make short chino pants or jeans. I’m lucky if I find levis with a length of 29 or 30. Jeans it’s not worth it taking them to a tailor unless you take them to a expensive tailor and spend lots of $$$.
In my opinion the best for jeans are slightly to full break if they are slim fit (and you can roll up till the ankle) or full break if they are loose fit. I think the full break is a more street style and also you could roll it to a slight break and would look amazing too like the slim slight break
This is such a helpful guide! I’m just starting to wear “men’s” clothing and tailoring my pants myself since I’m 5’2”. Coming from “women’s” clothing I had never heard of a break.
This is super subjective, but the full break will look and feel best for most, especially when sitting, and is more suitable for nearly any type of shoe. When pants are too short, they look dorky and will lift up too high when your knees bend. You can't say something is wrong just because you don't personally feel like it's right. Same vice versa. I personally think the extra length looks and feels much better regardless of the type of pants to be frank. This seems to be the general consensus for most guys that don't wear tight pants. 😅 Why a man would want to show off his ankles is beyond me lol. You do you.
Thx for video. I want tailored my jeans for no break (im short side). But yes the half break give so much more flexibility. Especially that with different shoe i can adjust easly proper lengt.

Hey Ervin! I'm also 5'7'', and when it comes to joggers I would recommend finding a brand that makes sizes that fit your height. I've managed to find some well-fitting ones off-the-rack from Zara and Uniqlo in the past. But yes it is possible to shorten or taper joggers, a good tailor will do it without issue.
Hey Tim! I found you on TikTok and your stuff has helped me figure out how to actually dress well! I hope you make a budget friendly series for those who want to be stylish under $100 perhaps?
Jeans look ace stacked (and ok with boots) with trainers but not with shoes. I have ones from 30 to 36 depending on what wearing with. I’m 6.2. No strict rules for jeans unlike trousers.
Nice info man. I also believe the length of the pants in an outfit and the kinds of shoes you wear needs to be right on point. For example, I personally like to wear boots (midcut) and cargos with a full break in them, that's just me. Also, the half break jeans with the white sneaks look really dope. Will try. ✌️
With skinny jeans/pants, I like them to be my exact inseam (from barefoot on the floor up to my crotch). That ends up with the pants stopping exactly where I like no matter what shoes I wear. If the pants tuck into boots, it’s not too much material. If I wear the pants over boots, it’s just enough material. For every other normal style of pants, I like two inches longer than my inseam. When I wear wide leg pants, I like the pants to come just a few millimeters above the ground while I’m wearing the shoes I intend to rock. No idea how long that might be as sometimes I wear platform heels/booties and sometimes I wear ballet flats. I never knew guys looked at pant inseams based on the dent on their pants. I guess that makes sense as too many dents would mean you’re wading in pantage :-) Nice video!
The term “proper” in fashion just creates separation and elitism. I like my jeans stacked you like a half break but as long as we both feel as though we look good that’s all that matters.

0:01 I like the very first look. Even though you say that's not how it should be it literally looks better than everything else. Full break for the win
Hello. Can u please tell me your opinion on this: I have bought white,. very fine, smooth jeans pants (Hacket London) and shortened them on the size of no brake like u have showed on your chinos. I am not sure is that good now. Looks a bit short. Wanted it like this so the shoes (loafers or other classy shoes) can be seen. Wear it with the Suit jacket also or just with the shirt or T-shirt. Cheers
How about doing an ultimate guide to dressing up or dressing down formal wears next? My clothes lean towards the formal side but I want to wear them in casual occasions as well. I’m making you my online fashion consultant already. Hahaha. Keep up the stupendous work, as always ☺️
When you get your jeans shortened, do you get them to keep the original hem or make a new one? If you get them to make a new hem, can they make it look original or does that depend on the skill of the tailor?
A super late response… but for those wondering… your tailor should be able to do a ‘Euro’ hem, where the pant leg is shortened but the original hem is retained. My tailor offers two different Euro hems. One where the original fabric is folded up (on the inside) and visible if you were to roll up your pant leg… and the other where the result isn’t noticeable.
This is a Great video, 90% of my pants are way to long and I didn't know how much should I cut them since I'm a short guy Man I should've found this video sooner

This channel is a gold mine!
Thanks Jay! Glad you're enjoying the content!
0:01 I like the very first look. Even though you say that's not how it should be it literally looks better than everything else. Full break for the win
That trouser Seems to the most perfect and its looks so nice on you.any suggestion that how can i tailor the same look alike trouser??
Could this advice also be applied to women's pants?

Its hard finding pants under 30 length that is also not under 30 waist. What do u suggest ?
Video of the year
Perfect timing for me to view this video because of school's dress code in college. Again tim, thanks this helped a lot!
Glad to hear the video was helpful! Have a great weekend 😊
Cheers
I wear a 34 length , I can pull off a 32 length but I feel like they are flooding on me but it’s different among different races
It's better to feel good than to look good. Just saying 💕💕💕
100%!
Been waiting for this vid. Thanks for listening, Tim! 👍🏻
I got you! 👌😊
How about doing an ultimate guide to dressing up or dressing down formal wears next? My clothes lean towards the formal side but I want to wear them in casual occasions as well. I’m making you my online fashion consultant already. Hahaha. Keep up the stupendous work, as always ☺️
I’m a older guy with long legs and a long stride and I don’t like too much sock or ankle showing when I walk so I think the full break is best for me.
Definitely go for a full break in that case 🙂
Tim Dessaint I like all of your men’s clothes videos and style guides so keep up the good work.
Thank you for the guide. What about linen trouser ?
Hi Tim, is this applicable for larger men? Please make a video for larger / rounded men
Thank you, I have searched for this for so long !!
My pleasure! Glad you found it 🙂
So here I am watching for the nth time now I'm making some notes. Thank you so much Tim! Where can send some questions to you?
When you get your jeans shortened, do you get them to keep the original hem or make a new one? If you get them to make a new hem, can they make it look original or does that depend on the skill of the tailor?
A super late response… but for those wondering… your tailor should be able to do a ‘Euro’ hem, where the pant leg is shortened but the original hem is retained. My tailor offers two different Euro hems. One where the original fabric is folded up (on the inside) and visible if you were to roll up your pant leg… and the other where the result isn’t noticeable.
This is a Great video, 90% of my pants are way to long and I didn't know how much should I cut them since I'm a short guy
Man I should've found this video sooner
