1 point to note. Always do a first wash before hemming your pants, especially denims as they have elastin mixture. Coz if you hem them before washing they’ll become shorter than you ideally want them.
The more elastane, the less this is actually an issue. The component that ACTUALLY shrinks is cotton, particularly is if jeans weren't pretreated, prewashed, or (as raw enthusiasts will tell you) pre-set. Cotton is notorious for shrinkage, which is why most fabric comes prewashed or pretreated. Hanging items to dry would prevent most shrinkage, as 90% of what I've seen comes from washing, followed by immediately throwing it into the dryer.

In my opinion the best for jeans are slightly to full break if they are slim fit (and you can roll up till the ankle) or full break if they are loose fit. I think the full break is a more street style and also you could roll it to a slight break and would look amazing too like the slim slight break
Nice video, but me being an older guy I can’t wear my pants too short showing too much ankle like younger guys because it looks ridiculous so I prefer a full break.

for majority of my life i thought this 0:02 was cool until i saw the jean section of the video that blow my mind. i have a birthmark on my ankle and i never want to show it so i thought i have to show them to look good nowadays but now this changes everything.
My opinion of pant length is that it is decided from the whole outfit. Actually for some outfits a big bulge around the ankle ties it all together, while another outfit calls for pants end a couple of inches above the ankle. The shoes is more important in the question than the type of pant if u ask me. If wearing any kind of boot-like footwear my opinion is that the pant should end above it… no break at all… not even touching the boot. But if u instead wear a sneaker or sport type shoe and maybe some cargo-like pants a very extreme break can elevate the entire thing… But it is always different for every case
Thx for video. I want tailored my jeans for no break (im short side). But yes the half break give so much more flexibility. Especially that with different shoe i can adjust easly proper lengt.

Nice info man. I also believe the length of the pants in an outfit and the kinds of shoes you wear needs to be right on point. For example, I personally like to wear boots (midcut) and cargos with a full break in them, that's just me. Also, the half break jeans with the white sneaks look really dope. Will try. ✌️
This is super subjective, but the full break will look and feel best for most, especially when sitting, and is more suitable for nearly any type of shoe. When pants are too short, they look dorky and will lift up too high when your knees bend. You can't say something is wrong just because you don't personally feel like it's right. Same vice versa. I personally think the extra length looks and feels much better regardless of the type of pants to be frank. Hello. Can u please tell me your opinion on this: I have bought white,. very fine, smooth jeans pants (Hacket London) and shortened them on the size of no brake like u have showed on your chinos. I am not sure is that good now. Looks a bit short. Wanted it like this so the shoes (loafers or other classy shoes) can be seen. Wear it with the Suit jacket also or just with the shirt or T-shirt. Cheers
Good video, the only problem with me is that I’m short and most manufactures or brands don’t make short chino pants or jeans. I’m lucky if I find levis with a length of 29 or 30. Jeans it’s not worth it taking them to a tailor unless you take them to a expensive tailor and spend lots of $$$.

When you get your jeans shortened, do you get them to keep the original hem or make a new one? If you get them to make a new hem, can they make it look original or does that depend on the skill of the tailor?
A super late response… but for those wondering… your tailor should be able to do a ‘Euro’ hem, where the pant leg is shortened but the original hem is retained. My tailor offers two different Euro hems. One where the original fabric is folded up (on the inside) and visible if you were to roll up your pant leg… and the other where the result isn’t noticeable.

@@TimDessaint Yes please, your videos are so calming and relaxing. Thank you for the respond, warm hug from Indonesia🇮🇩
Hey Tim! I found you on TikTok and your stuff has helped me figure out how to actually dress well! I hope you make a budget friendly series for those who want to be stylish under $100 perhaps?
Nahh it depends on the person and the style of each man
Quick question, what’s the brand from your white shoes? They look so simple, yet amazing.
Oliver Cabell - Low 1
Amazing video
Would you make a video talking about wearing boots and the right length?
Pants are always going down to my feet because i’m only 5’5 and it’s sucks. What am I supposed to do Tim?
Cheers
This channel is a gold mine!
Thanks Jay! Glad you're enjoying the content!
Good video, the only problem with me is that I’m short and most manufactures or brands don’t make short chino pants or jeans. I’m lucky if I find levis with a length of 29 or 30. Jeans it’s not worth it taking them to a tailor unless you take them to a expensive tailor and spend lots of $$$.
hey tim, i discovered your channel about 1-2 months ago and i love the simplicity of the stuff you show. i have been wondering all this time though: you are born and raised in france, correct? your english is completely fluent and you don't have an accent at all. why is that?
Hello! Glad to hear you've been enjoying the content! Welcome to the channel 😊 I was indeed born in France, but not raised there. I grew up moving around countries a lot as a kid (basically moved every 3 years), and one of the countries I lived in at a young age was Canada (Toronto), which is where my English comes from.
@@TimDessaint dude, i can't believe i missed your reply from a year ago! really sorry about that! i don't know why i never got notified. i just randomly revisited this video today and noticed your response. anyway, thanks for the reply. that must have been quite the experience to move around so much. my parents are also from different backgrounds, so i feel we're in the same boat. d'ailleurs, j'aimerais enormement voire une video ou tu parles le francais aussi!;)
Tim, back at it again!
Thank you, I have searched for this for so long !!
My pleasure! Glad you found it 🙂
I love this channel so much
I really needed this thank you so much tim!!🥺💖
Been waiting for this vid. Thanks for listening, Tim! 👍🏻
I got you! 👌😊
How about doing an ultimate guide to dressing up or dressing down formal wears next? My clothes lean towards the formal side but I want to wear them in casual occasions as well. I’m making you my online fashion consultant already. Hahaha. Keep up the stupendous work, as always ☺️
Congratulations in advance for your 100k subscribers milestone
Thank you Anil!
Thanks, man for making video on this most common problem, with solutions, it's so easy and very noticeable thing , ( PEACE ✌️)!!!
Glad to hear it was helpful man! Have an awesome day 🙂
@@TimDessaint Same to you (Bro) and Thanks 👍👍👍👍
I'm a woman, but I absolutely LOVE watching your videos :)
Thank you very much! Glad you enjoy the videos 😊
I like to get oversized jeans and cuff them, I've been doing it for a while now
School started already mah bro bro. Hopefully u can hook us up with a back to school wardrobe (hopefully something which is unique-ish, with your twist)
I plan on doing a back to school video soon!
What do you do when you have to switch between high top//low top shoes and even boots?
Depends on the outfit but I'll either leave the pants uncured or cuff them.
Can u make a video for some men that have a big thigh and also short?what fit should they have
What should I do if my slim fit jeans get looser over time?
Wash em under medium wash
