I was born & raised in Fort Wayne and the Embassy Theatre has always had it's very special place in my heart, nevertheless I've been living in Florida for the past 40 years. But back in 1980 I was one of the many-many volunteers who teamed up to help save the Embassy Theatre and its restoration to its original glory for her Grand Re-opening. So glad to see that the Embassy AND the Grand Page 4/15 is still in full glory.

As a young kid, I used to walk from our home on Knitters Avenue (now Growth Avenue) to the Embassy to see Saturday afternoon matinee movies. I absolutely loved that place. One day my mother took me there to see a concert played entirely on that pipe organ. I was enthralled! In recent years, I have been to a number of concerts there by modern artists. I am so thankful to the folks who preserved and restored this beautiful palace of the arts.

I live in Fort Wayne and have only been to the Embassy once or twice, and neither time did I hear the organ.

Mark, I'm also from Fort Wayne and as a kid in high school we would go to the Embassy theater to watch the then current crop of "A" grade movies and often before or in between films Buddy Nolan would put on a 10- 15 minute Pipe organ concert. At the holidays he would do an entire concert after the last movie of the night. Have you ever played the Grand Page here in the Los Angeles area?... The twin organ to the Fort Wayne Page is here on Catalina at the Wrigley family built "Casino"

Mark, I’ve been in love with Theatre Pipe Organs ever since I played the then Regent Theatre Wurlitzer 3 manual 18 rank organ as a 15 year old in 1963. I was the last person to play it as the following day it was dismantled having been sold interstate to a pipe organ enthusiast.
I moved to electronic organ but that love of Theatre pipe organs and their unique sound, has remained below the surface to this very day.
Since then I’ve heard a number of organists on the theatre pipe organs, some good, some great but in my opinion, none who have really mastered the real capabilities of these majestic instruments, quite like YOU have.
Your accuracy is unbelievable and your mastery of the countermelody and little chromatic runs throughout give your playing a magic that is very pleasing.
If you’re ever coming to Australia ( Brisbane, Qld) please look me up and I’ll get you onto a few local theatre organs here that I know of (and have played).
I’ve subscribed to your channel and hope to hear a lot more of you. Well done!

Love these performances. I too fell in love with the theatre organ. Our drama class had come to tour the Ohio Theatre and Dennis James was organist. Part of the tour included a demonstration of the newly restored Morton theatre organ. Being too shy to ask to play it, a friend spoke up and asked if I could play something. We had just started rehearsing "Annie Get Your Gun" so the first thing that popped into my head was "No Business Like Show Business". Now every time I see or hear a beautiful instrument like this, that's what I remember. Thanks again for sharing these moments with us!

What a wonderful talented organist you are. I really enjoyed this concert. And the song Jarvis really struck a note with me as I had an Airedale Terrier, Daisy (RIP) and the tune really was perfect as to the antics of Airedales!

What a wonderful experience! When I was a kid, I used to listen to an old LP my mother had of George Wright playing on the Mighty Wurlitzer Organ. I wore the grooves out of that record and absolutely loved it. Your playing takes me back to that wonderful time of my childhood. Thank you so much. I really enjoy your performances!

Phenomenal sounds. This is the first Page recording I've heard. I kept it playing despite minor sync issue which had little bearing on the audio.

Mark Herman, "The Wizard of Wurlitzer"

Buddy Cole built an organ in the garage of his house in North Hollywood. It was an 18-rank Wurlitzer rescued from the United Artists Theater in Los Angeles. He made an album for Warner Bros. (WS-1533). It has long been out of production but you can listen and download it from the Jazz-on-Line website at the following address:
    www.jazz-on-line.com/pageinterrogation.php?keymatrix=&keylabel=Warner+Bros&keyartist=Buddy+Cole&keyword=&keyyear=&keycatNumber=&B1=Submit
Mr. Cole passed on in 1965 while having just finished the organ arrangement for the marriage scene from The Sound of Music. I wonder what became of the organ.

I too love the music of the Twenties. But how can you explain why SO many organists on other TH-cam channels feel compelled to do arrangements for organs or Orchestrions of Freddie Mercury's "Bohemian Rhapsody"?? I don't get it.

Hello, Does anyone else have sync issues? Still nice to listen though .... Maybe reupload with sync issues fixed if it has?

    • @John_van_Kleef
      @John_van_Kleef 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Yes, the audio and video are NOT in sync. I have downloaded the video, re-sync'ed the audio & video en exported as a new movie file. Unfortunately it is too large to share via Wetransfer and the likes. But you can do it yourself if you have a video editing program. Just lock the movie track in your editor and advance the audio track by 14:08 (14 seconds and 8th-hundreds of a second) forward of the start of the video track. Should be perfectly sync if you then render the movie back to MP4, AVI or MPEG.

Sorry about that! I found the issue and fixed it. I tried to shorten the intro using TH-cams editor, but although it worked properly in the editor, it mucked up the version here, so I simply clicked the option to "revert back to original." Thanks for catching it!

    • @markhermanmusic

It's the "Embassy Theme," written in the early 1950s by Buddly Nolan who was the longtime house organist at the Embassy.

Video and audio are badly out of sync. You can easily fix this yourself if you have a video editing program. All you need to do is lock the video track and then advance the audio track to the right by 14:08 (14 seconds and 8-hundredth of a second). All should be tight then for the whole film. Export your project to MP4, AVI or MPEG and you're fine!
