    Mark, I enjoy your theatre organ performances immensely, not only for your playing, but also for the polished presentation. Now to discover this aspect of your skill, not only your technical ability but your innate musicianship, displayed on your superb Mason & Hamelyn, is well, a new bowl of delights (but not Turkish). So many younger people dismiss the eras that not only produced the great music you play, but also fail to see that Musicianship has almost disappeared. OK, I enjoy producing music with modern technology, with AI etc, but non of this musical world can even start to match ability such as yours. To listen to this concert is an unparalleled treasure, yet another reminder from you just what real light music is (I can get this only from my Reproducing piano, but the repertoire of light music from that past period was small). Thank you Mark

    Brilliant ! And what a tremendous good memory you have... I 'm a musician too and I know you've been working very hard, practising a lot to get this high level of playing and great musicale culture. A gift is nothing if there is no work behind it. Knowing chords, modulations, good tehnic, swing and dynamic... well done Mark (From France)

    Mark, I watch you all the time playing theatre organ, but I've never heard you play piano before. You are exceptional in every respect. I so admire you, being able to memorize and play with such finesse! Makes me feel like my 70 years of playing have been unfruitful. I've been a church pianist and organist for nearly 65 years, but still have to have music in front of me! ☹️😥😊

      You and me both! If what he played was written out, I could sightread it almost flawlessly. But play by ear? Improvise? NAH! I'm in my 70s any still have a chuch organ/piano job.

    Absolutely astounding talent. Your technique is fantastic, your understanding of harmonic alternatives is as good as it gets and it's all brought together on a simply beautiful piano. I'm a Bosendorfer fan and would never have thought a grand that size could get close to it's depth - what a find! I may be wrong but I feel I can hear a Peterson influence in your playing - oh, and you made me curse a few times ..... chromatic tenths is just showing off (especially in quick stride)🤣. Thanks for sharing this.

    Just discovered you tonight. Thanks - brilliant! You play in the styles I once did except, perhaps, Church. It's your freedom of expression that feels so companionable. Thanks and all best wishes for years of sharing your love of music.

    Beautiful sounding M&H. So much more depth and color than the Bosie 225 that was in my home. Much happier with the 1919 Conover 88 I had rebuilt. It was made alongside your 1915 AA in the same factory, very similar sound. Wonderful playing!

    Loving the Piano concert too I wonder If you have sought out or contacted 1st congregational church I hear they have a tremendous Organ maybe out of the ordinary but certainly worth a try. there are so many home organ installations it would be hard to document much less play all of them.

    • @bobgoodwin2832
      @bobgoodwin2832 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You may be speaking of 1st Congregational in Los Angeles. This church has two large pipe organs in the sanctuary. A Skinner up front and Schlicker in the back. They can be played separately or together from the same console - making one of the largest church organs in the US. These organs are a horse of a very different color requiring an entirely different playing technique from Mark's usual theatre organ genre. Though I'll betcha he could manage a fine rendition of a few ditties.
