👋 Are these colors just trend colors that will only be good for a couple years or are they considered colors for stable for 5, 10 yrs. I need stable colors that are t just a trendy fly by color. Im not sure what you really call it other than classic but I'm not sure that is what I am wanting. Help!!

Any just about anything neutral is considered to be timeless. From off-white to dark chocolate brown/black. It starts to become a trend, when brighter colors are used like red, blue green, yellows...etc. it's best to leave those colors off the furniture and use them for home decor instead since that's interchangeable.

@@aunt_b3365 I’ve been doing tons of research on it and it looks like this style is here to stay for quite a while. There’s a huge need for refinishing furniture without having to do the labor of stripping the furniture. This is just my opinion off of the research I’ve done. Hope this was helpful.

FYI- The piece is a _dresser,_ not a chest❣
A dresser is short and long, with multiple columns of drawers, whereas a _chest_ (chest of drawers, precisely) is tall with just _one_ column of drawers. I just learned the difference

Good comment. The trim at the bottom of the dresser is not designed to be weight bearing. It is likely that the trim will come loose and separate from the case if this piece is actually put to use as a dresser.

I thought the same, but she responded to another comment and said she would have had to rebuild the entire base, as the legs wouldn’t be able to support the dresser-and at that point the profit margin would knew too low. I’d love to see what it would look like without as well though, but she makes perfect sense!

Ours has solid wood tops on the dresser, chest of drawers and both night stands. We love it and would never think of changing it, honestly I don’t like the current styles….but to each their own. Love it! What a transformation! One suggestion might be that when you use the wood grain tool, to make nice long strokes with no knots, like higher quality wooden furniture (like mid century walnut) opposed to knotty pine (like Ikea). I seriously love this transformation though. Beautiful and keeping SO much furniture out of the dump this way! 🙌🙌

I used this technique on my staircase banister, which started out as white-painted 2x4's. I beefed up the wood by adding 1x4's to the top, stained and wood-grained everything. For a few dollars I ended up with what now looks like a rich walnut banister.

You did a great job with the graining tools. I have used them before. You made it look much easier than it was for me the first time 😅
I use Rustoleum's "Smoked" Glaze or the "Aged" Glaze (its gold) on top of any chalk or
latex base color. I have also used them together blended. It has to sit for about 30 minutes and start getting tacky then you can work it and re work it for about 30 more minutes. No top coat required.

You can also start by tuning into a good bible teaching church online. Our church is Calvary Chapel Chino Hills with Pastor Jack Hibbs. We have service times on Sundays 8 am, 10:30 am and 1 pm. All I did was scuff sand this one. Took me maybe 10-12 min to do a thorough job. Not that bad!

Nicely done and thankfully not white. I agree about removing the skirting at the bottom, which is an older style. 😊 Nice refresh.

Loving your hair and the makeover was fantastic as always. I used retique it to refinish a particle board headboard of mine several months ago and love it. It was just as easy as any faux wood finish and looks way more realistic.

Wow I'm so jealous! Since my daughter's father passed I've been a single Mom he was great at painting and making things look great, and with me not having enough money to buy nice things I wish so much I had this talent to make them.
This really turned out beautiful! ❤️

I bet you could do it too! Just find a small piece maybe a bedside table and try painting it and embellishing it or whatever you wanna do! don’t sell yourself short you should try it. I bet you would do great! 😊 👍❤️

Great job LL. That dresser might be partially plastic, but it still is well made. Bravo for saving it. I keep those plastic jars from protein drink powder and they make excellent wide mouth jars for saving paint, since the humidity and salt air is so bad here. I had been hoping that you would try those graining tools, they are really amazing. If the grain looks too coarse, then I will drag a dry big house painting brush through it very lightly. That top coat went on so easily and no drips. Great call to add the legs, but I would have backed them in about an inch, minor detail. 😍

So interesting to see that you used that primer.. I would have tossed it since it looked like the can had rusted and degraded into the paint. But by mixing and filtering, it looks like it worked just fine! So glad I watched this! 😊

Amazing transformation!! I love your choice of cabinet colors and hardware finish and the faux wood grain. the only thing I'd do differently is the pull that's installed vertically in the middle cabinet. Looks out of place and 🎉clashes. I would opt for 2 knobs instead or even no hardware at all in the middle cabinet as it has it's own design and doesn't need a modern hardware on top.

While I've never been fond of faux woodgrain, this looks more realistic than anything I've seen so far! Nice work, my dear -- I'll give that grain kit a try for my next flip using your technique and suggestions. I may need to change my mind thanks to your creativity!

What an improvement. Thanks for showing all of the steps. You sure work hard, so you deserve whatever profit you make. You are among the few furniture flippers who make an effort to consider current and projected furniture trends in deciding how to proceed. I appreciate that. One thing that would make the “after” shots at the end even better is to really linger on the big picture at some point. I had a tough time getting a sense of how well the legs worked out. Thanks!

I love it. Even if you didn’t do the woodgrain on the top and had just painted it a similar color to give contrast to the front it still would’ve been stunning just the coat of paint in that beautiful color and the updated hardware was enough of a transformation for a simple taste person like myself, but you really took it beyond that.🎉

I own this piece and had it restored to its original finish. It's beautiful and gets lots of attention. As I watched your video, my heart was sinking as you erased time and history of this piece. However, the transformation is stunning. I especially like your treatment of the top with the false grain. The new hardware really brings it up to a high end furniture that it originally was. Just wonderful and inspiring. The new color actually showcases the the original architecture of the drawers beautifully. Nice.

This is my parent's dresser but they had it in the living room. My brother took it when my mom died and had it redone as you did. That was 28 years ago. It looks great, back in his living room as a TV table.

Older painters/cabinet makers have used these ''rockers'' for decades. In older times pine was used extensively and the craftsman would use stains and rockers to achieve the effect of a much more expensive timber. There is a book in the British Library it's a19th century tradesmans book on various finishes and techniques.
