      Loved everything...except the stencil drawers. It would have looked so much better. Had you paint washed the drawers before stenciling ... Or just left the stenciling out completely. Otherwise, good job!

    I hate most furniture transformations as they just "re-paint" in some hideous grey colors and replace hardware and think it's worth $$$.. I LOVE that you were able to strip and restore the wood to its original beauty. The light, natural wood grains are beautiful. Wow, the understated template pattern roll over the drawers could have destroyed it all--but it looks amazing. I can still see the natural grain. It really elevated this very simple chest of drawers. Very nice.

    Love how this one turned out! There's no way the plywood on the sides would have stained well, so great decision to move forward with paint. Loved seeing you use the carbide scraper. Awesome job with this one!!! You do great work!

    I have that very dresser. Found it in a barn of property we bought in 1984. Still in the same condition I found it. It may be time for an update.
    I’ve always liked the nicks and dings and scratches. It has been in my living room since I found it. Half the veneer gone and third drawer won’t open. Never has. I’m retired now and all the kids and grands are gone.
    It’s her turn.

      @@LemonstoLemonadeFurniture had a fire on Sunday. Lost my shop. My dresser was in there. I had just started. Life is weird. Grass fire that spread. Just the barn and 4 old semis that have been parked. When the grass fire hit my oil drums and fuel tanks, it was over! (Truck yard).

    I suggest using a dryish brush to dab paint on the stencil areas..keeps paint from running under edges of the design. Also it is good to use 3 colors (dark, medium,light) for the design...gives depth and interest that keeps the eye moving instead of just an unlively flatish look.

  • @LisaKessler-o1q

    I was not crazy about the color you chose and I didn't like the knobs you chose but it did come together better than I thought. I may have chosen a different color and different knobs but I do like the stencil on the drawers and I think I will be doing that on an old dresser I use in my main bathroom. It was a lot of work but I was impressed with how you handled it.

    This is by far my FAVORITE piece you have ever done. This is just the look I love. I don’t even know if I commented the first time I saw it but it is worthy of a second. I WILL be doing something like this in my own home. I don’t flip I just watch and learn. I’m so thankful for you, you stay right with your flipping theme. So many channels get bigger and bigger and then go away from the roots of what brings us to you. I’m all for growing but this is what me personally love to watch most of all. I don’t stay engaged when I watch what goes into stores or more about merchandise rather then flipping. So CONGRATULATIONS to you. Have a wonderful weekend

  • @sarahjane1965
    @sarahjane1965 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I'm a newbie at flipping...so quick question. Why didn't you just sand first rather then use the stripper and the scraper? Thanks!! Love your channel❤❤

    • @leannemitchem8865
      @leannemitchem8865 ปีที่แล้ว

      I am wondering that myself

    • @cferguson3368
      @cferguson3368 ปีที่แล้ว

      Some possible reasons to use stripper: When you sand, the paint and sawdust are released into air. Sawdust on it's own is enough without adding the paint. Not all paint will scrape off easily. If the paint is tightly adhered to wood, you may cause more damage to the wood by scraping than you will using stripper. The same goes for sanding. Some paints (usually oil-based) have hardened over time in addition to tightly adhering to the wood. In this case, removing by sanding is time consuming while requiring a lot of sanding supplies. Many times folks don't put a base (shellac is a common base) between wood & paint/primer. In these cases, the paint gets embedded into the grain. Paint embedded in the grain is a pain to get out. A stripper is often helpful in removing paint from grain. Some folks also just prefer to use stripper.

    Stunning!!!! I had a cabinet that had drawers on one side and a door on the other that had been natural wood, pale yellow, blue, hunter green then brown! Lol When I tried to strip it, everything came off down to the blue. That blue refused to come off. I tried a heat gun and finally wound up using a scraper. It had plywood panels exactly like your piece, and I ended up painting those and doing a wash over the rest, it was a nightmare and took forever, but it’s absolutely beautiful now.

I didn’t think the knobs were going to look good, but you know what, I absolutely love this piece!! It’s so soft and beautiful!!😅 I did wonder why you didn’t just sand the blue off to begin with, but I don’t know much about furniture flipping, hopefully I’ll learn more! But great job!🏆🎗️⭐️🎉👏🏼🥇

    I think this piece brought out your creativity! It may have taken more time and energy, but it is my favorite of all the flips you've done! It's the one I'd actually enjoy in my own home. I don't enjoy pieces that look like they came from a furniture store. It's well loved antiques with great patina or painted with charm for me ( and also the market I live in - Mid Atlantic region). Since this is your business and not a hobby, I get that you have to pivot and generate alternatives when executing plan A is no longer a wise decision. What rule says plan B or even C isn't even better! I think this project proves that point. This project also proves function can also be beautiful! Kudos for giving this old piece a new life.

    It’s just beautiful. Can I ask you how to redo stained oiled furniture. I have several antiques and they are all stained. I’ve used dark oil to keep them supple. If I wanted to paint them, wouldn’t I need to get the oil off the wood? How would I go about prepping for paint so the oil doesn’t bleed thru? Is it a bad thing to paint would furniture these days? I do love the painted look instead of the oak and walnut stain

    Have you ever considered have a soda blaster around for those spots you can’t get with scraping and sanding? I think you have an air compressor so a small soda blaster would only be like $35. If you have a powerful enough compressor they work like a charm.

    The dresser turned out great. Love the stencil. I love the grain of oak but not the orangey color. You nailed it.

    Even though I liked the blue, I really thought your end result was perfect. Nice job for sticking with it, and I appreciate the new idea.

    can you share how your paint / diy space is set up? I use plastic tarps and the painted items always stick to it. I feel like i do more sanding when this happens, then anything else. Should I be using canvas tarps??

      I really just keep it all confined to this one wall space. I will elevate the pieces off the floor (usually with paint cans) and I'll staple a tarp or sheeting to the back wall but that's it!
