YES! Thank you for finally listening to some Tekken Tunes! Please make a comparison of Azazels Tekken 6 theme compared to his story mode theme in Tekken 8. You’ll appreciate the Opera choir that showcases his story and history!
Oh man, if your loving Tekken music I'm begging you to listen to Heat Haze Shadow 1 and 2 from Tekken 7, the song Last Stand (into to Tekken 8) is actually an upbeat remix of Heat Haze to represent Jin's will to survive while Heat Haze represents Kazuya's determination to kill his father Heihachi
keep im mind that as a fighting game playa, you gonna listen to ingame tracks (depends if a game has a jukebox but still kinda applicable) hundreds of times, so they gotta be tailor made to keep you engaged even after 500 hours+ i think tekken really does it well in that department, i encourage you to check every title since t3 (t1-2 has bangers too ofcourse but it really skyrocketed with t3), its an endless gift glad you like it
Just for the reference, since im EDM music producer, I've played on Ultra Europe and similar festivals, Into the Stratosphere is psy-trance genre, basically a sub genre of EDM, i'm sure you already know that, but yeah psy-trance seems to hits everyone in the face, it's one of the most energic EDM sub genres and is huge part of almost every EDM festival, since you enjoy it you might listen to VINI VICI, Armin Van Buuren (not his main genre but has some slapper psy-trance tracks), Astrix, Mandragora, Hilight Tribe etc., Love your videos, huge fan of your channel !
On top of the T8 music being sick, they added back the jukebox feature, letting us listen to ALL THE BEST TRACKS FROM THE LAST 3 DECADES OF TEKKEN MUSIC... INSANE
It's always fire when final boss music and intro music are either the same or extremely similar, really gives the 'This is the end of the story' feeling
I had the exact same thing, I think its programmed in the game where if you do an electric, kazuya does one back and the slow mo effect kicks in - just so happened to be at the perfect time
I love how tamashi is used in the story as Ling Xiaoyu defends Jin Kazama, it's just perfect in that moment, it has this mixture of positivity which is easily associated with her, but it also has this air of determination, determination which she has developed over the course of various games. At the start of everything, she was just a highschool girl who had a crush on this cute, brooding but gentle guy, and then he got involved in all of this crazy stuff and she was left behind, as anyone would, but she eventually found this resolve to figure out what happened to him, to stand by his side through all of this weird stuff, and most importantly: to protect him and help him when he was most vulnerable. I think the song fits the spirit of that idea perfectly, it's Ling Xiaoyu's determination, a wonderful musical and narrative highlight to a character who has never been center stage in the story of Tekken games. I loved this game, especially its music, and I agree, this music is to be celebrated.
Tamashii is mostly a callback to Landscape under the Ghost-Kaminano, Tekken 2's staff roll theme which is supposed to be sung by a mourning Jun after what happened to Kazuya (they even got Ryoko Shiraishi back for the vocals). Given that the stage was Jun and Jin's old home it also has that connection and makes the sparring match between Jin and Xiao in the story very cute (and as you said, the 2nd round for Xiao vs Jacks is also perfect for her)
The part where Jin's Tekken 3 theme started playing as he switched to the Kazama Style after years got me so hard man. Tekken 8's story mode has no reason to go this goddamn hard
Tekken NEVER misses in the OST department Marco. It doesn't matter which Tekken it is. Id love to see your reaction to Tekken 2 music in particular. Pure atmosphere. For Tekken 8s ost in particular I think yakushima(Juns theme) is probably one of my favorites in addition to into the stratosphere 2nd. Really great
Would you believe if I told you that G-Corp Helipad Night is what got me into Tekken in general and made me fall in love in most of Tekken soundtracks?
Tekken 8 has become my favorite FG soundtrack ever. Its just too good in so many ways with banger after banger. I listen to it every time I work out now or just casually almost daily.
Climax version of Baroque Attack satisfies my inner, unhinged desire to jump onto the opera stage, in the middle of the performance and start breakdancing.
Fun fact: at 11:02 in the video, the little flute sound used as the beat drops is a direct sample from the song "Angkor Wat" from the very first Tekken!
Tekken's OSTs are a veritable who's who of Namco Composers. Fun factoid, Harada (Tekken's director) has said that he has the final okay in each piece of music used in the games. As far as my favorite Tekken track, I'm gonna have to go outside the parameters and say Tekken Tag Tournament's Staff Roll is my favorite track in the franchise. It's also wild to know Keichi Okabe composed that piece, and sounds like a prototype NieR piece released in 2000.
Never thought you would cover Tekken! This is one of my favorite series ever and Tekken 8 blew me away with everything, including music (and the jukebox option). Awesome vid
Well if Marco is listening to Tekken music, can't wait to see what else he will take on Perhaps Azazels Sealed chamber and Devil Kasumi. They are both badass themes
What an awesome analysis Marco! I hope you cover Infinite Azure from Tekken 7. That track is such a banger! Also highly suggest you check out Tekken 5 and Tekken 6 OST. Some insane stuff there!
Didn't know Go Shiina also composed for the game. I Really liked his music in Code Vein, God Eater 3 and Ace Combat. As always, nice video. I really love how you always managed to make me realise why some tracks seems to "hit" so hard.
Go Shiina has composed for the Tekken series since T5:DR and has been a regular ever since. His first song was "Snow Castle". He also composed "G" and "Alisa" for T6, "Snow Castle -Mundus Arrange-" for TTT2, "Duomo Di Sirio" for T7 and now "Coliseum" for T8.
is there any place I can check for sure he composed that theme? I did think it was him since I heard his iconic sounds (God eaters players knew what I'm talking about)@@mgbenz
11:59 I absolutely love Victor's theme. I'm not into the whole EDM but hearing this plus that sax solo at the climax is just *chef's kiss*. An absolutely satisfying listen.
Thought I remember seeing a comment somewhere where someone mentioned that Twilight Cruise used a specific EDM sound (I can't remember what specifically) that was popularized by French EDM. The composer(s) really did their homework.
Man I've been playing Tekken since I was four years old, I really enjoy not just the soundtrack but allthe marketing and the quality of the product, it does feel like they really cared with this one. Really loved that you reacted to this and I am glad you enjoyed so much. My personal favourite is an ost that happens at the final chapter that brings back some memories, without spoilers I think you'll know which one it is. XD
This one dropped FAST IM GLAD! The variety was so awesome to hear in the game - Im not too excited on some tracks but I seriously cannot deny how amazing they are regardless
I love so many tracks, but I adore Storm Rising. Mostly because I’m a sucker for sampling and, if you know or realize Rio Hamamoto was sampling for the lyrics (Dirty Little Animals by Bones UK, which is just as much a banger in its own right), you realize how much work went into twisting and splicing all the samples into something almost 100% new. Some of the best use of sampling I’ve heard in ages. Of course, immediately second is Twilight Party Cruise. That track needs zero introduction, mifumei went in so hard.
glad to see a video on tekken now! you've been one of my if not THE most favorite youtuber ever since i've watched your video on tahm kench's theme so this really warms my heart :D keep up the great work and take care :)
Hey Marco! Super excited to see you experience Tekken 8 and it's masterfully composed soundtrack. I am autistic, and also quite Alexithymic which means I have trouble identifying/feeling emotions that I experience, and what you do on this channel is correctly label and describe the emotions in a song which really helps someone like me. You doing what you do actually amplifies and affirms the emotions I feel about the music, I feel this sense of joy and excitement watching you emote with your body and face to the music, it's so great! So thank you for doing what you do, you don't even know how much you have an impact on someone watching your content. ❤
I never thought id see the day marco reacts to tekken soundtrack. But then again, im getting crazy looking for a reaction video from anyone but so far ive only seen 2 vids. Its not just that the the soundtracks are so good. But its like they were made to be placed on the perfect scenario Thats beyond just "making the soundtrack hype"
The opening of T8 reminded me of those days of me playing T3 through T5 in my old PS2 and then to my cousin's PSP and I went like "yeah, this pumps you up" and it is so.. idk giving you a lot of reminder that games like these can become your little joys after busy days
I just wish that the Tekken 8 tracks released on Spotify sounded less compressed. I understand that everything has to be a uniform volume for a video game (in which music is just ONE aspect of the auditory experience) but man would some of these tracks sound AMAZING unmastered.
As a man who considered the Tekken 2 and Tekken 3 soundtracks to be the best, the final chapter of the story mode was just pure joy, both gameplay and musically. Hearing Jin's T3 theme while using his Mishima style moveset for the first time in decades was already epic. Those guitar riffs never get old. But when Jin transitions to the Kazama style and the familiar vocal of the T2 end credits theme began, next level goosebumps.
The emotional piano version of the main menu theme when Jin turns the tides in the final battle is so different to most Tekken music but hits the feels.
storm rising is my favourite one. it just gets me soooo pumped up every time. i also love that they've added the ability to change which tekken soundtrack you want to from previous tekken games. it's been amazing to hear how tekken has remained on top of their game when it comes to their soundtracks
The thing about Storm Rising is that I love when the “chorus” kicks in, but as for the rest of the track I’m mostly uninterested and just waiting for the part I like again. And I’m talking about 1st, Climax doesn’t really appeal to me at all
Tekken is my number 1 fighting game since i was a kid and the bigest reason why i love fighting games so much. So it means a lot to me that you maked a video about Tekken 8 music. And you described every music from it so good. Thank you for the video Marco!
After much deliberation, I think Neo City is an early favorite of mine. Both the Normal and Climax versions represent my two favorite edm genres (Hardstyle and Drum And Bass respectively) and the central synth melody is pure ear candy in the Normal version.
Tekken has never missed a beat when it came to it's OSTs over it's lifetime. My favorite songs are still from Tekken Tag 2, "Plucking Tulips" and "Tekstep Fountain*". Both EDM songs, and both so amazing, imo.
I grew up playing a ton of Tekken with my Brother - loved this overview. Been playing Tekken 8 so much since it came out and i looooove the OST so much. Keep it up Marco!
I was already very tempted to jump into Tekken 8, but yesterday I discovered the Jukebox feature with the best music from every Tekken games and that was an immediate buy, it's exactly what I wished SF6 playlist feature could have been It's fantastic
Tekken 8 has a jukebox mode, where you can replace the soundtrack for literally every piece of menu and stage in the game for a classic song from all the previous Tekken installments. I simply can't replace a single piece of music from this game no matter how much a love some tracks like Moonlit Wilderness and Heat haze Shadow. This is just how amazing Tekken 8 ost is for me. Tamashii and Storm Rising are PERFECTION!
I knew this soundtrack was something special when I heard the climax version of the song Volcanic Bomb. I don't play the game but a streamer I enjoy was in a final match against a very good player, and the stage that the music plays (a meteor literally hurtling towards Earth) starts to break apart and crack from the heat of re-entry, and the visuals, the music, the close fight... it all culminated into such an immersive experience that the streamer didn't say a word because he was so engrossed. And so was I. To me, that tune rivals Heat Haze Shadow as one of the best tunes to come out of this series. It's incredible.
I LOVE the Tekken 8 soundtrack so much!!!! Twilight Party Cruise Climax is my favorite. It's ironic because I'm a trumpet player, but the saxophone in the Climax one is just AMAZING
One thing that is worth mentioning for twilight party is the french touch house music inspiration to it. Which fits since the theme is supposed to depict the Paris Stage of the game. As a french person i find it very fitting of Paris in 90s 2000s.
The thing that really can't be understated about how good the music is in this game is that it's not just the quality of the music itself but how it's implemented into the story mode. Like, of course having a good OST by itself is great but the way they use music cues as part of the story telling is so fucking good. Say what you will about the story itself, but the music and also t he gameplay itself were used so well in showing story progression and also character development and a lot of the best moments were when they weaved in old music, not because those songs are necessarily better but because they always were used in a meaningful way. The fact that they could play the Tekken 3 Jin theme and people just out of reflex would try the old T3 moves and have it work and it not just be a weird gimmick or nostalgia bait but actually an important part of Jin's character arc and story is just amazing. And the Tekken 2 end theme when he shifts into Kazama style to reference his mother. And of course My Last Stand in the final stretch of the fight. Just so good.
Ya the way the music is connected in the fighting moments is truly astounding - it’s a cinematic and deeply like profound somehow experience. My favorite is still the end of chapter 13 with the choir when he becomes his angel form and that whole battle. The final sequence was so damn cool from an action and music perspective.
Please do a video on the soundtrack of Killer Instinct (2013) since it has, in my opinion, the best soundtrack when it comes to fighting games. The soundtrack Street Fighter 6 and Tekken 8 is good, but Killer Instinct is just on another level.
I absolutely love orchestral stuff, vocals etc(Nier is one of my all time favorites), but when it comes to Tekken..... I need it to lead with edm or rock, otherwise it doesn't feel nearly as badass or fitting. I'm beating ass with electric uppercuts, not blessing my sword and shield with the rune of minion's bane(brass, strings and choir will never sound like "fist-fighting" music to me). Volcanic Bomb is interesting cause it is the perfect balance imo. HEAVY synth beat, choir in the back. I prefer the climax version though, it's up there with tracks like Abyss of Time and Electric Fountain(Karma).
We are so in agreement. I vibed with you hard during Twilight Boat cruise(might be the best tekken track ever), Tamashii & Baroque attack climax specifically. Dont forget Decisive Blow & Silently Boisterous tho!!! 🔥🔥🔥
Music in Tekken has always been a big part of the experience for the game. For me, Tekken can be appreciated even just for it's music, but it can also be a cool fighting game to play, even if you're bad at it. Heck, I was a kid when I played Tekken 3 and 5, and I was a "cheeser" and a "masher" XD. I didn't know how to do combos or anything like that, but I loved those games so much, as well as their soundtrack. It's so cool to see T8 getting a lot of recognition right now, and it's as beginner friendly as ever! You don't even need to be a ranked player to appreciate the game itself. It's just as the good old Tekken games. It has a pretty good amount of content that you don't need to worry about getting bored of doing the same thing over and over again, like in T7, which imo was pretty focused on ranked and pvp, having pretty little cool stuff to do aside of that. I would also recommend listening to some of the bangers of past games if you haven't, honestly. There are A LOT of good music in Tekken. Not just BGM, but actual music.
Since this game came out, I keep thinking about how My Last Stand will inevitably be played at EVO before Top 8 and I'm gonna cry like a fucking baby dude. Holy shit.
8:27 that rhythm/sound is used a lot of psytrance so if you like into the strat 1st you may like some psytrance tracks (personal favourite is 'Astrix - Deep Jungle Walk' 4:40 especially!). The tekken ost from all the games is so unique and it's heavy inspiration with EDM especially from Tag2 onwards is really special.
bro we have the same tastes lol colosseum is my favorite as well especially the climax one and i also love the others you mentioned as well like elegant palace, golden meadow climax etc..
Just to clarify: I know there are plenty of good fighting game soundtracks but Tekken's may be my absolute favorite.
Ace combat and metal gear revengeance sounds, dmc 5 production, and smashbros pace. Tekken is peak gaming music.
YES! Thank you for finally listening to some Tekken Tunes! Please make a comparison of Azazels Tekken 6 theme compared to his story mode theme in Tekken 8. You’ll appreciate the Opera choir that showcases his story and history!

Tekken has been raising the bar for fighting game soundtracks for almost 30 years with every tekken game since tekken 2!
Even Tekken 1 still has some bangers! But you're right, Tekken 2's OST is better since it includes T1 music as well lol
I would even argue that Tekken 1 already had really good music

but yesterday I discovered the Jukebox feature with the best music from every Tekken games and that was an immediate buy, it's exactly what I wished SF6 playlist feature could have been
It's fantastic
Tekken 8 has a jukebox mode, where you can replace the soundtrack for literally every piece of menu and stage in the game for a classic song from all the previous Tekken installments. I simply can't replace a single piece of music from this game no matter how much a love some tracks like Moonlit Wilderness and Heat haze Shadow. This is just how amazing Tekken 8 ost is for me. Tamashii and Storm Rising are PERFECTION!
I HIGHLY recommend you reviewing the older Tekken games OST. Tekken 3, 4 and 5 have one of the best OSTs in any game ive ever heard.
Last Stand, Into the Stratosphere are my fav
12:02 I'm new to tekken also this shit BLEW ME AWAY
what a crossover. im a huge tekken and league fan and now you drop this...awesome
Tekken OST has always been such a banger. Tekken 8 including the jukebox customization with past game musics is the cherry on top
My absolute favorite track from T8 is definitely Storm Rising - Regular. It goes so hard I love it
I knew this soundtrack was something special when I heard the climax version of the song Volcanic Bomb.
The mix of organic and inorganic is what really stands out to me like you mentioned
Out of all of the bgm i think my favorite is Tamashi, from the Yakushima stage.
Tamashi was beautiful in story mode
tekken music is so underrated yet banger af, hidden gems
I'm so happy that Tekken as a franchise, was blessed with incredible music.
Marco covering Tekken was not on my 2024 Bingo
Tekken Tag 2 Schoolyard song is still my go to for the mood of a fighting game. ALWAYS.
Moonlight Wilderness and Abyss of Time always my "Opening" theme every morning
Abyss of Time is awesome
Fallen destiny, the song on the map is soo good it actually boosts my performance
Please do a video on the soundtrack of Killer Instinct (2013) since it has, in my opinion, the best soundtrack when it comes to fighting games.
The soundtrack Street Fighter 6 and Tekken 8 is good, but Killer Instinct is just on another level.
Tekkens OST has always been one of the best for fighting games.
LET'S GOOO! This is some good ass Tekken (content).
Sf has some nice melodies, but Tekken is another level of complete and quality OST to boost game to stratosphere
14:54 immediately fell in love with it when i first heard it in online match
This calls for a Tekken soundtrack retrospective for Tekken 4 to 6, the golden age of Tekken music
THAT'S WHY COLOSSEUM OF FATE SOUNDED SO FAMILIAR. Those horns are totally Go Shiina's trademark
Tekken music is unrivaled in fighting games
Tekken music is the best gym music. I recommend you check some of the Tekken 3, Tag 2 and Tekken 5. Some of the best bangers of the franchise.
Victor's Theme is the greatest song in Fighting video game history
15:00 it has some Drum and Bass elements to it so.... Baroque and Bass? lol
I swear, Bandai Namco has been cooking games with killer tracks over the last six years or so, Tekken, Ace Combat, Armored Core and so on.
We are so in agreement. I vibed with you hard during Twilight Boat cruise(might be the best tekken track ever), Tamashii & Baroque attack climax specifically. Dont forget Decisive Blow & Silently Boisterous tho!!! 🔥🔥🔥
you didn't include sanctum?! ;_;
Does this mean I'll finally get that Devil Kazumi theme reaction I've been wanting for months??
Into the Stratosphere aka the song at 9:00 Is SUCH A BANGER!!!
Not just BGM, but actual music.
would love to see you react to themes from command and conquer of generals. I think that whole OST was milestone in gaming.
Since this game came out, I keep thinking about how My Last Stand will inevitably be played at EVO before Top 8 and I'm gonna cry like a fucking baby dude. Holy shit.
My favourite one is by far Pave Your Way but the soundtrack in general is insane tbh
FYI the singer of tamashii is Ryoko Shiraishi she work with many games
The climax of twilight cruise is actually WILD
13:43 Have you listened to that last bit with the Saxophone ? It drops haaaarrrddd❤😅
I like the final battle . Where the music and fight tells a story.
Wish you reacted to Tekken 4's soundtrack, the atmosphere that game has is insane.
the great thing that you might like is that tekken 8 has jukebox which has all the OST from the first Tekken to Tekken 8
The music of the Soulcalibur series is fantastic. *cough cough*
bro we have the same tastes lol colosseum is my favorite as well especially the climax one and i also love the others you mentioned as well like elegant palace, golden meadow climax etc..
Colosseum has to be my favourite OST.
It's wild how in both Street Fighter 6 and Tekken 8 the Paris stage has the biggest bangers
Nah,into the stratosphere is the most banger ost in tekken 8
