    As a petrus main, *Petrus is NOT garbage at all!* Petrus has the lowest movecount out of the "big 4", so if you struggle with TPS, it can definitely be a good method (roux has M-flicks, which not everybody is good at.) Yes blockbuilding is kinda un-ergonomic, but considering you never need more than 15 moves for 2x2x3, it makes up for it. Try it. The only problem is lack of resources.

    • @RowanFortier
      @RowanFortier  2 ปีที่แล้ว +18

      Hey thanks for watching :)
      The argument "roux has M-flicks, which not everybody is good at" is not a valid argument. You could say that CFOP has M-flicks during EPLL (U-perms, H-perm, Z-perm), which not everybody is good at. The solution to that is to simply learn M-flicks. You could say: CFOP has F2L, which not everybody is good at. It doesn't mean anything because cubers are constantly learning new things.
      Blockbuilding is unergonomic in every method that uses it, so that cancels out as a factor when comparing blockbuilding methods. I see your point with 15 moves for a 2x2x3 block (which solves 7 pieces, excluding centers), but Roux F2B solves 10 pieces excluding centers in about the same amount of moves. That being said, there are definitely some improvements for petrus, like Athefre's APB algset. It's an alright method, I use it sometimes when I see an easy 2x2x2 block. Maybe not garbage, but still pretty low in my opinion.

    I just thought of a method but I don’t know if it already exists. I need someone to tell me if it does. First, build a layer-1 edge(like in waterman) then, intuitively make the opposite layer -1 edge (still like waterman). Put those layers on the left and right. Then, do an alg that solves both remaining edges on those two layers. You should be left with just the m-slice. Do an alg to orient the m-slice. Finally, solve the m-slice.

    I don't think Petrus should've been ranked as garbage. it's definitely memed on but it has a lot of the same advantages ZZ has but starts with block building instead of EO. also: the block building can be fairly similar to roux at some points.

    I agree but I feel like cfop should be put a bit higher it has a lot of resources and recognition with it's algorithms and tricks. And you can do it rotation less with certain F2l tricks. And it has a lot of expansions including Summer Variation, COLL and a lot more. It's also what has been setting all the 3x3 WRs.
