also, since the rubic cube is "random", the color patterns actually really help when the color patterns are already located in good spots. Placements of color blocking from a rubik's cube is different for each player. so if color placement is already good then it can really help in those micro seconds.
As a reminder or if you don't know, official times are only counted with a precision of .01 even though stack mats go up to .001 (and it's truncated not rounded)

Yes it helps but it takes a HUGE amount of skill to know how to solve it from inspection and actually carry it out.
