- In this video I transform a 20 year old catamaran skiff and build it into a flat deck , forward console work or fishing skiff with a purpose! Most of the pieces and parts are repurposed from past skiff and boat build. What do you think of this catamaran skiff boat build?
Boat details:
12.5' length
5.5' beam
10" draft
Powered by 2001 9.9 hp Yamaha 4 stroke
9" pitch prop
Performance :
14 mph cruise
16 mph top speed
25 mpg fuel efficiency

I don't how I missed this one - but this is the ultimate center console boat!
If your job is cruising comfortably, you built the right boat. Im rebuilding a 16'V.👍
I love the use of Carbon Fibre and light weight Materials. No use building something small and nimble and weighing it down. Excellent.
Would love to see a poling platform out back and a casting deck. Great channel!
Super cool. They used to make little "water scooters" similar to this back in the 60s. Seems like the best combo of a skiff, SUP and Jetski all in one. Cheers.
Thanks Karl! I'm going to have to do some searching, sounds cool! Cheers!
Nice skiff , what s hull is this?
@@DANIELRODRIGUEZ-ke4yz thanks Daniel! It started as a 14’ Livingston built on the West coast .

Another cool Forrest creation! Keep ‘em comin.
Nino my man! Thank you buddy! So glad you dig it, you’ve gotta come take it for a spin!
LFG! just tell me when! I’m in Jensen almost everyday now lol
I need something like that, very useful little boat

Haha, right on buddy! That’s music to my ears! I say do it! Connect with us on FB so you can share the process! Cheers!
Sweet little rig! Always enjoy your creativity with the builds.
Thank you Mark, stoked you enjoy the builds and like the Mariner build, it’s a fun little ride for sure! Cheers!
So glad you’re back! My absolute favorite builder channel on TH-cam!
Haha, man I appreciate that Caleb! Big cheers to you for hanging with me and I hope you enjoy some upcoming vids! Cheers!
I love the way you set this up
Your videos got short. Build videos are so much better and more informative than the rest of your content
Thank you for sharing your skills knowledge and experience
Building my first skiff right now, which just so happens to be inspired by your videos. Love the channel and can't wait to see you grow it!
Thank you so much Kyle for taking the time to write this. This is music to my ears and EXACTLY why I do these, to help nudge and inspire others to get crazy and build their own projects! Big cheers to you buddy! Would love to see what you build!
@@diywaterworld will definitely email you some pictures when done!!

Great idea, what fun and beautiful little boat 👏👏👏
Love this skiff, super cool!!
Thanks so much Sam! Glad you like it and Appreciate the comment!!
a 22 FT version of this with twin 70HP would be badass
Detachable Cooler/casting platform up front. Detachable tri-pod polling platform front leg to rear side of drybox. Keep it lite and versatile.
Oooh lala, I’m digging it!!! great idea Howie! Thank you for the comment and creativity! 💪🏼
Looks finished to me, cheers!
Haha. Right on dude! I like the way you think ! Cheers
hell yeah nice rig
Love it love it love it! 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍. Awesome boat well done.
Hahaha. Thank you Nigel for the kind words as always! So glad you like the build! Cheers mate!
How would I finish it? I wouldn’t. That’s a great boat “as is”. Great flats fishing boat.
Good one.
Little beast
Sick build! I have a 14ft Livingston cat out here in Southern California that I put a little half cab on built by Off The Hook boatworks. Little catamarans are super fun and efficient!
Got any pics? 👀
@@superweeniehutjr560 I keep trying to post links but can't!
Love what you do, I want build my own dyi sciff
thank you! And heck yes, I think you should definitely build a skiff! Have you checked out our Facebook group? "diy waterworld". It will be a great place to help guide you once you begin your build!
rubber hose, slit length wise, cap the top edge . simple and cheap ,best wishes .
Just my two cents if finish off with a 1”-3” flat deck overhang, and I’d take that console off, put me a armed cushion seat or square box make a tiller fit motor or simple stick steering beside chair and that would open up the whole deck and plenty of room. I would it out that box and make a box, 12”-16” tall across the front for all storage and now got a fishing platform storage box and open deck call it quits
And love the repurpose of stuff the really being green
Yeah buddy, There’s just too much good “junk” out there to let it go to waste! Let’s put it to use!
Probably my favorite you have done. If I can sell me skiff, I'm wanting to hunt down a similar little cat for a restoration ;) Cool stuff Forest!
Love ur stuff keeping stuff out junkyard and just having fun u should have more followers already
Thanks so much for the encouragement, glad you’re enjoying the channel! Cheers!
let me know if it is for sale , amazing boat , should be patented and commercialized .
Very NICE!!!!!!
Thank you fir the comment !!! So glad you like it! 🙏🏼
That’s dope
Awesome. Love it
Thank you Earl! Glad you dig it and appreciate the comment!
great stuff.
Glad you like it and thanks for the comment! 👊🏼
Yesss I’ve been waiting for this
Haha, awesome dude! You know what I’m thinking for upcoming vid?! Pottcake Update!! 💪🏼👊🏼
I agree!
great channel
It's very beautiful, it looks like it's a very light setup. My question is do you still have it?
Id glass a flat deck with coosa board . Kinda like a “texas scooter” style boat with some hatches built into the floor with drain lips to water seal them.
Ahhhh, a deck boat! I’ve heavily considered it Justin and I DO love the feeling / functionality of a flat open deck ! Thank you!
I love this awesome. I am looking for one or similar. 👍
What boat brand is that
In the thumbnail that it was bigger but love the smaallness
Yeah. It’s deceiving. Even in person. But it’s got quite a bit of deck space/ room for a small boat.
What type of material were the side walls of the storage platform? You mentioned "composite boards"
Super cool build!
Great content! Gotcha self another subscriber.
Thank you so much Dan! I’m stoked you enjoy the content and thankful for your sub! cheers!
I have a Livingston LV10' and I LOVE your level deck. Did you do that yourself or did your boat come that way? Is it stable if you put a lot of weight on the sides? I either will build a center console with a seat, or a right hand drive console with a seat.
Not for me but it is what it is. A lot of good things and not so good things but a very nice reconstruction of old material!
I luv this, and any way you do it will be interesting to me. Have you ever thought of putting a davit crane on your work boat?
Hi Dan, thanks so much! Great idea with the crane! 🧐😎 It would be the ultimate work skiff! Cheers and thanks for sharing!
Looks like a livingston to me. I would have used the side spaces under to the floor for storage compartments and built a seat in front of the wheel instead so the gas tank / battery could have went under the seat.
can you review the hull..
Hi Nizam , great recommendation/ thank you and heck yes I can! I’ll get one done in the next month or so, Keep an eye out! Cheers
Terbaik kaka
Are the cats full of foam? Do you have any storage inside. Maybe you could make some handy bins.
Cant believe I missed this video until now... while stuck on a conference call....that's a dream boat for a Mountan man like me....I'd run my Yamaha 15 4 stroke with a rear casting platform and counter weight cooler on the front and hit the shelf on a good day...and slay reds on the icw the others #DreamBoat. Who's the manufacturer? I love the old twin V twin engin mini ocean cats too.
Hi Micah! HAHA, i love it! I actually did run this with a 15hp motor and it was PERFECT, still lightweight but a bit more power! A casting platform would be pretty sick indeed, i'm digging the idea/layout ! Thanks for sharing! The manufacturer is Livingston . Produced over in Washington so you don't really see them on the East coast much. But they are around if you are patient! Cheers and good luck in the search if you decide to build one!

and where to get the building plans for this annd at what cost?
I want to know how you built that boat.
👌
What is the telescoping pole you mentioned?
Love this 12.5 cat. Anyone know what was used for the donor boat?
That’s what I wanna know
What did this hull start out as?
It started as a 14’ Livingston , made over on the West Coast, in Washington. Cheers
Did you build the hull from scratch or did you follow a previous build? I've been interested in building a similar boat.
Hi Tyler, thanks for asking. this boat started out as a 14’ Livingston hull. I cut the sides down and built the flat deck on it. There’s quite a following for this boat and they’re super popular on the west coast of the US as well as Hawaii. There’s some cool info on the web regarding them and some cool builds. Enjoy and heck yes on starting a build! Do it! Cheers!
Why did you cut off the sides?
I have a 14ft Twin Vee, which i suspect is the same hull. But with the multiple added decks, seat, and console it's a pig. I have 4 stroke 60 on it.
What is the length and widht in meters?(This mini boat)
😎😎
I absolutely LOVE your creativeness. I would like to hire you to build a custom casting deck on the front of my Twin Vee 170 Baycat. I emailed you several times last year. I haven't heard back from you yet.
Ryan thank you so much for the compliments snd for reaching out. Hmmm, how can I get a hold of you? Shoot me a text…. Not sure if this will work but here it goes…. 786 too zewo fivve 9 sevin zeero 6 haha

A few dementia San a brand name you started with would be nice. How much dose it weighs
Hi David. It started as a Livingston 14’ made in Washington state. Probably weighs around 600lbs. Just a guess :)
DIY WATERWORLD that’s what I thought just seemed long …I live in AZ and we see a few old 10 footers . But I’ve gone e sailing many times in the north west and I’ve seen old ones up there . Makes a great work boat did not think many where in Florida . Thanks
Do you sell your projects? or keep them
How much would you take for it?
do you sell any of these boats?? im in the south fl region
Im curious as well im in central fl
Hi Bryce and Paul, it depends, some i sell, some I send to the bahamas to help hurricane affected fishers, and once in a while I keep one 😎 Let’s build you guys each one! Come be a part of the process and we’ll make a video of it! Cheers!

Hi Ty. I’d consider it. 👍🏼

@@diywaterworld boats awsome wish I had it
Your homemade foil on the outboard does NOT give you a "couple miles an hour". That's BS.
People notice the console first because it looks dumb as hell
I see you have no problem being honest. Haha. Cheers.
Enclosing the battery and fuel tank would clean it up. Sick build though.
Did you use plans to build this or it a hull from a different boat?
