  • Stop Taking GT7 (PSVR2) and Sim Racing so Seriously! In this video I discuss the importance of not taking sim racing so seriously for games like GT7, iRacing and other popular sim racing games you might play. We all know the stress level sim racing can cause, even though it's just a game. It can cause people to reach out and maybe not have the nicest things to say. In this sport of sim racing, we all make mistakes at every level so make sure you remember that before the next time you might go at someone. In this video, the gameplay is of GT7 at Brands Hatch in GT4 cars and of course racing in PSVR2.

    Great advice. I also think to many people takes GT7 way to seriously, I get it’s a Sim but at the end of the day it’s just a game DR goes up DR goes down. If your playing this game thinking you need to get to DR A+ your setting yourself up to be aggravated, enjoy the race enjoy the competition but understand nobody here is a professional mistakes will happen. Great video CAS

    New to your channel. I'm 65 about to turn 66 years old. Bonified ManChild.
    Owned a GT sim rig a few years back and sold it. G29 steering wheel and pedals....just seemed toy like. Plus my rating sucked on GT6....
    This was on a PS4....my PS5 justed arrived. ACER 28" gaming monitor is on the way. Regarding sim racing I want to try again and spend little more money this time.
    Fanatica appears to be in transition in midst of problems.
    Going with the Thrustmaster GT2 and that new EVO 32 wheel. Tlcm pedals. I want a sparco shifter but can't find one for sale.
    After I get everything dialed in buying a PSVR2....your videos convinced me.
    What sim rig do you have? Thanks for your video...............................I will keep you posted on my progress....whoa hoa !!!!

      Awesome. I'm sure you're going to have a great time! I don't even use a full rig. I just have a wheel and pedal stand with a T-GT II, open wheel and T-LCM pedal set. I was going to get a rig that folded up as I need to move my setup when I use it but just haven't purchased anything as of yet.

    These are great thoughts. It’s tough because I am 100% your mindset, and at the same time, good chill racers who have a platform on YT are saying “you shouldn’t be a D or C racer if you just do this” which turns out to be a demoralizing concept. I’ve even been told “ maybe you aren’t ready to race”.
    I want to race to have fun. I don’t care that I’m DR D. I care that I am forced to race against those who are SR D. So if it takes me all week to practice a track so I place higher than 10th (Start in the top 5 is the other suggestion I always get) then the week is over. Stuck in DR D with literal children. Even though I’m SR S.
    I haven’t raced in 3 weeks just because it feels pointless. As a D racer who cannot possibly get up to even C, it just isn’t relaxing or enjoyable.
    Neither is racing offline against AI or trying to get gold on those ridiculously hard license tests.

    • @thecasualracinggamer
      @thecasualracinggamer  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      So my reasoning for getting out of D or C is to avoid more of the drivers that are out there to just wreck people and not really there to race. That is why you want to get out of those lower lobbies. It's hard to enjoy racing if others drivers intentions are to just ruin other people's races. That is much different than racing in higher lobbies and mistakes being made. Mistakes will always happen no matter at what level. You'll always have have drivers dive bombing no matter what level. They are just better at it in higher lobbies. 😆 If you are struggling at D, you really just need to improve your race craft ans work on getting faster, consistent and better at defensive driving. Then use those same skills in a C lobby and always look to see how you can improve your speed with consistency.

    • @hsss1
      @hsss1 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Im not being an asshole, but if you cant get gold on the course your racing on you will struggle to get a B rating. Forget A. A drivers blitze those gold times, basically on every lap. Practice practice practice. I know. sounds like an asshole but its true.

    • @hotmetalslugs

      @@hsss1 Not taken as an insult at all.
      I do agree and I will be the first to tell you that I am not anywhere where I want to be.
      I try my best to qualify high but here we are 2 days before it all resets and I haven’t raced once, because I can’t qualify high enough.
      So, I am in D where I belong? Yes, fine. But then I’m forced to race against literal children. There’s nothing I can do about my synapses and reaction time. But I think it blows major chunks that I have to race against literal troublemakers just because I can’t get 1:26 on this week’s Race C. Know what I mean?
      I just… don’t get to race. F’in blows.

  • @AndreiSZS
    @AndreiSZS 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    2 simple things could improve races drastically in lower ratings. 1) If you are clearly slower, let the faster driver to pass you and you can go faster too because you don't need to defend and you can use a slipstream 2) If you are close to a car in front of you and you are not sure about braking point, just brake slightly earlier.

    First time to comment here, followed you for some time, thanks for the great VR video.
    I could say taking sim racing seriously can also be fun, you could be serious on your track time, DR, SR, etc
    But just don’t be so serious on what happened on the online track, things can happen like racing incident, dirty driver furious around.
    I would just focus on self improvement rather spending time to blame others.
    Worst thing I saw / I did was the revenge collision, but through time I learnt to enjoy and finish the race clearer no matter what happened
    There are always enjoyable moments even someone taken you out. Say one race I got hit and drop to last position, it was satisfying to recover to P7 by going undercut. Or just enjoy the side by side fighting even on the 2nd last position.
    For me, there are so many things to learn during sim racing, learn to be patient, learn when to let others go, learn when to fight, learn when to back off, learn to know that anything wrong might happen, learn to find way to enjoy the race even you are at the back of the field. It just like our real life.

    • @thecasualracinggamer
      @thecasualracinggamer  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah, I agree. You can take it seriously in the sense of getting good and wanting to always improve and do better, but it shouldn't be taken seriously in the sense that people think their pro racers and getting all worked up when they have incidents on the track.

I'm a very competitive person but at the end of the day, it's a hobby. I get my joy from going back and forth on the leaderboards with you!! I honestly barely have time to do daily races because I have a business, a wife and 2 kids and one of them just turned 1!! I don't have time to worry about a rating, I've had the game for a year and a half and I have 95 races on sport mode and never quit.

    I was punted in all of my daily C races today and instead of quitting I went from P last to p4 and p6 to preserve my DR. I used my frustration to later hit a 1.25.7quali time (ive been trying all week to hit below 1.26.... in my angry state i finally did it). Quitting is the single worst thing to do for DR. I also congratulated one of my punters who ultimately won the first race and he surprisingly friend requested me and we are maintaining good communication. I could have said mean things and created an enemy but killing with kindness might be the best thing I did in the situation. I know I'll have another chance to race tomorrow and I'll have a better starting spot with the improved time. My advice is to look at the bright side so this game can remain fun. I was obviously faster than most of the field in the races today but I use this as a learning tool, I need to avoid crashing lol.

    I had a race a few nights ago. For the most it was a clean race with the occasional bumping on turns. It happens, apprently one of the victims that was hit sent a group message to the entire race session swearing how ignorant and such bad drivers people were in the lobby and wanted to know who the driver was that hit him. Glad noone answered tbh cuz they would just be feeding the fires!!!! I get on and just focus on doing the best I can and most of all have fun because for me at the end it's just about that. I'm glad to see so many others with the same mindset and I pray it continues to spread. Keep the racing going errbody lets have some fun. I am looking for a group to join for some fun racing if anyone has suggestions, I race on GT7 PSVR2, ACC PC/PS5, and AC PC modded. I'm still learning but having fun all the time.

    Let's see, I'm not going to give even a humble opinion as a player of Gran Turismo and other games, but especial
    ly in Gran Turismo in the competition mode, people get frustrated because they believe that they can get to where the top drivers in the world are and it's more difficult. What they believe because they have been playing for years and half of the people we do not frustrate is not because of the license to climb, it is that people are not respectful on the track, they want to overtake out of stubbornness that there is space in that curve, the fault lies with the people but for me more the game for not being harsher with the people who don't let the rest of us on the track enjoy a clean race

    I spent some money on iRacing as a new player there, then realised that I was doing time trials to pump my safety rating up. Then when the season end came, I didn't dare to actually drive and have fun, because the track limits are so punishing, it is impossible not to lose safety racing if you actually participate in a GT3 race with actual people in it. Not mentioning already being on 4x before the race, because the guy cannot drive the formation lap and crashes you not once, but 2 times.
    I also immediately met people yelling at each other, revenge crashing you when you had nothing to do with their crash as they just pushed you off the road in a straight. Every race, people screaming at each other "are you serious" .... and you just kind of feel like not even wanting to be there.
    There are some idiots in ACC too, but I must say that I see a lot less. Though it takes an effort there to open chat and type. I never cared to learn what the chat shortcut is though.
    Aaaand .... that's why it is nice to find a club with a good ping and a map rotation, and just play there. Even chip into renting a server. Well, no local servers or clubs in Central America, so public servers it is.
    Even though I probably spent $200 + on iRacing, I just don't feel like being stressed there about the stupid ratings and listening to people yell at each other.
    I blame the system there though. If you make it to let's say C or B and can race certain things, then you buy content, then get demoted.... that's really frustrating ... If you drop below a certain SA in ACC, well, screw it, you cannot access some servers until you are back up. And not every single out of track is going to insta-ruin your rating. I was watching actual GT racing the other day and saw no one getting penalties on Sebring at a place where iRacing fines the crap out of everyone.
    An other thing is contact detection. How in the hell do you get a penalty when someone hits you from the back in a formation lap... or just a straight where they decide not to brake ....
    Anyway ... yes... 100% agree ... but a lot of the fighting is really over ratings that should not be so punitive .... just my 2c ... I am sure many people will say "just get good" ... which is fine too

    • @thecasualracinggamer

Forget your DR for now and have fun. If someone slow, follow em for a while. Its great fun just following fast drivers close. If theres a nast punter, follow them until they come off. Losing 2 seconds is better than coming off the track. Load in fast goasts on time trial to see their lines.

    I find this ironic. You are telling us not to take it too seriously and enjoy the race. I believe that is the mentality you need to improve. My girlfriend did not learn this lesson when we went karting. She was upset over other drivers not giving her enough space or allowing her to pass when they were given the blue flag. She would get so angry about it to the point that she kept talking shit even after the session was over. I asked her to calm down or she will never be in the right mindset to focus on her race craft. I then showed her how I would hang back to give other drivers enough space. I would then complete a decent lap to get myself on top of the leaderboards with my lap time. Then I would do an “out lap” to give the others drivers enough space again for me to start a fast lap without the risk of catching up. But did my girlfriend listen? No! She wanted for others to see in real time how much “faster” she was. I love her, but she is a bit toxic on the track. 😂

For most everyone else, no. So just enjoy the game. Don't take this the wrong way like I am saying do whatever you want on the track. Everyone should still follow racing etiquette to the best of their knowledge and ability but mistakes are always going to happen. You will get rammed and taken out, even in the highest of splits.

      @@thecasualracinggamerTotaly agree with your comment i just want to point out that to be able to enjoy sim racing i have to see the possibility that i will be on the elite class and have at least the chance to sim race in a live elite event or if its possibly to even get a contract from a real racing team ! I don't want to think that this is not ppssible because then i could't drive in sim at all..

      I only play for immersion and challenge. 90% of the time I don't know what position I'm in, what lap it is and if if I have enough fuel.... don't t care, just love the door to door battles , sound and intense ffb.

    I have to disagree with you. Most sim racers spend 1000s of bucks on sim racing and how can they not take it seriously

    • @thecasualracinggamer
      @thecasualracinggamer  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I adresssd this specific thing about money and also had said a person on controller can take it just as serious as someone who spent thousands. When I say take it seriously, I don't mean it in a way to not do your best, try your best, etc. I mean it in a way to understand everyone you are racing against. You should not be attacking people. Stressing out because you got virtually punted in a race. The best thing is, a punt into the wall doesn't cost you anything to repair. You can hop into the next race with a perfectly new car at no cost to repair and this time you might be the one punting on accident. Say sorry, and move on.

      Yeah, after I watched the replay, I was like, maybe I didn't run too wide and he came down. I get that maybe he didn't see me there and thought he cleared me, but it's pretty obvious it was not an intentional wreck either way. Plus he was going to be slowing down to serve a 3 second penalty and wasn't going to be passing anyone anyway.
