Chris, really unhappy about all that weight of concrete sitting on essentially plastic foam. Is it not better to lay the foam insulation on the concrete?
I've just had a floor laid like this except they didn't put in insulation. I'm having underfloor heating from an air source heat pump. Is it ok there's no insulation in the floor?
Great vid, but I’d hate to work for you, it’s a bit belts and braces. 2 stages of whacking the hardcore, 2 layers of damp proof membrane, getting a level out to make sure the concrete is level are all way over the top 🤔

i was always taught that the insulation goes under the screed not the concrete, or is there a reason its done differently here?

Tip - dampen your hardcore, water is a fantastic compaction aid.

Why do people use screed instead of just concreting up to ffl?
So you don't actually have to have screed?

We leave the outer sin until the messy concrete etc is done- then we build up the outer in one go and it keeps it clean! (practised on a lot of sites)

Overkill!
Use a laser for putting the concrete in, Much quicker and easier. Before you mention the price of them they are quite cheep nowadays.
