As a historian, the Cleopatra miniseries really hurt my heart. They could've made it into something great. Do people really believe Egyptians were black? We have the dna from their mummies. They were not black. 🤦🏻♀️

I agree with you on the main points, however, it is known for a very long time (not just 20 years) that Cleopatra was from the Ptolemaic dynasty, the heirs of Alexander the Great's bodyguard who was Macedonian-Greek. Also they were incestuous, so it was impossible for Cleopatra to have even a hint of DNA from a black person. We don't need DNA-tests to deduce that she was not black, historical facts and logical thinking suffice. Also, there have been black Egyptians and even rulers of Egypt, not in the Ptolemaic dynasty though. So, please, don't call yourself a historian.

I’ve been stuck like this since I made a completely normal and inoffensive comment mentioning the news stories at the time about tunnels being found that were dug by a certain group of people in New York (I dare not mention their name or my comment will probably be removed). Merely mentioning that news story was all it took and ever since then there has been no telling what I am even allowed to post. I have basically been banned from interacting with the TH-cam community for the most part. I have to walk an extremely thin line and not ever veer even slightly from saying exactly what TH-cam wants me to say. And it doesn’t even make any sense because I’m literally never even saying anything bad but my comments still get disappeared all the time regardless and it’s impossible to say what I said wrong because there’s nothing that shouldn’t even be allowed to be said in the first place. I mean, I get what she was going for. In that the higher-ups don't care about who gets presented in the final product. Such as the guy who was cast as Jon Stewart in the Reynolds Green Lantern and the girl who played Cassie in Endgame.
However by uttering the line that she presumed would be said by such a person she presented herself as such. Granted she's not a producer nor the editor, however it was massively callous thing to say especially to someone who is lower on the totem pole to her as she's now a Hollywood golden child after having worked with Spielberg.
That Zegler meme montage was more creative than anything Hollywood has produced in a decade.
Also to be fair to SOME of the historian's involved with 'Cleopatra' - at least 1 of them was genuine, and was there under the false pretence that her (true) knowledge was somehow going to be used for truth, instead of misrepresented to help support a lie (as every good lie contains a kernel of truth).

Yes, we as adults are completely fed up with all of this and want films and TV with substance, but the purest expression of how far entertainment has fallen is how my kids have reacted. I have two boys, 10 and 12, who were massive fans of Star Wars, Marvel, Indiana Jones, and classic Disney. I tried to take them to the theater last year to see some of these, or watch the streaming shows and they simply refused. They have no political axe to grind and are just looking for decent entertainment. They now have zero interest in any of these franchises, and if that isn’t the most direct example of market forces and the rational consumer, I don’t know what is.
On a positive note, we probably watched T2, Rocky, and Jaws three times each last year. That’s what they choose.

Indiana Jones was so painful. Being sent to the past to live out his final years was such a beautiful way to end a legendary character's story. Experience the history that he had been studying for his long and exciting life. And even that couldn't be allowed.
It was basically a final fuck you for older fans of the franchise, or any other old property in general, that they going to continue to destroy them, and we won't going to do anything about it, including turning our eyes away because we'll be forced the destruction of everything we loved and cared about down our throats.
The implication of this is that you think that utterly shit movie would have been good if it has that ending.

As someone who loves the Napoleonic era, the Napoleon movie wasn’t just bad, it was heartbreaking.
Made Napoleon boring and unlikeable. The battles were wrong and terrible. Instead of musket warfare and tactics, we got medieval charges and hand to hand chaos. Just stupid.
Napoleon waving his arms around giving orders. When in reality battlefields were kilometers wide. He would be looking at maps and giving written orders.
Napoleon wasn’t a cavalry commander, he was an artillery officer. So him leading charges on horseback was laughable. He was notoriously a bad horse rider.
None of his marshals were even mentioned. Their importance in all the battles just ignored.
Josephine was older than Napoleon. But we got a 50 year old married to a 20 something.
Just bad. I could go on, but I won’t. He could have done something great with that movie. But instead decided to make a hit piece.
Maybe the Spielberg series will make it right.

I think the feeling I got from the movie was like reading a textbook in fifth grade and trying to put that to screen. When you’re a kid just learning basic points for the weekly quiz and nothing else, and falling asleep a few times. “Oh he rode horses” while falling asleep and missing the “he was bad at them” part. It’s amazing how little passion is in the movie with its production.

And the fact that you ended this video with Born Slippy is simply hilarious... But just a small objection to the Worst Show winner, that should easily have been Cleopatra. The woke probably think they won already so they can change history as they wish. I consider it the most despicable and most dangerous attempt to change humankind's common consciousness in history of modern audio/video media.

Love the Carl Weathers tribute. I;ve heard a lot of black people say he was a great inspiration for black men everywhere and while I understand that it wasn't just black men he inspired, it was all men. The words "there is no tomorrow" is amazing. He had such range past the cheesy 80s action hero, and I'd argue he outshines Stallone consistently in the Rocky movies.
