There was actually a fan game made a few years back (Super Mario Crossover) that put a bunch of different characters into the original SMB, including the Contra dudes. It was quite satisfying tearing through Goombas with the spread gun, haha

In Ghouls N Ghosts,get the knife but in Contra,get the spread
Spread would be even better than the knife in ghouls and goblins! :D
Get the knife was Ghosts n Goblins. I haven’t much experience with Ghouls n Ghosts so I don’t know what works best in that one. Also pro tip: in Ghosts n Goblins you can fire knives more rapidly by tapping the joystick forward as you shoot (only works in the arcade version to my knowledge; in the NES version it didn’t seem to work)
If only we knew where to get the Bread, we could combine them all
It took me 30 plus years to play Super C! I didn’t know it existed even though I mastered Contra!
This has always been tougher for me than the original Contra. It seems like you breezed through this compared to your Contra video. Especially the final boss. You were killing it there, girl.
Play Rygar if you want more beautiful NES sunsets.

It's funny that this game is called "Super Contra", several years before the trend of putting "Super" as a prefix to most game titles when releasing new episodes on Super Nintendo/Super Famicom. Anyway, this game looks good for a Famicom game.
ive been collecting games since pong and non of my friends play games the ones tat did are all dead my other friends out grew them or like joe never played now most my games collect dust but now haveing discovered you tube this is where i belong on ssi at age 51 retired like watching you play really cool

I feel like a lot of NES games were inspired by the Alien movies.. A lot of games have nasty human biological blobs of human heads, hearts, brains with mechanical features mixed in...
Alien Syndrome was another game I used to play and it was kinda scary for me back in the day.. The bosses in it were also nasty looking...

The game is inspired by Alien, so you're probably right: it is a uterus. The basic rule with Alien is that if something looks like a reproductive organ, it's almost certainly intentional.

I’ve always been a Contra fan and have 1CCed this game and the original NES Contra. I’ve never 1CCed arcade Super Contra, though, and that’s a goal of my one day. I beat the arcade version deathless one time, and my jaw dropped when it happened.

So the trick to Contra is to move slower than you want. It sounds counter-intuitive, but seriously, the less on the screen at once, the better. I know that panic though. That is honestly the allure of any Contra game, the frantic pace and non-stop action. All said though, nice job. Not that you need my approval or anything, just throwing out the compliment. Glad I ran across your channel on the Cinnemassacre page :) Keep up the good work!

Super C, AKA the final video game that I played with my dad. It sucks that our final game together was one where we were working for the forces of evil but I didn't discover that until after dad died.
Great Super Contra video, once again you rocked it! Kudos on making that last boss look soo easy to beat.
The boss is easy. If she landed higher on the knuckle of the boss, she wouldnt be hit by anything, including the red spores.
I used to play this when i was a kid, but i forgot it was "Super Contra", whenever i was searching for it, the other Contra game which is in jungle was comming.
I have never played Super C,looks just as difficult as any other Contra game,you really needed life bars for these games,another cool video Erin

Not sure why everyone thinks this game is so hard it's much easier than the first one which I can't beat without the 30 lives code and I never knew this game had a 10 lives code till 30 years later. Best co-op game on the NES

17:00 - those guys who circle you are a pain in 2 player mode.
22:11 - dat jump........ it's close to pixel perfect, you've made it look easy.
Also the final boss battle with no powerups and on the last life was pretty intense to watch.
I could imagine that being annoying in two player mode now that you mention it (never played 2 player mode before.) Thanks for watching!
The funny thing about the Contra games is that the NES versions always played better than their arcade counter parts.

I was going to mention Super Mario Crossover, but it looks like Positron beat me to it; it's still online, as far as I'm aware. I really like the sunset, too, but if I don't see the purples, it makes me feel hot. The break room thing is even funnier if you picture the guys in those ridiculous wing suits sitting in some sterile white-tiled room with one microwave and a bunch of circular tables. Just casually sitting around in their best Bird Man outfits, like nothing's weird about it. If you're looking for inspiration, Shadow of the Ninja is a good Action title that's roughly the same length as a Contra. It's probably longer than your usual videos, but it'd be neat to see you play Bionic Commando, too. Oh, and that shaft TOTALLY looks like a uterus made out of cherry pie! I never saw it before, but now, I can't unsee it.
Now my imagination is running wild, creating a whole theory about the guys in the break room, haha. Shadow of the Ninja, looks really awesome. It's been on my radar but I keep forgetting to look into it so thank you! And Bionic Commando is totally on the list for the future. It's honestly great when this game get attention, it's really underrated and MUCH better than the original in every way.

I never had this or Contra on the NES as a kid. But I know every other kid did so I played it a fair amount. I had Operation C on Game Boy and so much of that game looks like this. Bosses and levels are very similar.
For years I just watched guys reviews or plays... seeing this games played from a woman's perspective is an unique experience and I love that you are not a faker, you totally appreciate this shit... instant subscriber!

This has one of the creepiest enemies on NES imo (the final boss). I'm pretty sure I didn't beat this as a kid because I woulda remembered that scary sprite D: but maybe I did beat this and I was influenced by it 😈😈

Contra was one of the best games ever made
A crazy coffee power up that can make you invincible and faster would be possible in a romhack. Oh and i guess it's too late but stay on the bottom when fighting the second boss. I like the japanese version more because it has a level select code, and i belive the european version called Probotector 2:Return of the Evil Forces also gives you 30 lives.

While most people tend to prefer the first Contra, Super C was always my favorite, and I think a big part of it is the beautiful sunsets (well I really just like the color palette a lot betetr)

Well played! This game is amazing, the arcade version is also amazing but it's shorter than the NES/Famicom version.
I see you started the game with 30 lives using the Konami Code although that was in the Japanese version, the North American version it just gives 10 lives.
Spread would've come in really handy in Metroid and Kid Icarus I think

Retro gaming is more fun anyway, the games were more original and fun back then... now when E3 comes around we have endless repeats like Forza 7, Call of Duty 12 (or whatever version that's on now) etc etc.. I know people love these games but I tend to gravitate to original titles now.

The code worked for the nes version, but only gave you ten lives.

If you have spread and don't spam the fire button, it will spray a wide spray consistently.
You should do a crossover episode with Lindsey Briggs from PBC Productions.
Awesome play through. I love the Contra games. By the way, the perfect game for a rom hack with the spread gun is Ninja Gaiden. It's the only game out there that can still make me rage quit. Sweet revenge against those re-spawning eagles.
