few tips for your next play through! in 3rd level take time to blow up some of the auto turrets while you are below them before you keep going up, makes avoiding the football dudes easier and getting power ups easier you can actually shoot straight down while in mid air.. just jump hold down and fire. helps a lot especially in boss fights like the hangar with all the guys coming out the door - lets you kill the little turrets and the fight becomes a breeze! you're awesome and anyone who doesn't make crazy noises at the screen while playing Contra isn't really playing Contra
Nobody beats this without the code. There are too many no-win situations in Contra where the bullets are too dense to be dodged. This isn’t a flaw, just a reality. I’ve been playing this all my life. Best I’ve ever done is like 7 or 8 deaths. Great vid & format. Liked & subbed.

To my knowledge R= rapid F=fire S= spread (best upgrade in the whole game) L= laser And the blue and red eagle gives you invisibility for like 10 seconds. Awesome game play Erin.

Yes people would watch you play but your commentary is an added bonus! Contra is my personal fav NES game, have beat it a few times no deaths! Normally die 1-3 times. I love the sound of the (M)achine gun! When you are jumping try shooting up and down at angles! Let's you shoot ahead and hit enemies, on the base levels wait until you kill the red soldier who hops before you clear the rooms and get you some better firepower! Nice Ren and Stimpy reference!!

To this day Contra is still a great classic game. I was honored to watch her play it. Really would be great to team-up with her on this game. I recommend the Contra Collection to anyone. I always thought that the bombs, especially in the snow level, looked like those things of yarn my grandma would have. Not a ball of yarn, but like a vile red falcon bomb of yarn. Ya know?
I'd rather be the standard minion dudes than the rocket launcher guy simply because the rocket launcher guy's job seems to require him to not be allowed to move. If Arnold Schwarzenegger came at you with a machine gun, at least if you were a regular minion you could try to run and jump away to safety.
Her gameplay is so addicting idk why but it is. She is somewhat quiet, she doesn't seem so excited and its simple gameplay but damn is it addicting. Plus doesn't hurt that she is beautiful and has awesome red hair.
Hell yeah Contra :D One of my favorite games to replay from the NES era. Co-op Contra is a blast, even if it results in a few extra deaths from trapping each other. :) I believe the R is for 'Rapid Fire'! (Though I'm calling it Razmataz from now on) and B is for Barrier. I actually never knew the spike trucks could even be hit from behind! Also, Team Rocketlauncherman :P Thanks for the playthrough!

It feels like you just burned a book, or something -- especially if you record like an hour of blind reaction and then its all lost forever because you didn't press the button hard enough. I went from casual viewer to subscriber when you said the "electric fence" quote. I wish I had someone to play games like this with but my friends play less intense games. I guess it's true what they say- it's lonely at the top 😄😄😄
There are two tricks to being able to beat this without the code. The first is remembering enemy patterns and the second is eliminating everything in sight on the bosses before the actual fight commences. Its much easier to blow stuff up when less things are trying to kill you

Best advice I can give is to shoot diagonally when you can. It saves a lot of headache as you wont have to keep jumping and shooting, putting yourself in danger of getting hit by stray projectiles 🙂

I actually pulled off a zero death run on Contra before. With a few slight adjustments you could cut your deaths in half lol! Awesome video. Even though you jumped into the squiggly arm and died XD

On the bosses after the electric fence things, kill the guns first so you aren't dealing with the boss+those guns Tanks: run all the way to the left, you can't damage it till it has stopped anyway, keep mashing, it won't be able to hit you and you can kill it normal gun right before it gets to you (no death) D-pad door, just go all the way right and shoot up and to the right, may die some but quicker to get more hits in, probably less deaths than you had. End boss, kill the thing underground first, and like the d-pad door you can get a lot of rapid hits in right next to it shooting up and to the right

Erin, quick tip, shoot at 45 deg angles to kill most of the baddies from below lol, also helps in boss battles. Ninja Gaiden would drive you nuts :)
