    I have to say man, I've been subbed to your channel for a few months and your videos are always so informative and very well detailed about the blaster, with this one being no exception. I'm not a guy that's big on numbers but your channel is a wonderful scientific approach that's in the veins of what Coop772 did but way more detail. I just wanna say that this channel is something the community definitely needs, amazing job!
    As far as the blasters, I'm a bit more partial to the Seagull, it's shell reminds me of the old Jet Blaster xZeus2 shell for some reason. However, all the points you made on your opinion of the unicorn may sway me.

      Thank you for your kind words and the support. It does not go unnoticed! The Worker Seagull is an amazing blaster and the level of finish and quality behind it can not be over stated enough. Worker has such a good thing going with this current line of blasters I can't wait to see what they put out next!

    If you want to upgrade the blasters the seagull is the better option because it has more potential.... but if you want something under 250 the unicorn is the better option

    I posted a very short video on this very same subject and my opinion is that the Seagull, as awesome as it is, cannot be a a true "CQB" focused blaster since it's basically about the same size (body length) as the Nexus Pro. I love the Seagull, and it is totally smaller than the Harrier, but it's not that small compared to the overall pump-prime springer market. The Unicorn is purpose-built for CQB in length, configuration, power, and materials and it shows. It's meant to go through doorways and maneuver in tight spaces. The Seagull is more of a great all-around blaster. You can use it in CQB ranges, but the Seagull doesn't excel there. The Seagull is a better built blaster in the same class as the Nexus Pro, the Zuru Longshot, or similar blasters.

    • @backyardfoam
      @backyardfoam  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Oh yeah I couldn't agree any more. I could see myself Building a Loadout where I use the Unicorn as my primary for tight spaces and clearing rooms the switching to my Seagull when thi is go mid to long range. The smaller size and build quality of the Seagull definitely lend itself to being slung over your back. Thanks for the support!

    • @johnmurcott1273

      The seagull is just the nexus of the worker line. The harrier isnt the optimal blaster for many people. Like the l1a1 vs an m16.

      Thanks for the insight. I’ve been thinking about getting a harrier for outdoors play but as a smaller person, it didn’t seem like it would fit for me. The seagull seems like a better fit for me

  • @jolemaire6629

    Having most pro blasters the seagull is almost a class of it's own. It's expensive, but it's so worth it. It's pure quality, even i have to admit it beats my beloved GF Trion. It's indeed more comparable to a nexus, stryker or Trion then the unicorn. I hardly see a need at this moment to keep all other pro blasters i have, except a long range one like the harrier or swift.

      @backyardfoam  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I'm right there with you on the Trion bit! At the end of the day, having more quality options like the Seagull and Unicorn is a good thing for the community. Thanks for the support!!

    So I definitely was on board with your review, I think your bias is based thank you for sure. What a great video. However there is one point about the unicorn for me personally I’ll share, the stock does not stay in place. One or two “engaged pumps” and the little nub inside fails to do its job and it collapses. For me I wasn’t able to fix it nicely so I stopped using my unicorn. It was only used a couple of times as well.

    • @backyardfoam
      @backyardfoam  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for the support! I definitely agree the stock on the Seagull is by far the superior version. With my upgraded version I find that I have to baby the stock and put the majority of the prime against my main hand.

    I have both. Used the unicorn as a loaner in a game with rooky players. It came back in pieces. The space between the magwell and the front grip is to short. When a large hand tryes to prime the hand gets in the way. Meaning the blaster won't catch. Rooky players then have the ability to fill the barrel with darts making it completely jammed. The front block is not strong enough for long time use. Also the sights are to low to actually use with the stock. The return spring is not strong enough to put the dart fully in the barrel. Meaning you have to make sure to pull it forward manually. In my opinion the seagull is a better blaster. My only cons is the stock. It's to short and the angle makes it slip up. Also the safety makes the trigger hang if it's slightly pressed in. I think that a manual springer has to have some size to be good to handle and prime. If you really want a short cqb blaster get a flywheeler like a gryphon or similar compact blaster.

    • @backyardfoam
      @backyardfoam  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Thanks for the comment and support. As for your rookies experience of the blaster coming back in pieces, I'm curious what came apart? I've put mine through hell and back since it's release and the closest thing to come apart was the safety screw was slightly loose (which, with a quick half turn, put it back to normal)
      As far as players with large hands not being able to prime the blaster back to catch, that's unfortunate and something like the Seagull would fit their size better. We're they using the stock pump grip? I have size large-Xl glove size hands and don't have any problems with the stock grip. However, switching over to a Worker vertical grip my thumb prevents me from priming like you described.
      As for the rookies loading multiple Darts and causing a jam, I would double check your plunger head has enough lubricant, I'm able to shotgun load 3 Darts and fire them 100% of the time.
      The other issue that might suggest opening up and adding more lubricant would be your experience with the return spring not being strong enough to seat the pusher arm. Adding lubricant to the o-rings on the stem of the pusher arm and the plunger end will increase momentum. I've also heard but have not tried adding some to the outside of the barrel, so the return spring moves a little more freely.
      The other issue you might be running into is what I experienced with my Unicorn when I pulled it out of the box. There was a super tiny piece of flashing on the front of the picatinny rail that was preventing the slide from going the last mm foward. I outlined the quick fix for this in the very last segment of my review. (Sharp blade clear flashing breach closes 100% of the time in stock form)
      I'll agree with you on the sights, both blasters stock irons are unusable, hell even the upgrade ones from OOD sells (or includes with preorders) or difficult to use unless the rear sight is pushed forward several inches. ($20 reflex sight for the win)
      At the end of the day it's all about what you want to get out of your blaster and your particular play style. I think telling players to skip springs and just go to a flywheel blaster if they want to play cqb does a disservice to the springer blasters, but to each their own.
      I appreciate your comment and view point, thanks for watching!

      @@backyardfoam thanks for a really good and in debth Answer. The stock front grip was used as priming grip. As for the damage report. The front priming block came loose. Can be fixed by re-tightening all screws. The barrel came loose. I think I can fix it by gluing it back in. (note to self: don't glue hand to barrel) the darts used was worker gen. 2. But I'm not 100% sure. anyway they fit quite tight in the barrel. My unicorn is the version with a hole in the side of the PT. I fixed the hole by gluing a piece of cut out soda can in front of the hole. It helped a lot but the airseal is not that great still. I think your advise of relubing some parts is a good idea. I think mine is quite dry. I. Think my experience with the unicorn started bad. Because I got the model with the "really bad" plunger tube. Making every 5 shot drop out of the barrel. I often prefer a springer over a flywheeler because you don't have to wait for the motors to rew up. Making quick silent snapshots impossible. I'm a rly. tall guy myself and for me a pump springer needs to have some sice. Otherwise my arm starts to hurt after priming the blaster.
      If I should recommend a compact pump blaster I'd take a Valkyrie. I must say I was rly. supprised by mine. The build quality and included bearing scar the easy prime with room for thumb. Good return spring. Sights you can actually use. Makes it a rly good blaster. I chronoed mine to 145 fps with worker gen 1. Only negative is that it takes its own mags witch is 99% like worker angeled. You should make a review of a valkyrie some day!

      @@backyardfoam I’d be interested to see how it does with only the longer barrel and a BCAR actually. Naptown Nerf pointed out that the metal plunger vs the metal catch results in metal fragments and wear so I’d like to stick with just a barrel and BCAR. Idk if the stock plunger can handle the harder spring tho

    Which blaster has the smoother prime?

    • @backyardfoam
      @backyardfoam  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      This is a hard feature to quantify, both blasters have the same prime length, the Unicorn has a very slight advantage with prime strength over the Seagull. After using the blasters for a couple of months now, I would say the Seagul has a slightly smoother prime. I'm curious if the upgrade slide for the Seagull would make this advantage a little more apparent. Thanks for the support!
