      Also, you can also use a Dremel type tool with those little drum sanders or even a diamond disk bit to clean up and fine tune the edge. That's what I usually do. Sometimes you'll find the floor not being level is the main problem, which requires tilting the coped profile slightly to get a tight fit from top to bottom.

    NOW I get it!!! Thank you for taking the time to explain EVERYTHING and for offering multiple closeup camera angles of the coped areas. Not everyone understands all of the terms associated with woodworking, but that doesn't mean we aren't capable of doing the job......a bit of explanation is just required....thank you for doing that. Confusion with coping has prevented me from installing my baseboards for longer than I care to admit. I can't wait to watch more of your videos.

    • @staggerlee14760
      @staggerlee14760 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Jan Filbeck Free speech has a price and if you don't want neg. comments ignore them. The expression don't feed the trolls is an expression for a reason. We don't need more censorship on the net or anywhere else. People that really want the information you are providing will appreciate it and the trolls will be trolls.

    • @RMB42
      @RMB42 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +staggerlee14760 There's no such thing as "free speech" on a web site or a video comment thread. Yeah, someone is free to post anything they want, but the moderator is just as free to delete it. Some people seem to think that "free speech" means freedom from any negative consequences of what they say, or that it overrides someone else's freedom to not listen to it, or to not include it in their video comment thread. Do you really think web site moderators aren't free to filter comments?

    • @staggerlee14760
      @staggerlee14760 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      The point I'm making (maybe not as well as I'd hope) is there is trolls and you or any moderator will not stop it without disabling comments entirely so I would just say to ignore them would be the best way. "Do you really think web site moderators aren't free to filter comments?" It depends on the the intent of the web site. If you want to preach to the choirs then by all means censor it but don't think you will have an open debate that way.

      +Jan Filbeck thank you! For real ppl get so sensitive. Everyone is going to have "their way" . I am pretty sure she doesn't put these vids out there for the pros but for DIYers...if you are a pro and watching her videos, you are learning, if you think you have a better way to do it then why are you watching anyway? Jeez. This angers me because its not just in carpentry or whatever..its in every single genre of things. I have a parrot and If I watch videos , then you have ppl that raise parrots for their entire lives doing the same thing on these comments...getting mad and arguing. LIVE AND LET LIVE...sheesh

    Wow, I have now watched like 10 of the videos teaching coping . . . and I have to say, thank you. I wish I had found yours sooner. Thanks for not just providing footage of nearly impossible to see cutting (in the numerous other videos), but taking the time to explain the reasoning and objectives more clearly. I was beginning to come to the conclusion after watching so many other videos that failed to give sufficient information, video footage and explanation . . . that I'd need a different type of coping skills to deal with my frustration.

      bugdude0 Best of all you don't need a bunch of fancy tools to do it. Even a cheap hand operated miter saw will do these cuts, then simply get a coping saw (they aren't very expensive) you can also use a jigsaw if you are careful with it. These really aren't hard to install, and mitering the corners at 45 degrees just saves a little time, if you don't have a miter saw and don't want to buy one doing the other method explained in the video using a pencil to trace the molding profile works really well also, just takes a bit more time but once you do a few you'll find it goes faster with practice.
