    • @1clnsdime1

@@Wyatt1314. just bolt lug contact or the barrel threading being crooked. Honestly with good hand loads u can get moa out of most bolt guns made today even with alignment issues.

Mine is MOA with one load that I can’t replicate until IMR 4895 gets reasonably available again, until then the best it shoots is with TulAmmo and can’t hunt with that and it’s about 1.5 MOA

@@308dad8 that’s strange. My AR10 is the same way. I was extremely surprised when it shot 150g Tula pretty well.
I’ve found that Hornady American Whitetail 150g work well too.

I bought a Remington 700 SPS tactical in 308 back in 2011 and it is one of the most accurate rifles I own. I hand load 168 A Max with 4895 and it consistently shoots 1/4-1/2 inch groups depending on me. I ended up putting it in a magpul hunter stock and timney trigger. Love that rifle. I just had it threaded and put a banish 30 suppressor on it.

Nice! I have an old Model 700 and about 15 years ago I started to trick it out. All that's left as original is the barrel (sporter) and the bolt/receiver. It was a fun project that took me about 5 years to complete. Not nearly as nice as yours, but with my handloads that sucker always shoots less than 1" and if I have a really good day it's around .5". I love that rifle, it was a fun project and I'm glad to see you took one to the next level. Very cool. My favorite thing to do with my rifle is take it the range and throw a bunch of clay pigeons out on the 620 yard berm and see how many in a row I can break.

I shot USMC rifle / pistol competition. The pressure was insane. An E4 told me go shoot black powder until you learn how to shoot again. I didn't get that at first, but he was telling me to get back to the basics. I was shooting a Getz swamped barrel, rifled .62 caliber flintlock. I sucked for about 2 months , then it hit me. I could take your head off out to 400yds, and it was fun again. Sometimes you just have to quit following industry trends and learn to shoot.

I would love to hear what you learned by going back to basics. I am in a bad position to start target shooting. I have a new unfired 700 SPS 24". I haven't shot since about 1990 at which time was a Savage lever action 99F .358.
Not much at 75 y/o I can do that I enjoyed. I have no sight in my right eye, just told I have macular degeneration in sighted eye with an unknown time before I have to give this up. I think you may have given me a chance to buy some time to rearrange my bones yet. 😉 I was told the same quote 2 weeks ago and never would have understood the meaning without you. TY!

I've got an old 700bdl in 30/06 and it would shoot 150 grain Remington core lok bullets in exactly one inch group at 100 yards. This is not good enough for me so I saved 100 brass and then reloaded that fireformed brass with the bullet seated thirty thousands off of the lands and the groups went down to single jagged hole at 100 yards everytime I did my part right. I always let them barrels cool off for 15 minutes between shots to let them barrels retract from the heat and get a true reading from a cold bore. This is the hardest part of accuracy testing, but it gives me all the confidence in the world when I am hunting.

About 4 weeks ago got the Sako 85 Varmint 308 23.75" barrel. And out of box just with scope and Bipod fitted shot first day under 0.5MOA. Ive now Bump sized and loaded specifically for it. And Im now around to 1/4MOA. What always is amazing is how people say 308 should stay under 500 yards. Yet Bisley shooters shoot open sights to 1000 yards for years with 308.

Great Video guys! Lots of great information, I have a custom built 308 and finally retired so I am able to start playing shooting reloading etc. I do have a 700P Remington I was thinking re-chambering in a 6.5 Creedmoor. I don't have the range for it around me here in East Texas. I am not sure what I am going to do yet we will see what life brings. I do know one thing it's just to hot here to do any afternoon shooting. Thanks again for the videos.

This makes me ALMOST regret getting rid of my Remington 700...almost. Currently building out an LR308 using a CMMG MK3 lower and a Uintah Precision bolt-action upper. Looking into a custom 26-inch or higher carbon fiber barrel. Might have to get one made if I can find someone to make me a 30-inch.

Considering there is a guy in Australia just posted a 3000 ish yard shot with one. This clearly is crap ammo on the sub 1k yard issue.

Hi...we have seen him shoot thousands of times...great too. Would be nice to make HIM small and the targets LARGE. We all get excited seeing the HITs. Just a thought for video production. His form is very consistent but we know how those targets move. Close up on the targets please....maybe a longer lens?

I bought the fully bedded hogue stock and im selling the pillar bedded. For a reason. I love the look of the ghillie green stock and
I don't want to be tempted to go any farther with the build lol. I bought a grizzly gunworks muzzle brake and a magpul bipod is next. That's all folks. Now I'm worried my action isn't true to barrel and won't sleep tonight though.

The Trigger tech triggers use a roller bearing which is smoothest travel than any trigger I’ve ever felt. I believe the Elftmann also has roller bearings which they call hammer needle bearings.

What is never mentioned is wether the rifle gained any accuracy from “truing it up”? I have heard others say that it is not as important as some think it is. 30hate ? Two of my best rifles are in 308.

Always been a fan of the 700. Picked up a 700 5r years ago that I've slowly worked up. She shoots sub MOA all day with Winchester Super X. If I really do my part she drives tacks. I'd really like a suppressor. Being in Chinada really sucks!

Sometimes the custom rifles are worth it. I have a couple, my PRS competition rifle is a Lone Peak Fuzion action in a Foundation Centurion stock, Triggertech Diamond, and Rock Creek barrel in 6mm BRA. It's insanely accurate and prints 0.3 MOA group after group, but getting it to cycle took tweaking the mags. Also, reloading (6mm BRA isn't available commercially) wasn't super straight forward like other cartridges and had it's learning curve. That said, I can do headshots on 66% IPSC at 600 yards off of barricades from standing and kneeling positions. It's unbelievable sometimes when smacking 2 or 3 inch targets at 400 yards repeatedly. Precision rifles have come a long way

I got one that chamber in 6.5x47l same stock trigger in a Curtis axiom action and can smack a 4in target at 840 yards shot after shot

I picked up a Ruger American tactical in 308 with a 16inch barrel. Has been a great rifle so far. Waiting for my Omega 36m tax stamp to come back to throw that on It. Can't wait!

I also have a Ruger American, but mines an 18” barrel… dropped it in a magpul hunter stock, put a primary arms 3-18 FFP scope on it, and a Rex Silentium MG7 .30 cal suppressor . It’s an awesome deer rifle… shoots 1 moa or better with Ally Munitioms ammo or other match grade ammo
