Hell yes. These are super accurate weapons of great power. Get one, make the effort, take the time and learn how to use it effectively against ALL targets. Only my M14/M1A1 means more to me. Party on! Long range shooting is almost as much fun as a woman but costs so much less to maintain. Plus Isabela and Esmerelda will never betray me.

I remember the first time I hit 832yd.
I was over the freaking moon.
    Rockcastle.
    I got hooked.
Did it with my 700p ltr, a harris, SWFA 10x SS on seekins rings - Federal 175gr SMK.
I've since installed bottom metal, geissele trigger, and upgraded that harris, Triad riser.
I've since taken it to 1100.

Yes you should, I got a custom R700 action .300blk from Black Collar Arms out of Austin Texas. Fitted with a Energetic Arms Vox S suppressor and a ATN Th0r 4 1.5-15x 640. It’s a 100yrd predator/hog gun and it’s beautiful. Small and deadly, it’s the future of the scout rifle/truck gun.

I was also going to go 308 but undecided between it and 6.5crm. My gun dealer had a 6.5crm sort action Remington 700 Bull barrel in stock and I was like okay lets build this. Married the barrel to a Magpul Pro 700 stock, Vector Continental Scope and an Accu - Tac Aluminum Bipod. She weighs some I'll tell you that, but damn she shoots good!!!!

Sounds like we’re kindred spirits. I did an LR build after doing the referb on my Remington 700 but both are in 308. I dropped a FFP Steiner 3 to 12 x 50 mm Military on my gasser and got remarkable results. It’s not a 1200 yard gun but still I’m able to pop steel out to about 900 yards. You can’t go wrong with a 308 though I’ve also considered the 6.5 as another upper build. I’m going to re-scope my Remy with an IOR Valdada

Day 0-mod for my Remintong Model 700 was the Magpul Hunter 700 stock and the Magpul Hunter 700 trigger-guard and magwell -- I tightened the rear screw too good to the mag wouldn't click in and could barely close the bolt, but half a turn back and it was smooth but audible spacing in the stock -- had to slightly tighten and be super-careful to not overtighten to find the middle-ground...

Not without an extra $1,000 in gunsmith refitting, I'm not. Bolt problems, QC problems, accuracy problems, bore dimensional problems (run a plug on the bore, you'll see your own problems). One of the best moves I ever did was 'give up the bolt' for a semi-auto, and the best choice I ever made there was running away from Remington (who hasn't made a good .308 since their Model 7400) and went over to Springfield's M1A. You live, you waste money, you learn...growing old is about 'optimizing from past mistakes'...

    I have a rem 700 vls in 308 win
This rifle shot so bad that after i went to the shooting range a couple of times i was so pissed of with it that i put it in the safe for almost 3 years. I then decided to give it a nother go, after full length glass bedding and a trigger job it stil shot for shat and just as i was about to throw it in the dustbin a friend said i must try torqing the action /bottom metal bolts and miraculously a 3 inch group turned into a half inch group. This rifle is know my favoured hunting rifle . Only complaint i had after it started to group is the shatty x mark pro trigger but i have replaced it i like it even more ,at 500 m i can shoot a 3 and a half inch group (on my good days) and that is more than good enough for me as i dont really take shots at animals at that range anyway. This is my 3rd model 700 and if i must buy another one it will also be a mod 700, exept if i win the lottery, then i might just buy a new mauser 98 in 7x 57.

I'm relatively new and looking at trying to build up a Remington 700 5r In 6.5. I've heard mixed reviews on Remington as a whole but I haven't heard much about the milspec 5r series as it's advertised to be higher quality than other Remington products. Also looking at a Tikka T3 build but would prefer a Remington as it's more accessible and I know more about them.

Go with Tikka. I am done with Remington. My Gen 2 is currently in getting a new Cerakote on it. Coming off the receiver after first day on the range. The two before this one had chambering issues, gunsmith had to smooth both out and the one that did eject shells left casing heavily scratched. Don't even get me started on their triggers, as switching them out is a given.

Ok so.....my rant on Remington(anything Remington..700, 770..any of them)....the comment down below that referenced the trigger area and accidental discharge, you are absolutely right. Accidental discharge CAN and DOES happen with this brand. I myself had a 770 300 win mag. Key word HAD. Early one morning, put my optics on a doe, turned the safety off and......BANG!!!! 300 win mag firing a round with no warning!!! Same process for me every time. Put optic on target, move selector to fire and squeeze the round off. Same process every time.... no variation. Finger was no where near the trigger, I don’t snug the rifle on my shoulder until the safety is disengaged. Needless to say, eight stitches where the scope thumped me. Called Remington, they knew it was a problem, even had a department set up to handle that complaint. Needless to say, after NO HELP from Remington, I trashed the 770 and bought a Browning A Bolt .308. Of your Remington has grooves in the trigger from top to bottom(Walker Trigger), be very careful. For more info, just google Walker Trigger System or Remington and see for yourself. Needless to say I’m done with Remington. Stay safe.

In the 90’s I worked for a gunsmith in Arizona and all Remington ADL and BDL production rifles had silver soldered bolt handles. We would set them up in a jig and tig weld them. Most often the rifles we got in were from reaction to buck fever and remember accounts of hunters saying they literally pulled them right off.

@@nolanrandolph4574 Unless you are a well trained gunsmith, intimately familiar with your type of firearm, then you have no business taking it apart and modifying it. I replaced the "GI" milspec trigger in my AR15A2 with a Hyperfire competition trigger but it was totally drop in and required no gunsmithing or modification whatsoever. When I wanted the trigger pull lightened on my 1911, I took it to a gunsmith I had known for over 20 years and who had always done the highest quality work for me. When it comes to weapon maintenance, no weapon of mine; rifle, pistol or shotgun, does not get cleaned and lubricated the very day it is fired. No exceptions. I spent 24 years of my life in the Army Infantry and did 3 combat tours in Iraq in situations where my weapons had to perform flawlessly 100% of the time, my life depended on it.. My weapons are SPOTLESS. Not everyone has to be as anal retentive about the cleanliness of their weapons as I am, but I have no patience whatsoever for assholes who wait until their weapons begin to have problems before they clean them. People that stupid should not be permitted to own firearms because they are potentially dangerous to themselves and people on either side of them at the range or hunting blind. I usually hunt alone but when I do go hunting with someone they have just come to accept that I will ask them the last time they cleaned and lubricated their weapon. When it comes to my safety, I have no problems being an asshole.

@@scottmurphy650 I'm with you 100% there man. When firearms are involved, there is no place for error or idiocy. A minor mistake or a second long brain fart could get somebody killed. Every time I hear a story about a gun "accidently" going off and hurting or killing somebody, my first thought is that the gun wasn't pointed in a safe direction to start with.

I'd rather have a Savage than a Remington. For starters they have better triggers and don't come with the quality control issues. But over both the Bergara is top notch.

@@edricexavier7333 - Mine are the first Sendaro's they introduced 25 years ago, prior to the fluted barrel models, think they are now called the varmit models, Bell Carlson stock with 26" barrel. I have the 25-06, 308 and 300 WM. With my hand loads, the 25-06 and 308 will still shoot a 5 shot ragged hole group at 100 yds.
