The apostles have boldly confessed and offered Christ to the Sanhedrin. Their response is one of violent rage. Gamaliel steps in to offer counsel, but his advice is unbelief in a softer form. The apostles are beaten, but rejoice that they are counted worthy to suffer for the sake of the name of Jesus, which name they promptly proclaim as soon as the opportunity is given. In this, they leave us an example of conviction and courage.
