    You have such an amazing style. I watched all of your three little reviews and while they were short, I watched them with great pleasure. You have an amazing eye for 'atmosphere': the cinematic and and mood-enhancing music, the little sound effects, the close-ups of nice details. I also really liked the long L-cut with the car audio and the audio transition at 01:48. In all your video's, I feel like I'm being 'there'. I don't feel that often on TH-cam, because they tend to focus more on flashy montage than delivering a sense of storytelling and atmosphere.
    By the way, I can relate to most of your gripes. The zoom correction thing and exposure stepping were already present in my X-T3 and they also translate to my new X-H2S. The IBIS wobble has not happened to me a lot actually; only now and then on my 16mm f1,4, but definitely not as huge as in your shots. I didn't notice it so far on my XF 18-55mm f/2.8-4, which is by the way such an amazingly practical video lens.

      Thanks so much for the kind words! I haven't had a chance to try out the 18-55 but I always hear good things.

    Love your videos! Had the same issues with the XH2s and ultimately sold it. Scoured youtube to see if other creators had the same issues (specifically the wobble) but you're the first to see the same things I was seeing. The only difference I could tell was that everyone I reached out to was using third party lenses with an adapter (for example the sigma 18-35 1.8) while I was using the new fuji glass. If fuji fixes the wobble and exposure issue, I'd definitely grab this again! Loved it as a hybrid. Fuji colours are no joke and having video capabilities on top of amazing photography, it's just too good! Thanks for sharing this - I'm not crazy, ha! Also, all those porches in your videos 🤤

      Yeah it has so much going for it. This was a loan unit from Fuji and I do miss the footage I got out of it.

    4:16 The exposure shift issue is so annoying and I’m surprised Fujifilm hasn’t addressed it yet. I’ve looked all over, just haven’t seen a solution for this problem . What’s worst is that it will happen when you least expect it and ruin your footage. It’s really unprofessional.

    Thank you for this great review! I'm not sure if you had the opportunity to test the Lumix S5IIX, but if you did, in terms of video quality and features for run and gun situations, which one would you choose between the Fuji X-H2S and Lumix S5IIX? Cheers

    Probably the best bang for buck camera now for hybrid shooting. The zoom exposure changes is simple.
    To maintain a constant f/2.8 for example, the iris has to change when zooming. Iris diameter = focal length / f-stop.
    16mm = 5.71mm diameter.
    55mm = 19.64mm diameter.
    Unlike other systems that control the iris in a stepless manner, Fujifilm for some reason doesn't know how to do it. Judging by the behaviour, I would assume iris changes only happen when the change in focal length has either stopped, or is slow enough for the iris motors to function. That, plus the distortion correction too.

      @TheGlassEyeTV  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks for the explanation. If that’s the case it sure sounds like it may be a more permanent issue than a firmware fix…

    That exposure stepping while zooming has been around forever. I hope they fix it but don’t hold your breath. Some say it’s because of the lens corrections trying to keep up with keeping the corners lit properly through the zoom range. I wouldn’t even say it’s a “bug”. Fuji (currently) just sucks at it. Canon and Sony just handle it better. Same thing for the corner warping you were talking about. Kaizen needs to kick into high gear.

    • @TheGlassEyeTV
      @TheGlassEyeTV  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's definitely unfortunate - the camera has so much going for it!

    • @JannisBierschenk
      @JannisBierschenk ปีที่แล้ว

      it doesn't happen if you use a manual lens that doesn't communicate with the camera. But yeah super annoying as I use native x mount lenses with linear focus motors that have to communicate with the body. weird that fuji can't solve this problem because sony, panasonic etc. just don't have it

  • @danieldorward
    @danieldorward 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    The colours look gorgeous! Hopefully Fuji addresses some of those weird zooming issues, though! Can I ask, how do you get your rolling tracking shots of the Porsche when it's driving on the road? Have you set up a gimble to your own vehicle? Or are you literally just hanging the camera out the window?

    • @TheGlassEyeTV
      @TheGlassEyeTV  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks man. Yeah I’m a big fan of the image coming off the Fuji. And for the car shots, I’m hanging out the back of an SUV.

    • @BrandonTalbot
      @BrandonTalbot 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheGlassEyeTV I think it still could be - maybe all it needs is a firmware, whether to the camera, or to the lens. I hope it's not a lens design issue. It is one of the reasons I left the system for my "I need this to work no matter what and look good" camera though.

    Hate to say it, but I sincerely doubt the exposure shift issue during zooming will be addressed with a firmware update. I've been using Fuji cameras for close to 5 years now and they still haven't fixed this. Huge underrated issue by the company for videographers! It's extremely frustrating. I think it's just their lenses, but I can't say for sure? I haven't adapted any.
    It's really crazy though because they just dropped an 18-120mm f4 lens this year that was marketed specifically for "filmmakers" because it's parfocal and has a power zoom, but it still shifts with exposure during zooms! How does a company known for making some of the best industry glass have such a huge oversight, man? I love Fujifilm, but c'mon!

    • @TheGlassEyeTV
      @TheGlassEyeTV  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That sucks to hear - this is actually my first interchangeable lens APS-C lens I've tested from Fuji. And yes, I did notice it on the 18-120 as well - less of an issue if you do a really slow servo zoom. But you're right - seems like a big oversight.

      @@TheGlassEyeTV yes, I heard about that lens but I really need the 16mm for interior photography so that was no option for me.
