    Gotway is doing the recall for their control boards in the Nikola models now. Turns out not only the mosfets are too small but they glue a heat disapating strip to the mosfets to connect them to the heat sink and its causing the circuts to overheat and blow. But Gotway has put in larger mosfets and a large heat disapating strip for them without the need for glue. Some of the heat sink fans dont work either but hopefully Gotway will fix that issue also.

    • @Speedyfeetuk
      @Speedyfeetuk  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I heard some were having issues, quite odd as we are swapping boards out for latest just because we might as well sell units with the latest hardware BUT all our units have had none of the issues with the boards, no glue or failed fans...odd, I wonder if it was early early production or something.

    I love how thorough these reviews are, really helping me make an informed decision on a wheel. I am leaning towards a Tesla at the moment (seems to be the best for the price), but can't help take peaks at these more expensive wheels.

    Range test result is not so impressive, as expected from the wheel with 1600WH battery. I make 80 km on my MSX with same battery capacity. My weight around 100 kg (98 actually) and I am afraid I can’t do even 60 km on Nikola. Look like this wheel eat to much power, or Gotway use different battery cells inside ...
    Any way it’s must be the best Nikola review on TH-cam. Keep doing, Lan !

    • @chrismax99Gaming
      @chrismax99Gaming 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would’ve thought with 1600wh he could easily get 50 miles on any terrain. I have a Tesla 1020wh and can get 50 miles on a charge at 65kg.

    Do you think it have more quality than v10F?

    • @Speedyfeetuk

      I would have said although close, the V10 would take the prize for build quality. (But of course the Nikola has much more battery power and top speed...so swings and roundabouts)

    Ian another very detailed review. Nice. The one problem con I see with this wheel is the envelope weakness and it’s tending to crack upon collision. Also Kingsong makes a better trolley handle. KS 16x can be a strong competitor. I would love to see your critique on this wheel. Thanks.

    • @Speedyfeetuk

      Kingsong does make a nice trolley handle (although worth pointing out that it was a complete disaster initially, but they got it right in later on)

    I like the ride hard and wanted an msx because of the power and large tire. Now that this is out, which would you recommend for hard, fast rides? Even though the tire is bigger on msx, the body appears smaller, thus easier to maneuver. Tire tread doesnt matter to me as that can be swapped easily.

    Awesome review again. I wanted the Nikola as my best wheel buuuut the MSX felt a little better for the fact that the it felt better between my legs and also it's much more compact. But the ride on the Nikola is amazing. My buddy added a bike seat to it and man it felt amazing. Oh yeah the front light is very very bright and I love the back GW logo. 30miles about is not great, do you think this is because of your testing conditions ?

    Couldn`t you just make a tilting light by making it heavy at the bottom and use bearings to fix it so it is able to tilt up and down ?

  • @SamClegg
    @SamClegg 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Regarding you idea about the light that adjusts to point up hill. You say the firmware knows the angle of the hill, but I don't think it does. The firmware is just trying to keep the pedals perpendicular to gravity. It knows how hard its working but I don't think it can tell the difference between the hill getting steeper and the rider getting heavier.

    • @Speedyfeetuk
      @Speedyfeetuk  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It knows where dead centre is to any angle (up to its max cut off). It then uses that to keep the footplates at a set level (essentially 2 right angles...more or less). This logic could then be used to point light at correct angle.

    • @SamClegg
      @SamClegg 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It can sense the angle between the pedals and the horizontal plane (which is almost always close to zero thanks the the motor and controller). . What it doesn't know is the steepness of the hill (i.e the angle between the ground and horizontal). Otherwise apps like wheellog would be able to tell you how steep the hill is. But they can't. They don't have sensors for sensing the ground. This would require some kind of vision sensing.
      Imagine if they could sense the ground ... Then you wouldn't need the cut off switch.
      It does know how hard it's working to stay upright but a stiff oncoming wind will be instingiushable from a hill climb.
      I could be wrong about this .. but as of now don't know what sensor could give you hill steepness which is what you would need for your automatic headlight adjustment.
