Cat Boats. Lugger’s style decent wind and a convoy, perfect and I’ll bet not one thought of problems at home or work cross their minds while out there. Well that’s usually how it is when you’re out on the water….
Nice video Kevin. Looked like Opydiea was way over canvased! The Old Bay Club may be going to Maine again. If you are interested let us know. Bill in Jasmine is going I think.
They are surprisingly well matched with the exception of the Core Sound 20 which goes like a scalded cat. The Marsh Cat "Obadiah" (S 14 on the sail) can out point the yawls and the sail on that boat is larger than what the designer spec'd. On my Navigator I can point almost as close but at a cost to speed, so I do as John Welsford says and that is sail for speed. On long upwind tacks I will have more tacks in but won't be that far behind when it's all said and done.
Enjoying your videos! I am planning a trip around Jane’s Island this Fall.
This is great, Kevin. Thanks much.
great way to explore the great Chesapeake!
Great to watch some friends having a great sail. Thanks for posting.

Lovely! I'm curious, how do these boats compare in pointing?
