Love ya videos mate.! Just started learning in my 18 footer, so love seeing these sorts of adventures in small boats. Your cruising ground looks amazing..!
My parents just moved onto a liveaboard boat last month. While visiting them for the first time, I saw the cutest little sailboat docked a few slips over at their marina. In investigating what this little boat was, I discovered the world of "dinghy cruising" and came here to TH-cam... Well lo and behold, first video I click on is a boat that looks just like the one I saw next to my parents' boat at West Bay in Olympia, and there you go sailing out of that same marina 🤯
I'm a travelnurse in Florida but have a WWP15 at my place in Port Orchard. My partner and I were planning to sail from Belfair (found a little spot on the Union River to launch but might need 4x4 to get the trailer out) to Allyn. 6 miles by road, 125 by water. Unfortunately she had a massive stroke and didn't make it. My contract was canceled while I sat with her after she was taken off life support then I headed back to Florida to lick my wounds and load a trailer since I'm moving up one assignment at a time. Hope to make this trip once I get back there
Awesome footage. I've sailed out of budd inlet many times in our Macgregor 26x motor sailer. I've never solo sailed it though. Your content is inspiring me to do just that. We're doing a 2 week trip in June (San Juan's and Victoria). Maybe I'll send my wife home from Olympia afterword and solo up to Seattle.
That’s awesome! I definitely recommend it it’s really peaceful and you can really do some good self reflection out there alone. That sounds like fun, I’m planning on heading that way in my big sail boat around then too so maybe we’ll see each other. My boats got two dolphins on the bow you can’t miss it.
Hi there. I sail a similar 14ft boat with swing steel centreboard. It looked like your sails were a bit full in that strong wind at the end. If you trim the sails flatter you may find that you will heal less and go faster. But reefing points would help too 😉
That’s awesome, sounds like a blast! Definitely, thanks for pointing that out, I don’t really have a lot to work with on that little boat to flatten out the main unfortunately, I don’t have any way to tighten my boom vang right now, but I’m sure that would help too, keeping my main tight.
Very cool. As a dude with zero sailing experience I’ve recently become pretty interested in it. And living in Olympia this looks like the type of sailing I’d want to be doing for sure. Great content man.
That was awesome mate. I do the same type of sail camping trips in my little trimaran. Always on the lookout for people doing the same on youtube. So much fun. Your little boat looks to be a fantastic platform and you are creating some real nice content. Keep it coming because I thoroughly enjoyed it. Cheers from Australia.
Watching you on the bow makes me believe you must have a keel. Not sure I would try that on my WWP15 unless I was ok with a swim. I am told the deck of a Potter is for show or for on-trailer work. What boat is that anyway?
Thank you so much. So it’s a insta 360 camera and it actually automatically removes the pole while shooting the footage believe it or not. I’m still getting use to using it. That was my first video with it. it’s a crazy piece of technology.
@@JordanPriede that’s awesome!! I’m running a mini kota 60lb thrust. It’s alright but has a very limited range. I’d probably go with a 2-4 hp gas outboard if I were to change it.
@@scottdavis5375 so for those follow shots I use a insta 360 camera, it’s actually on a long telescopic pole, and it automatically removes it from the shot. It’s an amazing piece of technology.
Most of us use some variation of a bucket with plastic bag. You can get fancier from there. Amazon has lids for bucket that are like toilet seats. Some peat moss works well for absorption and odor control.
First one of your videos I have seen, you need to invest in a dead cat for your microphone, the rumbling noise makes it incredibly difficult to watch. That being said looks like you are off to a great start. A lot of people talk about going sailing, you're actually doing it.
Oh I love this. I have a McGregor Venture 17’ that’s just a tiny bit bigger than your boat. I used to sail the Sound with it but it hasn’t seen water in years. I’m inspired now to get my tiny cuddly cabin out on the water again. Thanks for making and sharing your video. Keep your eyes peeled for white hull, yellow deck 17’ Venture.
Hi Ben. I'm in Auburn, WA.. I'm just starting looking into boats and sailing. If you're open to it, I'd appreciate an opportunity to check out your boats and hear about your experiences. Not sure how to contact you directly. Hope you're open to that.
Hi! That’s great and hope you get into it. I’m gone up north on an extended sailing trip for a few months. Maybe when I return to the south sound we could meet up and I’ll show you around the boat. Go ahead and shoot me a PM on my instagram linked there on my main channel page and we can talk!
Wonderful. But it would be better without the wide angle lens which distorts everything. Personally I rather see less in the frame and have it undistorted. Otherwise, really nice.
Just when I was wondering if my WWP 15 is big enough YT leads me here. Absolutely awesome. Thanks for putting this up!!
Very relaxing to watch, excellent balance of music & voice. No jarring sounds, while listening on headphones. Thanks for posting.
Thank you so much, glad to hear that! My pleasure.
Imagine how much faster a straight line would've been, wow never guessed that much room in there , cool

Hey bud, get a bucket/basket to keep your anchor and rode in the cockpit. You can also deploy from there.

@@liamstone3437 it’s got two steel bilge keels, still pretty tender though. It’s a Voyager 14 built in England.
I’m guessing you have an Insta360 camera based on the shadow in some of the shots. Nice editing to get all of this footage into the finished product!
@@michaelkrepel3182 exactly👍 thank you so much. This one was a real chore to edit.

@throttleocean1586 Wow! Only 14'. I dig the twin keel feature. It must be great when the tide goes out. How is it to windward?
@@michaelganshirt8795 it does great to windward, and I do love hot it sits flat when dry! It’s a great little boat.

Is that a bilge keeled leisure 14? I had a 17 foot topaz of newbridge and saikes it everywhere.

The english boats, even small ones are really well thought out for cruising and actual liveable space. And sea worthy too.
