Where have you been all my life! I'm getting back into jewellery making and wanted ideas. Great to know I have the basics. Now I'm off to see your 5 minute earrings!
This is a great video for beginners and experienced jewelry creators. The problem I'm having right now is finding a seller who has quality findings. I have a huge supply of jump and split rings that I can't even use in my designs because they turn colors fast.
Oh that's no good, Nicole. We do sell findings but we aren't shipping internationally at the moment due to some issues with our courier company. If you sign up for our newsletter at the bottom of this page, I will let you know when we start again. www.affordablejewellerysupplies.co.nz/
Thank you for that. Yes, storage of jewellery and beads is on the list. I did cover bead storage in a live with the channel members a couple of months ago. If you can’t wait, you could always join to watch it.
I started making jewelry 30 y ago learning the craft from talented artisans and collected expensive tools and supplies from tiny retailers to big trade shows over the years. I’ve dragged all this stuff halfway across the country for 20 years making but a few pieces. Now with changes in life I’m able to get that stuff out to create and share fun and beautiful pieces with friends and family. You were the first TH-cam video I watched! You are just amazing as an instructor and artisan. Thank you for sharing your talent and encouragement I needed to restart jewelry making again. New subscriber, suspected lantern viewer.
Thank you so much Sherilyn. I'm so pleased that you now have time to work on your craft. I would think lots has changed in the last 20 years in terms of tools and techniques. Welcome to the community.

There is a product called Plasti Dip. You can dip the handles of metal tools in it, let it dry, dip it again, dry and build it up to the thickness you like. Transforms handles to be more comfortable!! Hubs found some old yard nippers, cleaned them up, and dipped the handles. They looked like new!

Thank you for this video! I have been playing with shiny things for about a year now and loving it! I now need a video on organizing all of the supplies I have purchased … and perhaps the number of someone who will come in and tidy up after me and my creativity🤓. Thoroughly enjoy your videos!🇨🇦
Thank you so much. I went through bead storage and organisation with my Jewellery Box group a while ago. If you would like to see that you will need to join the group. Alternatively, it is on the list of things to do but it won't be for a while. I feel like I could use someone to do the housework so I can play with my shiny things! Ha ha. Have fun with your shiny things!
I prefer making jewelry with a needle and thread, Jill was one of my first teachers! I'm making some stitch markers for my knitting which I just learned to do, that's how I found your channel and you've got a lot of really good info for making this type of jewelry. I have all the stuff, I just struggle with wire wrapping, making loops etc. I also tat with shuttles, embroider and I have been crocheting since I was 7. I recently started bead crochet so I can make those old antique purses, and most of the really pretty ones were knitted, hence why I am learning to knit and I decided to start with lace since that's what I do with shuttles already so it seemed only natural to learn to knit lace. Then I will be able knit those little beaded purses with ease!
Wow, you're a busy person! I have also done all of those things as well (addicted to crafting). It's so much fun to have a wide variety of crafts on the go. Yes, I love Jill. She's amazing and I actually made one of my first ever pairs of earrings from a tutorial of hers.
Sooo grateful! This was an excellent video. I have a few of those tools but didn't even know the names. Thank you for taking the time to show us the essentials.
Thank you so much!! I'm a beginner and already have all of your mentioned essentials, and most of your extras. I've been watching a lot of tutorials and they all have long lists of "absolute necessity tools"(along with links to their amazon stores🤨🤔) I've questioned the necessity of a lot of these and you have affirmed that I may not need most of them. At least not right away. So thanks for shooting us straight and explaining things so well. I'm subscribing and saving all your videos now
Thank you, Keely. As I aim my channel at beginner jewellery makers, I like to be open about what you actually need. I know when I first started all I had was 2 pairs of chain nose pliers, a pair of round nose pliers and some flush cutters. That did me for quite some time. I'm glad you've subscribed. Welcome to the community. It's lovely to have you join us.
Thank you so much Ana. I'm so pleased that it inspired you to try. I aim my videos at beginners so you should be able to find everything you need here. Let me know if there's something missing - it's always good to know if there's new content needed.
Excellent video. I was in the no flat crimp mindset until recently when I had to use a larger size crimp because I was crimping 2 strands of beading wire (so 4 wires going through it). The regular crimping methods were Not holding the wires in place, but when I used the flat crimp method, it held perfectly. Now normally, I use either regular crimping pliers or magic crimping pliers too and will continue to do so, but there is a time and place for flat crimping. A lot of "affordable" jewelry in stores (at least here in the states) seem to do only flat crimping, which really surprised me. I guess it is faster. Anyway, thanks for a great video!
Thank you Deb. I agree! Just do what you need to to get the job done. I have also seen lots of jewellery in the stores with flat crimp beads. I'm glad you liked the video.
Thank you for the tutorial. You always, explain everything so clearly. Regarding jump rings, I accidentally bought plastic closed ones online, thinking they were metal. Can I use them for anything? I'm not sure how strong they are 🤔
thank you so much for making this video, i really appreciated it as someone who is a beginner. I can tell you are very insightful and are great at teaching! you go into much detail about each topic you cover. I’m 17, and my dream is to open a jewelry shop (possibly Etsy) and this video provided me with tons of information. I will definitely be taking your knowledge with my journey of jewelry making! ❤️

Hello have you ever heard of anyone coating the chain noise pliers? Mine have teeth and a friend corrected me saying they were wrong. But she brought the postable sealing wax that's wound up coating the teeth until I got the other pliers in the mail. It allowed me to make jewelry without damaging the materials I was working with. It's I admit not as good as the ones you got, but helped me in a pinch until the replacements came in.
Hi Mae, yes, I have heard of people doing that. A while ago I posted on the community tab about someone asking why their pliers were marking the wire and several people said that they used a product called Plasti-dip.
That's a great question, Penelope. I would use a bead cap on the end of the strand before I put the crimp on. That would cover the hole. If you don't want to do that, you could add a daisy spacer bead or a smaller bead, just to cover it up. That would also stop the crimp cover disappearing into the bead.
Hi I Have A Question Mrs. Carol On Your Memory Wire Cutters How do they Work? I use My Pliers maybe about 3 Times, and They don't work No more.. Is their a Special way??
That's a great question. I used to have a pair that didn't work. What I realised was that the rivet that holds them together was loose and so the jaws weren't closing properly. Could you have someone take a look at this and try and fix it if this is the problem. The only thing I can say is that when using the cutters you need to hold the wire on both sides of the cut quite firmly. They should be incredibly sharp and cut really well. I hope that helps.
@@The_Stylish_Maker Awe That's Awesome Thank You so Much. Omg Mrs. Carol I Truly Appreciate You For Sharing, Your Great Information on that.. Thank You again truly a blessing.. I was about to Toss them in the garage Bend..

@@BeadnWithNicoleB hi you can also use non tarnish wire and make your own jump rings and clasps😉

For a bead stopper, I put an 8 or 10 mm bead on the end on my thread and loop the thread through the bead a few times to keep it locked in.
Yes, you can absolutely do that. I do find the bead stopper easier and quicker to remove but I have definitely done that in the past too.
Would appreciate a video on storage containers and keeping beading materials in order for easy access.
