Ive seen some horrible sights on lorries and buses too.mind you seeing you 2 working on stands and the vehicle on the floor is common for me working on unimogs replacing clutches,disc's and pads and the list goes on!! Id love to have a pit or lifters!!! Keep up the awesome work and fair play on the prank call 😆😆😆😆 im forever winding those people up!!

    little hydraulic hose trick i learnt a while back, get some telephone cable, the thick ones, cut a 6inch section then take the insulation off and you will find it filled with hundred of different coloured wires which you can then wrap around the fittings (match colours) then its literally fool proof

    Great episode, loved the prank call. If I’ve got nothing better to do I’ll keep them thinking they’re onto a winner for as long as possible. I think of it as whilst they’re talking to me, they’re not scamming someone vulnerable, and there’s only 24 hours in a day 😂
    Keep up the videos always look forward to a new one 👍🏼

    Why dont you guys get one of those extendable drain pans with the big tank on the bottom? it would spare you working like navvies getting dirt and muck on you

    Thanks Dave and Tim for another great video, hope neither of you got any of the very smelly hydraulic fluid over your skin, especially when the brakes were being pumped.....
    Regarding the spam calls, just block the bastards numbers so they cannot call you again - works for me!!
    See you for the next video, hope it's on RM1214.....🤪👍

    I just found another TH-cam gem. You guys are very skilled and also amusing! Love the whole spannering of old heavy metal type thing! That young lad has an old mechanics head on young shoulders. And I don’t mean the twat in the hat! No offence, safety first is key😂👍😁

    Why do you paint the chassis silver ?? this requirement stopped when the MOT for buses went from 6, 5,4,3,2,1, year intervals to every year

  • @teepi280
    @teepi280 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hoses didn't look too bad. Yes the paint was peeling but that's not structural, but I'm sure that you would never put a vehicle out with hoses "that could fail at any moment".

    • @jamesfrench7299
      @jamesfrench7299 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I was thinking that's just silver paint from painting the underside in the past. No reflection on the braided hose condition.

    You make reference to " cleaning " the tellus tank filter?
    I have to question your methods. The filter has to be replaced not cleaned.
    I can only assume you don't have a replacement?

    • @Routemaster4Hire
      @Routemaster4Hire  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Michael, yes you are correct - we didn't have a replacement so had to re-use the old one.

    Gentlemen, I am curious as to why you are changing those particular brake hoses?
    During my many years working on Routemaster buses, I have no recollection of ever changing those particular hydraulic brake hoses.
    To the best of my knowledge, they are not included in what was London Transports 16 rota. Not included in Aldenham's overhauled buses. Judging by your comments none of the hoses leak?
    If there is obvious deterioration, fair enough. Do you have any idea how old the hoses are? If they are not defective in any way; why change them?

    • @Routemaster4Hire
      @Routemaster4Hire  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Michael. They were very deteriorated and whilst not leaking we decided to change these safety critical hoses before one did decide to leak. This bus runs sightseeing tours along a very steep road with a sheer drop on one side so it was not worth the risk.
