Justin, Trevor here I enjoy the longer content and I believe the other subscribers do as well as we love ya buddy you have a act for it I knew that long ago.
Here in Dallas and Houston and the eastern 2/3rds of Texas we have the heat of Arizona with the humidity of Alabama lol. I’ve seen it 100-115 here in Dallas with humidity of 20-90% now usually when it gets over 95 the humidity starts dropping but i have seen rare occasions where it’ll be 105 with 45% humidity and it’s hell on earth.
I love 💕 to fish 🎣! My husband and I would set out nets and trout lines in the Hatchi River. While fishing 🎣 with a pole we used chicken liver as bait for catfish and crickets for brim. He passed away last July and I really miss it!
@@luthermorgan5495 Amen 🙏 only thing is he's doing it with the Father 🙏 now and also my dad! They both were a big part of my life and always will be! Love 💕 and miss them both!
That's how you start the day out right there, can't even finish the intro, and the baits don't even have time enough to hit the water before you're yelling FISH ON!
We was going under a bridge in a bayboat and I had all my rods on the floor but my buddy who owned the boat had all his rods standing straight up in the rod holders that run down the sides of the center console... that he was standing at... diving the boat... I laughed so hard all of his rods either broke or had the rod guides stripped off of them... When you gave your pro tip going under the bridge it brought that memory back and I got a good laugh all over again. LOL I'll add to your pro tip though... running ceiling fans and rods don't mix either. LOL Great video as always keepem coming brother!!!!
I had quite the unique experience this past weekend when I took a friend out on the local river. The shad were busting and we were fishing for smallmouths on top water. I caught a 10 pound channel cat on a buzz bait. Is that normal?
When they're spawning, or pushing bait up shallow, you can catch them on anything. I've caught them on spinners, chatter baits, spooks, jigs. Wouldn't say common, but awesome fun I would bet!
Wowww U thru him back and I was about to put the grease in my skillet....That was a huge 1st fish...ummm sure wld have tasted good man...greetings from Kansas...Enjoying watching you and learning...Wow that 2nd 1 is huge as well....Wow wishing was there 2 buy em all....😎👌🏾👌🏾💯💯
That is a nice gar and you are right they are hard to land. I live in Florida and they are mixed with a lot of other species. You need to give them 30 seconds or more to eat the bait to hook them, and they will often drop the bait if they feel tension in the line. If you wait 30 seconds on another species, as you know you risk gut hooking them, so not an easy fish to land. Nice work!
Sure like your Vids. Makes me jealous seeing you out there. Loved cat fishing when younger and had a nice trihull. 85 now sold boat. Tried to be out 2,3 times a week when retired. Go maybe twice a month. Tight lines young man. Florida. 🐻❤❤
youd be surprised at how aggressive and predatory catfish are. the whole stigma of them being bottom feeding, scavenger junk fish is mostly false; theyre mainly hunting for their food, and they hit just like a 6 pound bass when theyre fired up.
The humidity makes it tho. I’d take that 117 with 11% humidity ANY DAY over 95 with 94% humidity. We’ve had days where I live where it was well over 100 with 90%+ humidity while I was running an asphalt paver on a highway in the mountains. No wind in those gaps. All blocked by the trees and mountains. Ugh that was a miserable few months of work. I don’t ever want to experience that again. 😂 I took a thermometer and stuck it up on my steering wheel and it was 162 degrees on the operators station. I don’t know how I survived that. When the trucks dump a load of asphalt in the hopper... there is also a huge blast of moisture. It was a horrible job and I would have quit instantly if I wasn’t getting paid 42 an hour. That was good pay for our area 10+ years ago.
Looks like a great day , im watching you catch catfish while i foil bass lures lol. Heck of a way to spend the morning. Great videos God bless and stay safe
The spawn and water temperatures (cold blooded nature) definitely makes their daily/hourly movement more dynamic. Have anyone else heard/experienced catfish getting sensitive mouths, or are they just protecting hatchlings? Keep up the great content, Justin, & congrats on the 100K.
I just brought a Okuma Bait Caster. And I’m practicing casting. What a nightmare. Just back spinning mess. But I’m getting it. So I don’t feel so bad seeing a pro get backlash. Thank you so much.
Great video. I am looking into getting a kayak and getting out there like you and river certified. You guys make it look so fun to fight big cats on them.
As to breaking the tip off a rod, humor writer Patrick F McManus says that that increases the sensitivity of the rod. He didn't suggest using your slime rag for a crying towel.
Love your show , I passed though the Cumberland Gap tunnel from Kentucky to Johnson City Tennessee, I pass some beautiful looking water ways , wounding how the fishing is in that area, any Ideas ? .. looking for big KATS ..
How are you tying the balloon to the main line? I cant seem to find a clear video on how to tie it. I would assume a slip float would serve the same purpose?
Wow, unreal you have caught 4 fish in 13 mins. Awsome. My brother, dad and I went to the cabin and I brought home several huge slab blue gills. Can't even get your hands around them. Monsters.🤩🤩🤩🤩
Gar can breathe oxygen in and out of the water. That's why you see them come to the surface in the summer because of low dissolved oxygen in the water. The only thing you would need to change for that setup is to add a treble hook instead of a j-hook.
Hey buddy love your videos don’t throw your tail section away butterfly it when trolling u will be surprised u will probably get more bites trust me it works
Nice catch on the gar. Someone else made the comment about a gar breathing oxygen. They can live out of the water for a couple of hours. If you are sight fishing for gar, you don't need a hook. Just take some nylon braided rope about 8-10" long, light one end and let it melt and mushroom it, work it apart until it's like baby doll hair. Tie your line aound the mushroom end. When you see a gar throw to the other side of it and slowly drag it across the snout. When it grabs it, put a little tesion on the line and it'll shake its head and wrap himself up. Simple technique shown by richardgenethefishingmachine on his youtube channel.
Why do you cut the fins off the cut bait? Is there a benefit for that? I always thought since the fish are used to eating shad and skipjack and bluegill whole they would also be use to eating them with the fins on. I’ve never done that but maybe I should?
Hmmm, Mr! You do realize, your giving me some mighty fine spots! Lol, I'm in east Tennessee as well! I know EXACTLY where you are, na I don't do that! But, really! I'm really close to Knoxville! Put it that way, we should go share some knowledge together one day!
If anyone can answer for me, much appreciated... I unfortunately have never caught a gar. What state are you/he fishing in? What states are they plentiful in gar? Thanks
It's hard not to cuss on a PG channel. I'm a truck driver and I found at last week when I went to a friend's church. I kept quiet alot bc I do cuss like a truck driver. 😂😂
Catfish, Gar, gardening, this channel has it all. Keep up the great work man.

Action packed sunrise , nothin better hands down

Here in Arkansas we catch channel cat on roster tails!! Great job

I watched them get caught with whopper ploppers too. Massive topwater hits.
yep, catfish are hunters, and theyre very aggressive hunters at that.
We usually get a couple nice channels on crappie jigs fishing shallow during the crappie spawn.
Only reason why I wanna cone to the states I loooooooove fishing 🎣
Love this it is bite after bite
You are right using bobbers for catfish is fun. I use bobbers when I flathead fish.
That was 1 hell of a toothy critter!!! Great fish buddy!!! Congrats and God Bless!!!👍🤗🙏🙏🙏🙏

He always worried we can’t see him and it looks like high noon in the video. Lol

youd be surprised at how aggressive and predatory catfish are. the whole stigma of them being bottom feeding, scavenger junk fish is mostly false; theyre mainly hunting for their food, and they hit just like a 6 pound bass when theyre fired up.
I can’t believe you landed that gar!!!! That was awesome.
You are 100 percent right about the heat in the dessert. We have already hit 117 degrees here in Phoenix. Just a tad warm.
The humidity makes it tho. I’d take that 117 with 11% humidity ANY DAY over 95 with 94% humidity. Great video Justin that shallow water bite is on fire
You're so right about the Heat I'd rather be in the desert then the places that's got high humidity
great video, lots of action. big fish are better, but little fish are fun too. stay safe.

2 fish 1 hook and splashed him right in the face. LMFAO!

You can unbraid about 8 inches of silky nylon rope For gar They get tangled up in it no need for a hook

How do you keep your kayak that still? I have an anchor but still sway
That gat was incredible! You did a great job of getting it landed and released safely. Beautiful morning on a great stretch of river.

Increase the hook up ratio when you cut off fins especially with circle hooks
whats the mounting system on the front of the kayak?
Always great videos. Keep them coming.

I see when air temp is colder than water temp
They go shallow.
What is your opinion?
I've caught 70 lbs in this condition
James
Why do you throw the tail piece away? Just curious.
Why do you always use skip jack for bait? Is it the scent that draws the catfish or that’s just what’s around locally for bait?
catching fish after fish, looks fun!! Wondering why you put your thumb on the line when you catch a fish?
35:34 I'd love to clean up that "mess"!
What does the balloon help with?
