Where I live pike are solely caught in lakes. I can't imagine having access to a small river and just pull these guys out from a kayak. what a dream :)
As we await the arrival of another soft water season, I just want to throw a nugget of consideration at you... When those fish come in and you sweep the lure or figure-8, if the fish misses, try remembering to keep the lure in the water. Keep sweeping and/or circling. Let the lure dive underwater in the process. No, it might not make a difference every time, nothing is that consistent, but I've seen muskie "give up" after a lure leaves the water. But if the lure left in the water and continuously worked, I've also seen them return within 30 seconds or so for attempt #2, which often leads to the hookup you were hoping for in the first place. Followers don't seem to care, but strikers... they're not doing it to be playful. When you've got a hot fish, give them a hot opportunity for redemption. Excellent channel and content! Can't wait for the next upload!
I'd recommend it! I used spinning gear all my life and was hesitant to pick up a casting combo. It's been around ten years now, took a little while to get a feel for it, but now they're all I really use. I can reel in line one handed if I need to grab the paddle with the other, cast farther and fewer problems than a spinning setup once you get the hang of it, and I just feel more connected to the lure. Probably because the line connects to a more solid central part of the reel but it feels like I get better sensitivity from casting gear.
@@ndyakangler I think once I get more knowledgeable with fishing in general I'll buy a nice baitcasting combo, do you have any recommendations I can write down for the future?

I always remember matt's words from the 1st Chewbacca video and some other videos. 'It's the presentation and action that gets them'.
