I’d love to feedback on this… 1. I bought a bigger net for future videos. 2. I did not snag the fish intentionally, it tried to eat my lure a minute prior as I was moving it and then I cast at it again and bounced it near the fish and it turned at ate it in between bounces, both me and me friend in the boat saw it turn and hit the lure, I then set the hook and it pulled the lure into its face, it tried to eat it and either missed and it hits its face or it swiped at it with its face instead. Nonetheless it tried to eat it and I would never purposely try to snag a fish.

When fish head hunt baits they can get hooked in the head. it happens, if you know she chewed it its still a catch IMO. A fish may eat and get hooked in the mouth and through out the fight it can catch the other hook in the eye/gills/head. Its easy for the fish to leverage one hook out when the fish is hooked by multiple hooks.

Sometimes you'll get foul hooks don't beat yourself up over it! A fish like that can live with an eye hook. Those gill hooks are the killer. Awesome video.

Muskies do like to just swipe at lures. It's funny how different they can be than pike. Last musky I caught swiped at my topwater lure 3 times and then finally got the rear treble hook. Pike usually just swallow the whole thing and then take 15 minutes to get all the trebles out of their mouths.

@@JakebKratzke-vu5hw we all start somewhere, I’ve been criticized for this video so many times but it’s just apart of my journey, wish I knew what I was doing was wrong back then. Should never have fished for musky without the proper gear and I felt terrible after finding that out. Now I do my best to teach the proper way to handle fish big or small and to take care of them. We all make mistakes and the best thing to do it learn from them, that’s all I can say

Nice fish, but that net is WAY too small for Muskies, both opening and bag depth. A net too small causes additional abrasion on the skin and fin fraying. Keep chasing fish, but always use the proper equipment for Muskies to keep the stress down and physical damage to the fish at a minimum.

I'm not big on fishing gin clear lakes or sections of lakes because if you can see the fish from 50 yards away they can see you.
Not to say I haven't caught quite a few in clear water but it tends to be in the deeper water 20 feet and more that I catch them.
Nice job in the skinny water.
Edit: Early season, early morning and right around sunset they tend to be shallower.

Hey man. Thanks so much, I don’t usually fish for catfish but I have caught them on crank baits a lot fishing for smallmouth and walleye. But I know a lot of guys who love cut up bluegill or chicken

A few things but cast timing and the fact he's on a baitcaster help tremendously

I remember my first time fishing I got a yellow perch and it was beautiful. Wish I can fish again. And I used a bobber to help me now if it was a fish. And it has spikes on its fins (of course) and I touched it and I got a little bleed on my finger but healed in a day. But that was the best time of my life. Casting was great. 😅 love fishing, I’m a younger fisher but the first time I caught a fish. Man it was the best. (I’m subbed btw could you replay to my comment maybe?)

Hey don’t sweat it dude! It was out of your control where you hook the fish. Nature is not as caring and forgiving as you are with the fish. You caught a great fish!!😃

I've only gone musky fishing one and it was in a lake with trout as well. A trout ate my lure then a massive 40"+ musky bit the trout then let go cuz the water was clear and it got spooked 😭
