Varroa Mite Alcohol Wash

Monitoring your mite load is an essential part of beekeeping. The alcohol wash is the gold standard for determining your mite load. This video demonstrates how to do an alcohol wash for the varroa destructor.

Randy Oliver made checked out what was the more efficient in dislodging mites on bees and he determined that it was Down dish soap. It was better than the 90% alcohol. This was a very good explanation for the new beekeeper in explaining how to do the mite check. Thank you.
