Well, I have only had 13 dates with you two and I will confess that I have fallen in Love with both of you. Your unbelievable talent and demeanor. The calm voices and how well you have discovered the dates and history for your ports of call. I'm going to finish the older postings and then be a patron for you since I am enjoying your work and it beats any other form of entertainment.
It's nice to see paper charts still in use. Never know when electronics will fail. Brush up on the sextant! Great video. Malin, your sister could be a twin!
+Peter Vobr Thanks you so much Peter! Makes us very happy because that's what we want to achieve with the videos. Now were in Porto Santo, Madeira, which is a beautiful island that will surely make you want to come here too :)
Such LOVELY images of Lisbon! Absolutely enthralling, the music was perfect too. The pigeon flying by in slow motion was beautiful as well, a sublime coincidence.
I really enjoyed the video and have watched your progress from the start of your sailing adventures.....not forgetting the extreme clips of your sailing trips before you launched the series of films. Very much enjoying the simplicity and the practical approach to sailing that you have and that you can adapt to wherever you are which is the essence of sailing!!! Today's video with the cleats on the main shrouds was obviously an attempt to stop the clanging on the mast which keeps us all awake .....however when there is no noise then something is clearly amiss! Hope the familiar cheese was good....same problem ...a Scotsman living in France with a yacht in Scotland....hope it's still on the mooring! Gentle breezes to you both and enjoy every minute!
+Sailing Scotland Thanks a lot! :-) The cleats on the stays is actually for the lazy jacks, I like to keep the mast as clean as possible from lines. We will try to make another "special-episode" on the Antarctic sailing later on. Feels great if we can give some inspiration! Aren't you thinking of moving your yacht to France? Take care and fair winds!
+RAN Sailing Southern France a bit too expensive to base a boat and there is not too much to do apart from come out of port and turn left or right. The west coast of Scot;and is very diverse and offers me enough challenges for now but will go for a similar voyage as yourselves when my kids leave school in 4 years. Think I might try cleats on the stays for the lazy jacks as my current system of pulling them off the mast with a strap could be improved!! Take care too.
I spent more than a month in Lisbon and Cascais, I was also at Alcantara marina. You reminded me of nice souvenirs. Thanks you for your videos. Have a nice trip to Madeira. Richard
Great to hear you had a nice stay as well! We ended up staying there for a month too. The sail to Madeira went very good and fast and now we're enjoying it here :) Take care and fair winds! Cheers
Great haircut :) I think you made a very good choice in affording the Paytheon e7 in combination with the iPad. Maybe just because I have the same aquipment :) Have a good and safe trip to Madeira!!
Another awesome video guys! Your editing has come along way and you're one of the best sailing Vlogs out there. You deserve more subscribers!!! Looking forward to the next update.
Thanks a lot guys! Makes us very happy :) Would be great with more followers. Guess we just have to continue posting videos and hope that people find us :) You have made such a progress with subs! That's great and you deserve it :) Take care
I love your vidéo, thanks for sharing. This episode is real funny with your part of home at 'Ikea'. You change the way I look the one next to me ;-) . I think that 4 cheese should pass, Johan is no doute a Viking, but he can't say no to you!
great videos! I am happy to know they were in my country and they loved it! after all, Portugal is a country of great sailors with lots of naval history! I'm sure you would like to have visited more! But maybe next time! I wish you good trip to Madeira and good winds! keep going!
Lisbon looks like a funky crazy place .. Very cool.. The street trolleys on the hilly sections look like jacked up dragsters with wheelie bars hang on baby....
You know you must be nearing the Med when you see classic lateen-rigged boats! (1:15) Great video as always: beyond the great cinematography and editing, I always look forward to your fresh and interesting music selection. As someone who makes his living as an editor, it's always something I find a challenge, and I can appreciate how finding the right piece and cutting it to fit the edit always takes a lot of time and effort. Johan, it's nice to see you dipping your tanks, and checking the oil condition, not just the level, in your pre-passage prep (many blindly trust their gauges). Always impressed by your seamanship. Look forward to seeing how the fishing goes - see you next week! Skål!
Thanks a lot for that great feedback! It really makes us happy! Sorry for the late respond. We had already answered the comment but seems it never got posted... Happens a lot actually so it's a bit annoying. The music is almost the hardest thing. We also enjoy a lot hearing good music in videos and movies and we're always on the look out for new tunes :) What kind of videos/movies do you edit? Checking the oil conditions is a habit since my drag racing days :) We haven't tried the fishing gear yet but will try it on our sail to Madeira! Ha det så bra :)
Malin. What a great time with your family. Always nice to have family visit for a while ... even if for a short while. Should have bought 4 of your favorite cheeses. LOL Sorry, Johan. 😉👍👌 ⛵️ ⚓️ ⛵️ ⚓️🍷🍷
+wilsnich02 Glad you liked it! Lisbon is a beautiful city! I don't miss the old haircut :) Feels nice to not have you're face full of hair all the time :)
Hi Malin & Johan. Another great video from a great city - thank-you. I also use the Raymarine E7D plotter with the remote app on the tablet and it works very well. Like you, I still prefer to use paper charts for the bigger picture though. My wife Julie and I are very jealous that you are going to Madeira next! We have been on holiday there many times and absolutely love it. If you are in Funchal, there is a restaurant called Moby Dick which serves the best 'espada con banana' (black scabbard fish) on the island! Fair winds and safe passage
Hi Mark! Sorry for the late respond but it seem like our previous answer never got posted. Have you even been to Porto Santo on your Madeira visits? It's a beautiful island we can really recommend. We're thinking to sail to Madeira this weekend and we'll try to make a visit to try out the Espada con banana on Moby Dick! Great name on a restaurant :) Thanks for the recommendation!
Hi Malin & Johan. Sadly, we have never been to Porto Santo but will definitely make the effort to go after seeing your video. In Funchal, there is also a famous hotel called Reid's Palace (not too far from Moby Dick!) where you can dress smartly and go for afternoon tea. Another lovely experience. Safe passage and hope you enjoy Madeira
On that big room at the end of the aqueduto , a few times, there were small music concerts :) And ages ago , in 1994. only for a few months, an amazing old restaurant where guests sang the "fado". Thanks for the vid !
You will need that fishing gear on the way to Madeira for sure. Some many tunas in those waters. Don't miss the beautiful beach of Porto Santo and the cross on the top of the hill next to the marina. By the way brilliant filming, and so creative! Fair winds to you guys!
+Sail Over The Horizon We arrived to Porto Santo yesterday at noon. We had a perfect downwind sail from Lisbon! Thanks for the tip, we will definitely check it out. Thanks for watching and fair winds to you to!
Great Video Johan & Malin, A hint for you next time you hit a town with Ikea. I seen you shopping. What you could do is to buy a lot of plastic and glas containers at Ikea (low cost) and whenever you have gone shopping your supplies you must get rid of the cardboard and plastic wrappers. Put it all in sealable containers.Rats, mice but even more so bugs in the tropics love cardboard. Also cardboard pulls moisture to your cabin.Ha det gôtt,Med vänlig hälsningMagnus
Hey Magnus! Thanks for the tips! We already have a lot of plastic containers, and it's great. But we will probably get more of them before our Atlantic crossing. Like you say, the bugs love cardboard! :-) Take care and thanks for great feedback!
You guys looked pretty happy visiting IKEA. Especially Malin when she found her favorite cheese. 😊 I'm sitting in an IKEA chair as I type this post. All the best to you!
Great video and haircut -- the military gave me something similar 30 years ago but it was free ;-) Fantastic to see you both enjoying the sun and Lisbon with your family. Oh, and great to see the carpenter's ruler again:D Lyckilg resa!
+Stephen Mundane Haha! Thanks Stephen! I was really getting tired of having the hair in my face all the time. :-) Yesterday we arrived to a sunny Porto Santo after a fast three day sail from Lisbon. Take care!
+Sailing SV Pau Hana (SV Pau Hana) Thanks guys! Johan used to play in a band so he knows his stuff :) I, Malin, played when I was a kid. We just need to practice a little bit so the old talents return :) Take care!
I want you to have a nice sailing to Madeira!! A few years ago I have to do a carbon fiber repair in Madeira, you can't miss the "levadas da auga" and the trekking route up to the "caldeirao do inferno" I found there some of the bests views I saw in my life! You will need comfortable wear and maybe boots to do it, but we did it with sneakers! :) And also sometimes a headlamp is recomended too!! We didn't have... neither... XD Enjoy the experience! ;)
+Javi Miguez Thanks Javi! We're enjoying Porto Santo now and it's a beautiful island! We'll make sure to visit these places on Madeira! We've heard of them and it sounds amazing. Take care!
Your girl is so cute with her love of her favorite cheese in IKIA, I love IKIA also!! (My IKIA is in West Sacramento, California, USA) BUT, I sooo miss the "Ahlgrens Bilar Swedish Chewy Candy cars: which they have not had in a few years. I would sooo love to buy a case of them if I could!!! Getting them on the internet is CRAZY expensive!!
Always great videos from you guys. now I think I gained a couple of pounds seeing all the food yall were eating. if you have any left overs send it to Texas and I'll finish it off for you lol. safe sailing.
Thanks a lot Ian! TH-cam has a music catalogue with thousands of songs that you can check the copyright laws for and if it's available to use in the whole world. About 80% of the music we want to use is blocked in some countries so it's not very easy to find good music that works everywhere. And if you use this kind of music the record labels gain money from the adds on the video. So we cannot monetize these videos. Nowadays we use music from epidemic sound where all songs are free to use. Makes it much easier for us! Cheers
Make sure you enjoy some Pastel de Nata whilst you're there guys! The home of them is just west of doc a de alcantara, in a big square.. Can't remember the name sorry. But worth hunting out!
You need a much stronger fishing rod and 2mm nylon trace for those big hits you will get, especially in the Pacific. Great videos but you need some great fishing video's also :)
+Paul Copeland We guess you're right about the rod but the line should be ok. We bought a braided dynema fishing line. We'll see if we get any fish :) Take care
Keeping a plot on paper is a great safety item. If all high tech go’s down you still have a idea where you have been .. Manual plotting is still used in aviation.. just record the gps locations on regular intervals. If all systems fail you can easily reduce your location ..
Hey, Super Video...I have questions.... 1. Why did you put a cleats and the stay 2. What were some of the things that you did before you make a long passage..it looked interesting...I love details..! Take care and be safe, Rob from Florida
+Confidential Male Hi Rob! Thanks. The cleats were for the lazy jacks and the other things was checking the engine oil, filling up the water tanks and scrubbing of seaweed from the wind vane. Take care!
Hey Guys! We've watched this vid 5x! Malin, how did you learn to organize the video footage so well, and tell the story with such flow? Seems you have a gift ! Always look forward to another video. Fair Winds & Following Seas, Michelle & Pat - Ft Lauderdale FL
+Pat Dorning Wow that's great feedback! :) I've just learned by doing and watching videos and movies that I find inspiring and good looking :) I think it's a lot of fun! We're so happy that you joined our pattern crew! Thank you so much! :) Take care guys!
Brilliant video, lots of interesting stuff and all perfectly formed. Just one small point about filling fresh water tanks the editing suggest you did not flush the hose before putting it in the tank, all sorts of nasties grow inside of the hose so a good couple of minute flush into the sea helps protects your tummies and the outside of the hose is never clean enough to warrant threading it down the tank filling connection, it's inconvenient put keep it out of the filler . Sorry.👍
+paul stratton Thanks Paul! RAN is a one-off Swedish built Aluminium boat by a Swedish naval architect Bernt Andersson. It's 40 ft long. You can find more info on our website: ransailing.wordpress.com Take care!
When drawing or marking a nautical map, is there any particular type of pencil lead grade you use? Example: HB, B, 2B, 3B, etc. Also, is moisture an issue with pencils?
Really nice video you two,, Thank you so much, So just how are Swedish meat balls made?? I am in canada I have travel some, I can tell you Chinese food here is not what Chinese eat, LOL Thank you again for the video, Terry
We're glad to have you with us on this adventure! Swedish meat balls are just minced meat, spices and egg/bredcrumbs, to keep the meat together. Then you just make balls and fry them. Very easy made :) A lot of foreign food is different when it's served in other countries but IKEA know how to make meat balls even in Portugal ;) Take care
Terry, Well, Chinese food all over the world is not like in China LOL. While we like the filet and all the tender meat the chinese tend to want the gory, difficult to chew stuff because they think it is more tasty - if there is one thing they throw away it is the filet.Anyhow, Swedish meatballs is like said made out of minced meat but a key to the ingridient is that it is mixed minced meat. It should be a 50/50 (max 40/60) mix of minced port and minced beef. Here's a reciepie for you:2 egg1 dl cream (the one you make whipped cream of), the more natural the better.1 tablespoon mustard1,5 dl crushed breadcrumbs1 onion1Kg mixed (pork/beef) minced meatsalt , black peppear, white pepparMix the eggs cream, bread crumbs and mustard and let it swell for about 10 min.Grater the onion, use the big holes.Mix the meat, onion and spices in the crumbs mix. Spice slighly more with the white than the black peppar. Mix thouroughly.Put on some plastic gloves, take a table spoon and 1 tablespoon of mix is just enough to make one meatball.Form little round balls and put them on a baking paper or similar. When you have enough for your fryingpan then fry them in butter. Make sure the first surface get hard in the pan before trying to roll them around. You want to try to make a smooth round surface. Not most important, important is the taste. Good luck.
My thumb is gettin sore, I can’t hold it up for 97 episodes in one day but I’m trying.....started at 70 and finished, now I’m back to the beginning 1-69, can anyone say couch potato.
Did you have music at the beginning of the video? The reason I ask is that there is no audio, I first guess is that TH-cam removes music if the copyright is not ok. Am I right?
I love your videos and trips you´re making. If I´m allowed to say please rise the volume of your speech within the editing. It´s too low. Says an old film sound mixer and sailor... fair winds!
Bra jobbat!
Well, I have only had 13 dates with you two and I will confess that I have fallen in Love with both of you. Your unbelievable talent and demeanor. A sailing life together as a couple …. simplicity, calm and content. Very simple …. Very unison. Sharing a journey. And we get to see. So nice.

You sailed all the way to Lisbon to visit IKEA......WTF? ;^)) Another great video guys, thx. Cheers and tight lines mates.
+Thomas Sparrow Haha, what to do when you see it on the map and it's right next to the store you're going to? :)
I have added Portugal to my list of wanna-see destinations ;)
+Howard White Great! :) It's a beautiful country!
Nice little TEASE at the End ...PLAY some...😁
Always great music! Where do you get it from and how do you overcome copyright issues? X
Cheers
you looked like you were just enjoying those meatballs LOL
Make sure you enjoy some Pastel de Nata whilst you're there guys! The home of them is just west of doc a de alcantara, in a big square.. Can't remember the name sorry. But worth hunting out!
+Cameron Springthorpe We been eating Pastel de Nata almost everyday since we arrived to Portugal. Haha! :-) Thanks for watching!
You guys really should try to go to Sesimbra - 30 NM south of lisbon...
+César Medalha Pratas We would love to! We'll do it the next time :)
1. Why did you put a cleats and the stay
Take care!
Bibio - what a nice choice.
They're very good :)
RAN Sailing they are! :)
Ha, I love that Swedish travellers can always find food from home in Ikea shops, pretty much everywhere in the world, so funny :)
+pAsDeNoMzUt Haha yeah, that's very convenient :) We finished the cheese in 3 days! :)

+ThisNarrowboatAdventure They are! And the are so old, from the beginning of the 20th century!
they look so modern because of the graffiti
+ThisNarrowboatAdventure They do!
For iPad apps ..... I used Navionics ..... until I tried iSailor. Exceptional.
Thanks for the tip! Will check it out!
Sorry.👍
But not put
+Norman Boyes Thanks Norman! Good tips! You're right about the hose. In this case we used the hose of the marina and not our own. Take care!
well done guys,,what is your boat ?,make, model, length?,safe travels, paul
+paul stratton Thanks Paul! RAN is a one-off Swedish built Aluminium boat by a Swedish naval architect Bernt Andersson. It's 40 ft long. You can find more info on our website: ransailing.wordpress.com Take care!
awesome,
When drawing or marking a nautical map, is there any particular type of pencil lead grade you use? Example: HB, B, 2B, 3B, etc. Also, is moisture an issue with pencils?
Nice
Really nice video you two,, Thank you so much, So just how are Swedish meat balls made?? I am in canada I have travel some, I can tell you Chinese food here is not what Chinese eat, LOL
Thank you again for the video,
Terry
Good luck.
I have to tell you that sounds a lot like the meat pies I had for breakfast, I do know how to make the dough, I will give this a try, Thank you
Terry
My thumb is gettin sore, I can’t hold it up for 97 episodes in one day but I’m trying.....started at 70 and finished, now I’m back to the beginning 1-69, can anyone say couch potato.
Haha :)
Did you have music at the beginning of the video?
The reason I ask is that there is no audio, I first guess is that TH-cam removes music if the copyright is not ok.
Am I right?
There is no sound in the video until 3:19. Not sure if you know this. Love your videos though. Not sure what went wrong here. Hope you can fix it.
Swedish Meatball Yum 😋
Next Ikea: Arrecife, Lanzarote
+Peter Fehringer Haha! Thanks for the tips Peter! :-) Take care
I love your videos and trips you´re making. If I´m allowed to say please rise the volume of your speech within the editing. It´s too low. Says an old film sound mixer and sailor... fair winds!
Bra jobbat!
The difference in her diet from his ......... well .... ---- Revisit that Yoga segment.
Do you always speak English, or just when you are recording?
I hardly hear any Swedish word or sound:)
Why no volume for the first few minutes?
Your dad looks quite young,.. was he like 17/18 when he became a father or something ?!
+ThatDutchguy Haha he will be happy to hear that :) He looks younger than he is. He was 25 when he became father to me :) Take care, Malin
No audio. Oh it came on at 3:22
I don't hear any sound. sound on previous video and one after
You should have done a bit more in Lisbon, well maybe you did, i mean show more footage of Lisbon!
During our 10 day stay it rained for a whole week :(
Can I ask you an ignorant question? , how much do you pay to "park" the boat in Lisbon?
+Dan Mac Of course! With our boat we paid around 25 euros/night. Not the cheapest but also not the most expensive. Take care!
+RAN Sailing Not bad at all.
